These DLC stages are framed as "High Score Challenges", so it boots you to the next stage when you die so you don't get the multipliers from the flag poles. As you saw once, getting the top of the flag doubles your coins. Doing that all three times is crucial to maximizing your score. Being put in the next stage when you die is NOT a kindness, at least not as the devs intended.

the thing with the challenge packs (and why you moved on even though you died) is that you're supposed to be collecting as many coins as possible in these courses...and if you die you lose the chance to collect coins in each course
