@Motion_01124 ай бұрын
For me, the reason I think the scissors don't work that great on the Power pint is because is a left handed type. The position of the two parts that make the scissor is inverted compared to a right handed one. This affects a fair amount on how well it cuts because if you use it with the wrong hand, the way the force is aplied it separates the cutting edges instead of closing them.

Straight edge scissors are for paper. Serrated scissors are generally used for cordage, just as well as a knife blade. I know most people will use what they have on hand to get the job done and basically multi tools serve that purpose, as a backup tool. Any multi tool without replacement wire cutters I wouldn’t purchase. However I find these an acceptable first time tool possibly.
@marsbase37294 ай бұрын
Good point, the serration helps hold thick materials without them sliding the scissors. Also the amount of play between the blades affects the limit to what it can cut. You probably know this but just thought I'd add a little for others who read this. 👍
@marsbase37294 ай бұрын
This would be pretty cool if it had better scissors and also flat head screwdriver/pry tool. I had the Gerber dime for years before upgrading to larger Leatherman clone with hammer/glass breaker end, it's doing great so far after about a year. Anyway the Dime was cool for what was but couldn't handle a lot force on the pliers due to it's size so I upgraded. But it's pliers were great for removing splinters I would sometimes get from pallets at work. In fact they made the tweezers obsolete. So if this tool has enough precision with it's pliers it could substituted a flathead in place of the tweezers.

[swiss tech fanboy here] despite some negative reviews on the überall, i love it. im a huge fan of all swiss tech products (especially their black g-10 würdig knife), but i will say-i compared the überall to the leatherman squirt and there is definitely competition. dont get me wrong, i love leatherman just as much as the next guy, but i wanted something new. my squirt does the job for me almost all the time but i wanted something just a tad bigger without going into a full sized multi-tool. i think for the money and size and weight, the überall does a good job at keeping it simple and convenient.

They need to start doing clones of the Leatherman Juice series. That's a form factor that has not been explored much.
@KevinHamilton-c3u4 ай бұрын

What a waste of space those tweezers and carabiner are, they would have been better off with some kind of flat head screwdriver. $30 seems a little high too .... this one's a pass for me.
@haakonr14 ай бұрын
I’ll likely buy this and mod it. It’s the closest thing to a Juice S2 replacement I’ve seen. This with better scissors, a long reaching mini flat head (like on the PowerPint) and a larger flat head for larger screws and prying - and this would be just about a perfect lightweight EDC MT for me. Lengthwise the Power Pint is just right, but it’s trying to do too much for its size. All the tools make it bulky and heavy.
@lukedogwalker4 ай бұрын
Victorinox could muller the competition in this size class, with scissors and small phillips head drivers that work, and scale tools that are worth having (the tweezers, but also the pen!). They already have small scale pliers they could enlarge as a basis, or they could scale down the Swiss Tool. Either way, they could capture most of the small keychain plier-based multi tool market, given that Leatherman has resigned from it and left a big hole to fill. This market is very broad: every demographic carries keys.

I think it's actually a very ideal size, but that size would be the only thing it has going for it. I suppose my opinion holds little water since I won't buy Chinese or Taiwanese multitools regardless, but this thing is just a major failure in design. The size is ideal to me, but they have too much wasted space. Not only by having that carabiner and plastic housing for the tweezers but also by having 2 tools on the outside and the rest on the inside. Just pick one or the other to avoid wasting space.
