Choosing tread pattern is always a balance. Aggressive treads will tear up the soil when turning, but smooth treads won't push. I don't know you well, but one thing I do know is that you do your research (and probably have a pro/con chart, lol), so that tread pattern must be the right one for you. At first, I thought that they are awfully aggressive, but once you got to the snowblower, it became obvious what your priority is. Life is about balance, and for each of us, that balance point is different. We should always work to understand that we all have different needs in our life and once we accept that, we can accept others as they are, rather than tearing them down just because they made a different decision than you would have. Philosophy aside, take a look at the old tracks and see if each track wears more on the inside or outside. If they do, you might consider swapping the tracks side to side midway through their life. I think Cat recommends that on their full size skiddys.

Matt it is now a bit small 20 acres and new barn maybe a 925 at least. How many hours do you have on it? But the lift ht is the limitation if you have storage racks. These can sell for a value where by the hour they only cost $30 Very few wear points An engine overhaul is easy and a V A L U E or new build if one has time and space and no need for a second skid in daily operation.

I thought you were going to pressure wash the track carriage after you had the track off but it looked pretty cold to do that. I cant believe those tracks cost more then a set of tires for an SUV. I dont know anything about the mechanic of a skid steer but I wonder if it is a safety issue with the slow reverse speed. If you were to all off whilst going backwards, the slower speed may be of benefit in reducing any injury?

This was really interesting, but I, for one, would be quite interested to hear what recycling arrangements there are for the old treads. @timothyball31442 жыл бұрын
The cost of disposal of the old tracks needs to be factored into the cost of buying them. They can be recycled and the steel recovered, but its not something that is done on a large enough scale to make it widely available. Too often, they just end up dumped into the landfill.
