Ok..here I go commenting on another one of your videos! Excellent! I have used the mepps spinners for over 50 years. It is the only spinner I have had success with. Mainly because of its lightness to blade size. The stingeye looks to have a large blade? And would spin on a slow retrieve? I'm interested! God is good! James W.

...great to hear from you again.....the Stingeye Spinner will definitely work great at slow retrieve and the blade is designed to give off a combination of both flash & vibration - with the large eye as an attractor and the hook right at the eye, you are going to love it :)

Hello IVO - Very good impressive spinner lure - the silver blade with that large eye looking feature above the treble hook is a sure winner to take any kind of fish I am sure . When does is it available to purchase - like to get one - yet having it sink to the bottom there should be a weedless treble hook just in case it gets snagged or hung up on the bottom . . . just a thought to share with you. What size reel and pole do you use and what size line ?

I like to use a 7-foot rod as it gives me extra casting distance and the reel typically matches the rod - do not need a huge reel, as most reels have plenty of line capacity and the smaller reels are lighter, for all day casting comfort :)

michael meyer I don't know about lake trout but I can share what I know about salmon. (At least when it's going upstream to play) you need to prepare for how deep it is, how strong the current is and how you want to fish with different lines, rods, lures and weights. I prefer fishing from land with a long rod and with tube flies. Sometimes I also use big spoons in bright colors. Don't know if this is factual information but it's what I know, good luck!

No such thing as a stupid question! I think they are both salmonoid types, but lake trout are native to the Great Lakes and come in several subspecies. Most of them tend to feed close to the bottom and go for a wide variety of prey such as alewives and round goby. A king salmon on the other hand seems hard-wired to hit on the silver flash of the alewife school and ignore the bottom-dwelling round goby. Around Michigan fishermen call lake trout "greasers" because the meat is in fact greasier than salmon. Lake trout are often smoked and taste awesome with a good smoking recipe.

Ivo, I have one question about the Stingeye spinner. I have used the Roostertail brand many times, and usually get lots of line twist from them. Since the Stingeye looks to be a similar design to me, can you suggest a way to fix this issue? I'm thinking of trying a snap swivel the next time I use them. Planning to get some Stingeyes for myself and friends soon.

I have not had any line twist, however, if you are experiencing line twist with any lure you run, best to use a snap/swivel or you can tie a swivel a foot or 2 ahead of your lure instead of using a snap/swivel - both systems work :) PS> when you & your friends get the Stingnose, you are going to absolutely love them :)

The rod was a quantum tour edition rod, 7 foot, medium action and the Stingeye Spinner was the large one, which is a size 4 and it weighs 3/4 oz :)

@@209ers ....yes...medium action rod and if using braided line, you can use 20 lb as it is very thin, with a 10 - 12 lb fluoro leader - or you can run straight 10 lb fluorocarbon line - good luck on the water :)

Hi Stephen...it is good for many species - just tailor the size of the Stingnose to the species...we use the smaller ones for perch and panfish, the mid sized ones for bass and walleye and pike and the larger one for lake trout etc... It's a great lure :) Also good in salt water as well
