My mother bought one last year for $45k and she loves it. Kind of a larger version of the Rav4. Perfect all around family vehicle.

Unfortunately no matter how you spin it a turbo 4 cylinder will never last as long or be as reliable as a straight six cylinder - simple physics of faster movement on parts will wear them out faster, period.

The Highlander woll be obsolete if Toyota doesnt drop the price. The Grand Highlander is only a few grand more.

I own one from the previous generation, with the V6 and way better looking exterior than this current one! The Grand Highlander is too big for some people. So they need to update this one and remove the third row. I’m also driving the Pathfinder as Ben mentioned it’s a good option over this now if you want a v6. 😂

Bought the 2024 Highlander Limited gas turbo in late Feb. paid $ 47,350. About $ 3700 off MSRP. Dealer never had market adjustments, even during the height of the shortages. Minimal add ons. The only one I would have skipped is the crossbar at about $ 400. Glad I have it now. Will never use it but it makes the car look better and makes it much easier to find in a large parking lot, among a sea of white SUVs. This replaced my Venza 2021 hybrid and I wanted to go back to gas. Much more enjoyable and safer passing than the hybrid.

I have a feeling Toyota knows what they're doing with this 4cyl engine. I drove one of these yesterday and absolutely loved it. The tech is better than used Lexus models that are at the same price point.

I rented a v6 Highlander 2 years ago and really liked it. Test drove a new one with the turbo 4 last year... and the interior was nice but that engine is not going to hold up 150k miles without a problem. And same for the Grand Highlander. Those vehicles are too big for a turbo 2.4. I can see the 2.5 with a hybrid like the Sienna, but no way would I go $55k without knowing I had 10 years of peace of mind.

I totally agree with you. I own a 2021 highlander which is 3.5 liter engine, but I am not so sure about that 2.5 turbo at all.

I have the 23 highlander platinum and I definitely have some buyer’s remorse. I found out that this car existed only 2 days after I bought the car. If I would’ve known I definitely would have coughed up the extra money and just bought the grand highlander

The current Highlander is great for most people. The Grand Highlander is for larger families. I think they need both and need to redesign the current regular Highlander

From what I’ve seen the last few years, this generation Highlander is a hit for the aftermarket… more so than any other Toyota, actually. Looks great slammed on 23s 😂

Regular Highlander does have its own market especially for the elders who would like to have a three-row and reliable SUV. The third row is mainly for occasional and emergency use only. Regular Highlander has its specific advantages... better mpg and easier manipulation compared to Grand Highlander. Also, its outlook is classy and elegant rather than trendy and muscular.

Supposedly stop sell effective June 20, on the Grand due to safety issues with no fixes.

Now with the Grand Highlander out, this should be a 2 row. I wonder how this compares with the new Crown Signia coming out. Word on the street, the next Highlander will be all electric.

The Highlander and GH are only a few grand difference in price and not terribly bigger in size. It’s not lot the GH is the size of a suburban. So for an extra few inches and for an extra couple grand people are opting for the bigger size. The sequoia is a whole different beast. If the GH was a massively bigger car maybe you would have stolen sales from the Highlander but since they are really close in size and price why not go big.

The highlander was obsolete when it came out. The highlander is a zombie 3 row. It exists but with no purpose since it doesn’t do anything well vs rivals
