Excelent tip. Thank you for sharing with us Robert. May I ask for your opinion about TSC3 vs TSC 7? Which of the two whould you recomend. I already have TSC2 12 years now and I plan to buy a new data collector.

TSC 7 everyday, so much easier to use, new version of access 2018. The screen looks great and its super fast compared with the TSC 3

You will move to windows 10 if you get a new collector the TSC7 is a beast!!!

I finally got WMDC to work on my new computer to connect my TSC3's. However, I did discover a GREAT alternative for connecting the TSC3 to Windows 10 computers. Check out "Mobile Connect" from Juniper Systems (the ruggedized computer company). It's a utility that allows a usb to pc connection for the TSC3. Works like a charm. They have a 7 day trial and then it's $20 for a lifetime license . They don't specifically mention the TSC3 but say they have done successful 'limited' testing on non-Juniper devices. It works just fine. Instructions for installing are straightforward.

Robert, Thank you for all your videos. They have been very helpful. Question: My TSC3 does not have the LAIRD connection manager. Do I need to update the firmware on the TSC3 or is this a separate install? I'm currently on 2017.24. Your help is always appreciated. Congrats on reaching one thousand followers!

Thanks for the tip Robert. What O/S are you using? I know that I have seen the Laird Connection manager before, but it is not in the latest version (3.2.1) that I have.

Robert, great video. What update on the TSC3 is causing the "new" WiFi setup to have to be used?

New OS for Windows Mobile. If you upgrade or buy a new TSC3 this will be an issue. Provided you want internet to run a network rover.

I believe you would have to load an older version of windows mobile.

Hello Robert, We have a TSC3 with Windows 6.5 and Trimble Access 2017.24 but do not have LAIRD Connection Manager. We recently acquired a TRIMBLE GPS unit and wanted to connect the Controller to our phone hotspot using the provided Wireless Manager with no luck. It does identify other Wi-Fi signals but not our phone's. We searched in LAIRD's website but could not find any link to downloads. Were can we download it? Is it free? Can authorized Trimble retailer help us out as well? Your help will be much appreciated. Keep up the great videos, they've been so helpful!

First issue you may be having is your phone is probably broadcasting 5.0 GHz. The TSC3 can only see 2.4 GHz WiFi. If you don’t see the LAIRD connection you may be running an older windows operating system. You could try updating the OS. Even getting the LAIRD connection setup you still can’t see 5.0 GHz WiFi.

Thank you Robert for taking the time and respond. We changed the setting on the phone to 4G (LTE) because we thought this could be an issue but did not work. We will check if there is a newer windows version than 6.5. That being said can we will assume a newer version will include the LAIRD Connection Manager? Thanks Again Robert, we will continue troubleshooting.
