New Tank! WaterBox vs Redsea 🤷🏻‍♂️

Waterbox & Redsea tanks are actually manufactured in same facility. Redsea pops seams due to front glass panel is not supported by the stand. It overhangs which causes extra stress on silicone. Also, larger Redsea stands "sag" in the center. They now offered a new support to add. With that said, Waterbox for the win.

I have a WB 170. 4/5. I love it no complaints. I've had a RS and they can't compair to WB. The cabinets alone are next level. I also use the RS 90s lights and RS 600k skimmer bouth are amazing. Lots of room for aquascaeing. Can't go wrong with WB and RS equipment.

Love my WB. The silicone is so low profile and the glass overflows are just so sharp. When I upgrade to a larger one I will almost certainly get another WB. The +PLUS versions are the ones with the AI lights.

The Larger tanks are in the Reef Pro. They do not include the lights unless you configure them that way. What they do offer is a Fuge divider in the sump, manifold off of the intake and check valve to prevent back siphoning in the return. I've had RSM and now a WB 180 Reef Pro. WB is the clear winner, no comparison

Just ordered the 130.4 in black last Thursday, so there’s my answer. I also liked the extra depth for scaping. Would have loved the option to have dual return pumps or sump for roller may instead of filter socks, but I trust the quality of the build for the price point after doing my research. Can’t wait for it to get here.

Well well. I am getting the Reefer 900 XXL tomorrow... after having had the sad problem you mentioned on my 425 XL hopefully they managed the problem. And we don't get waterbox in Switzerland, but they look great and seem to be cheaper than Red Sea. But, since you want a custom made sump and maybe an aluminium stand, why don't you create your own? Just set up my RSR 525xl. If you after more front to back, go for the 625xl. It has a few extra inches plus the additional height. There was many comparisons the last year where the Waterbox products had better features like leveling adjustable feed etc. The RSR v3 units have most of these features now so just check with Red Sea before taking someones comment as they might have a older model or might have read older content. The waterbox plumbing and gatevalve is a plus thought. Good luck on your decision!

Yes the volume is the total volume of tank and sump. Ive been doing research too between these two brands. Im able to fit a 48" length as well in my foyer. WB is a little cheaper than RS. Also during the pandemic RS has a wait time of a month to get the tank shipped. So I maybe getting a WB. Also i have been thinking about the JBJ 65 like you had before.

If you want the clearest best quality glass of any tank on the market, I suggest Elos. No other tank manufacturer has tanks that can rival an Elos tank, when it comes to clarity and quality of glass. I’ve owned 4 Elos tanks, from a 70 to a 160xl. I’ve also owned a redsea 750, AGE, and customs tanks, and none comes close to Elos in the glass clarity and quality of tank. If what u want is a 4ft tank with a lot of width, then besides a custom tank, the Elos 120xl would be perfect with its 31.5” width. A custom tank with starphire glass still won’t beat an Elos tank in clarity though. But Elos tanks are pricey. So don’t know what your budget is. Elos usually costs 2x-3x the price of its competitor, but IMO it’s worth the money for the crystal panels they use. They’re hard and resist scratches just like normal high iron glass, except they’re even clearer than low iron glass (starphire) without any green at all.

I have a reefer 525xl and I love it i was in the same boat deciding between these same two tanks but I went with red sea because I wanted the extra foot from left to right rather then the extra 1.5 inch front to back

Reef Pro doesn't come with lights. It's the +Plus version of any model that comes with the lights. I have the 220.6 and I would buy another one in a second.

crystal dynamics aquariums in Oceanside, CA - they make custom tanks. If you would like a different sump or stand, a custom work might be the way to go.

Somewhere down the road you are going to realize how effective filter socks are, especially for the cost. So you have to do the laundry on them once a month, who cares? Just put one sock in your system for one day and see how much it pulls from your system. I would never consider a refugium a replacement for mechanical filtration.

I run Triton too with a custom sump on my rsr250 but without mechanical filtration my fuge builds up tons of detritus. I have to vacuum the fuge frequently to keep nutrients under control. I love Triton but I feel like it needs mechanical filtration. What do you feed? I feed two cubes of mysis in the morning and a small quarter size piece of lrs reef refrenzy at night.

I recommend you look at miracles in glass. I have a 320gal rimless low iron from them that is beautiful. They do the armor corners like reef savy does but at a fraction of the cost and you dont have a year long wait. Mine has the internal overflow with three drains and 2 returns in it. I have it butted up right against the wall. Camw with a powder coated steel stand.

I wouldn't go with Waterbox or Redsea with the size of tank you are looking at. Both manufacturers use a "wood" cabinet with cam locks--no way I'm putting that much weight on those cabinets. I've had a Waterbox 60.2 Marine... and while the tank itself was done very nicely, I hated the cabinet. And it's why I ended up going with the Mode 75G with its aluminum stand. If i hadn't gone with the Mode, I would have gone with the Innovative Marine 75G and its aluminum stand. The IM doesn't come with a sump, which is a plus in my opinion; and knowing what I've seen from you, something tells me you would be happier with this option. One other tank I would have considered with my upgrade (had i known about them), would have been CADE (sold through Algaebarn.com). It's an Australian built tank system. One of the neat features about these systems is the control cabinet is already built in the aluminum cabinet with power management switches. GL

Look at Planet Aquariums, better sump. Option for external or internal overflow. Better cabinets IMO, more color options. Rimless or hood. Check them out on Saltwateraquarium.com or your LFS. Also since you are in California I believe. Check out Crystal Dynamic Aquariums. I saw them at MACNA last year. Their aquariums are built like tanks. Going with a less known but better quality builder might have more interest. If you want to go high end get a Reefsavvy.

I'd go Elos for those type of dimensions - 100% - The Stand - you get your own sump - the glass is the clearest - they are earthquake proof - and your wife can choose the stand color panels you can change

Waterbox is definitely a step up I think from Red Sea but in the US I think it's same price or cheaper - but here in EU for some reason WB is MUCH more expensive. I don't get it - they are both made in China. Also you can put the Peninsula against the Wall! Reefdudes and Reef Dork both recommend that - that is what I would do. You may also be able to take the black off the back so it's only the overflow that is black - in my view tanks without black on the back are so much better

Before you give out false info do some research and learn how to read before you make a video. The reef pro are the bigger tanks and you can get plus hd lighting on any size tanks. The reef pro comes in two sizes 180.5 and the 220.6
