@JFinney4 жыл бұрын
The units normally sit at YRK and other major stations due to pathing constraints in a non-covid world, and to allow for changes of crew and (this used to be the case with the 185s at YRK) to load/restock trolleys for the onboard service. It would appear they've just not removed the layovers from the services at the major stops for some reason during Covid.

@muk88043 жыл бұрын
The waits are to facilitate proper interchange for passengers on local stopping trains and other regional express services incase of people requiring ramp deployment , mobility assistance and to account for delays with other services so you don't miss your connection. 12 minutes has always been the case since British Rail for exactly that reason . 25 mins (double ) may be due to York being a major interchange for national services from Scotland and London , which could easily be subject to such a delay .

Looking at the timetables, it's a stitched together path. The train runs in the Scarborough path as far as York, then the Ncl to Mcr air path as far as Victoria and finally the Edinburgh to lime Street path. It will be to keep the departures the same as key hubs throughout the day, but also mix up where the trains run to and from😊
@wingnutta4 жыл бұрын
This is EXACTLY what it is, a pure and simple covid era diagram im afraid. Although frustrating, it provides some padding for delays too. In the Dec timetable, this will go and be replaced by a full Liv - Scar daily timetable pre-covid with 4 x Nova 3's in service. HOWEVER this is subject to us not being in lockdown at that time...

@@wingnutta are the 68s still being used during covid? Where do they come through Manchester? Which routes do they cover?
@wingnutta3 жыл бұрын
@@davemagee123 Yes we are still on them but they are mainly doing Sca - York shuttles. @agent_6054 жыл бұрын
I think the 25 minute layover at York has something to do with pathing over the TPE route. When the COVID timetable was introduced, the Liverpool-Scarborough service was cut, with it running as a shuttle from York, whilst the Liverpool-Edinburgh route (cut back to Newcastle) took its path. That way, for passengers still making a through journey, there was a quick and easy connection at York. However, for the few services that still continue through to Liverpool, they now have to use the path that used to be for the Newcastle service, which is why there’s a 25 minute wait

Class 68 is my favourite as its an actual loco too ..superb in that livery . modern seating is shocking in all the new trains ive been on ..i suspect its all about getting something that meets the minimum levels allowed to save costs ..having no refreshments for over a 3 hour journey is taking the piss although i guess 25 mins at york could poss grab a coffee
@darkcenturion57354 жыл бұрын
the 25 minutes is only a recent thing in the timetable

Normally there are refreshments but TPE aren’t offering them during the pandemic. Seating is not so much based on costs but on crashworthiness standards set by the government, so far they’re the only seat that meets the requirements for 125mph+ operation. Avanti West Coast are apparently trying to put a different design through at their own expense for their new 805 and 807 fleets

Maybe the train was early when it arrived at Scarborough, so it was early to LLS

I personally think the nova 3 should have 1-2 more coaches

An extra first class coach would be useful whether it be a buffet car or what an extra standard class car would be useful post covid as there certainly be a rise in passenger numbers it also would make the trains feel more like a true loco hauled express train with more coaches 5 for me just doesn't look quite right

1. Seats disappointing. 2. Lighting thoughtfully presented. 3. What! No snack machine for a three hour trip? 4. Nothing beats the glorious scenery of the Pennines.

I agree, and no food provided on-board!

It sounds pretty darn noisy to me. Can hear that constant hum of the diesel. =/ Here in the US of course it's almost all diesel and I hate being next to the loco, but for the long distance routes there's usually a couple cars separating you (baggage and staff car, but that still doesn't help much when the horn blares).
