Sadly, this time I won't trust Microsoft ever again after how they treated Duo 2
@SonicMan200717 күн бұрын
Me too. It's an outrage how they abandoned a phone that expensive in less than 2 years after its release. Honestly, with how much they're screwing Xbox up recently too, I'm this close to jump ship from everything Microsoft that I can.

@@SonicMan2007 Been going back and forth on that for years now. 😩 I'd switch to Linux full time, but having to dig through forums to figure out how to fix things through terminals is genuinely just an annoying experience to me. I don't find it fun and I consider myself pretty nerdy with tech. I really loved my time with the steam deck, though. I didn't like the form factor enough to keep it, but steamos and subsequently, proton, are AWESOME. I really hope they improve and that's the future for Linux gaming. I don't dislike Linux, but the gatekeeping, smug attitudes of those with technical knowledge of how to use various distros, is a massive turn off. Rather than make more Linux users, most of them would rather make you feel like you're somehow inferior for using GUI. Absolutely trash behavior.

Yeah, we should have learned after windows phones. But we're suckers for nice hardware.

I really wish this format would come back (with a flagship-class camera config, ideally), because this is the only kind of folding phone I am interested in. I don't care that it's not one continuous screen when opened flat; I'd much rather have it this way, with durable glass screens, than all the other folding phones where the screen is vulnerable to basically everything harder than a marshmallow.

The surface duo is why I started watching this channel. I wish someone would come up with something viable like it instead of the same old thing year after year.

MS just failed at marketing this product. I still use it and lots of adv over other phones that others don't realize. My car keys wont scratch it when it's in my pocket. Perfect for navigation apps, sometimes i use both waze and google maps side by side when i start to doubt waze's route. Also good to use for 2 shopping apps side by side to compare which app sells cheaper on same product. Also best for email when you use one screen as keyboard.

Just hunted down a SD2, original slim pen 2 and SD2 pen cover, all for just under£300 Watched pretty much every video Shane put out on this before buying it, have even put my OG pixel for in a drawer and use this instead Gcam installed, absolutely loving the true multitasking abilities of this little device, happily folding it open and closed multiple times a day without worrying about ultra thin glass What can i say, loving the duel-screen lifestyle 👍🏻, heck this even had all the Pixel goodness like Maguc editor etc.... Love it

Admirable, but you're suffering for absolutely no reason at this point. Pick any $300-$500 phone and you'd have a better device.

Good video, Shane. Last month I finally retired my DUO2 after all these years for a SAMSUNG S24 FE. Definitely not used to these single screen candy bar style phones anymore, but I got it for $400 which was the deal of the year. LOL.... Hopefully, MS will make a come back soon.

The Samsung Galaxy A16 which costs couple of hundred dollars: six (6) years of OS and security updates! The Duo 2 with original price 1500 bucks I'm ashamed to even mention its support! Outrageous.

Would love to get a 360° single screen duo or a dual screen with even less gab smaler boarders and as thin as duo 1 would be crazy... And possible with todays tech... Would love the performence gain...

Thanks for this video. Still holding out hope for a new Duo phone. I still use my Duo 2 from time to time. But it’s very dated now and the only way you can really update it is if you modify it yourself.

Good factual analysis of the timeline for all these patents that I am sad to say will never see the light of day. It would be great if they did but the facts are there, when Panos (Microsoft’s former product lead) left that was the end of the line for the Duo & Studio devices. RIP SD1 & SD2

I got a Pixel 9 Pro Fold, and it just doesn't feel good to use. Whenever I pick up my SD1, I am reminded how much I loved that phone. I still love it. I would trade in my Fold for a SD3 in less than a heartbeat.

I still think the Surface Duo design makes the most sense. Samsung came out with the foldable screen devises not because they should, but because they could. For those who truly want to multi-task, the Duo makes the most sense. Otherwise it's just a large screen and if you want that, buy a tablet.

Losing (or pushing out) Panos, Xbox in a downward trajectory for a long time, aggressively pushing Copilot/AI on a majority that doesn't want it screams Microsoft is screwed when it comes to the consumer. The Duo is/was a dud. Microsoft is now a B2B company more than ever.
