Just literally had this done (6 weeks), it was amazing seeing this video! So far I can honestly say my appendix was more painful than this, literally came off all painkillers 36 hours after op. Freaking AWESOME ❤! I can't report on the improvements just yet as I'm struggling with meds side effects but what a miracle. I have EDS so to have my chest cracked would have left me with serious issues!!

What would you recommend for someone who has severe mitral valve regeneration (active otherwise healthy 75 year old) is a surgery candidate but very reluctant to what open heart surgery intails, but I think open to informed convincing?

Have you discussed this with a cardiologist? The MitraClip procedure is a procedure that does not require open heart surgery.

I have mitral valve regurgitation. This week I have a second echo and will be seeing a doctor who does interventional cardiology. I am going to have an valve evaluation. What does that consist of? I live in Billings Montana and the doctor is Dr Oestreich. I have fatigue, shortness of breath! Wanting to know more about this evaluation.

Hello, sorry for the delay. The valve evaluation is usually made by the echo but can be done using a CT of the heart. Depending on the severity of your MR you may be a candidate for MitraClip.

Hi. I have been diagnosed with mild valve regurgitation. However; my legs and ankles stay swollen, I stay extremely tired all the time and stay with a chronic cough. Can you get these symptoms with a mild valve regurgitation?

The answer is if it is mild MR, the answer is no but if the MR is more severe (and sometimes it can be underestimated) then it can cause those symptoms. Have you tried eating dandelion greens or drinking dried dandelion leaf tea? Dandelion leaf (not root) is a very safe and effective diuretic and rich in potassium. This will help your kidneys remove fluid from your lungs and legs. Lasix is a prescription diuretic; however it will deplete your potassium levels and cause future kidney problems.

Is this an advance over the robotic assisted minimal invasive repair? when is this robot assisted repair better than mitral clip? i had a TEE because my doctor heard a murmur-he said it's not too bad now recheck in a year and i have no symptoms yet(have a fib but well controlled with Sotolol and warfarin but i would have to have the saw and cut me up method-i'm not sure i want that! he blew off the idea of the minimal incision approach.what are leaflets?

Sorry, there are no medications that will fix Mitral Regurgitation. Medications can treat up to a point, but not fix.

I traveled from Manila to Miami just for this procedure. I am scheduled for a clip in 2 days. I have sever MR, and try to manage fluid in my lungs with Lasix, I have developed sleep apnea as a result of low oxygen. I wake up suddenley and I immediately start to urinate, I hyproventilate to return to a non panic state. I would not wish what I go through on my worsst enemy. I pray thee clip gives me back a normal life
