J.C. SMITH PROJECTS

3 жыл бұрын

I SOLD MY 2013 HINO ROLLBACK. I REALLY LIKED HAVING A SMALL ROLLBACK AROUND. I JUST DIDNT LIKE HAVING AS MUCH MOMNEY INVESTED IN ONE AS I DID. SO I STARTED LOOKING FOR SOMETHING IN A MORE ACCEPTABLE PRICE RANGE. I HAD MY PRIORITES. THE IMPORTANT THINGS TO ME WERE BUDGET, CONDITION, ABLE TO USE QUICKLY, EASY TO USE AND WORK ON, NO EMMISSIONS! I FOUND PLENTY THAT NEEDED ENGINES, RUSTED OUT STEEL BEDS AND COUNTLESS "PROJECT" TRUCKS. THIS IS THE ONE THAT SUITED ME BEST. MIGHT STAY AS IT IS OR IT MAY GET SOME SIGNIFICANT CHANGES....I GUESS YOU WILL HAVE TO WATCH AND SEE!

This truck is as green as you can get. Repurposing or refurbishing old iron like this is environmentally responsible since it returns to service as 100% recycled. This one is far from crap it's a jewel.

Dear J.C. Smith 👍👌👏 Congrats! That's a great purchase for sure (and not only because I absolutely love nearly everything that is green). I guess too that the right/best thing to do is to lower the truck with the 19.5" wheels. But then it even runs less than 65mls per hour. But I guess you will use another rear axle/rear differential too. Wouldn't it be easier, less time consuming and more durable to put steel plates on the bed instead of wooden boards? As always: Thanks a lot for making teaching explaining recording editing uploading and sharing. Best regards luck and health to all of you.

You've done it again. Another International has been brought into the fold. I rode in a Hino once. Roomy cab, good visibility, decent headroom, but I hated the ergonomics and the dash layout. I'll take the International any day. The engine sounds like the 6.9 litre that I have seen in older Fords before the T444E was introduced. Can't wait until you get it prettied up and put to work.

Oak decking would be solid. When dragging stuff on with the winch wouldn’t metal be a better option so it slides easier and doesn’t dig in.
@j.c.smithprojects
@j.c.smithprojects 3 жыл бұрын
it would slide on steel better but if i gouge the steel it is much more difficult to repair than a pice of rough sawn oak. plus, if i use steel, i will have to add as steel spacer to every crossmember to get it up to the height of the outside rails.

If it has the old Stanadyne water separator in it, they’re trouble. They have the spring plunger you pull up to open the valve pin off the seat. For some reason, they make the pin out of regular mild steel and since it is immersed in water - it rusts. Great design, guys. So the valve leaks, air gets in the fuel system and you ain’t going anywhere. Replace it with something newer if you have one of these turds in there. And definitely get some oak cut for the bed. See if you can get it kiln-dried too. That’s what I’d do. 👍

Inhad a 98 with a powerstroke in it that was a dog outta the hole with a auto trans but would run 70mph all day long on the highway amd then a had a 2001 with a 225 hp 466 with a auto trans and it would roll out and had plenty of pulling power. Very nice loaded out truck. And then i drove two different ones with 466's and standards transmissions and they were power houese but would only run about 62 mph. All were great trucks and the only major problem they all had in common was the kingpins went bad on every one of em. They are very hard on the kingpins.
