I'm really happy to report that the game crashing related to poor cleanup of unused object IDs (form IDs) is now completely gone. I am able to play the huge saved game that was previously unplayable (I began a new play-through after I had got stuck at Level 98). The game is now extremely stable for me and I continue to enjoy it immensely! At 833 hours now.

I have been loving Starfield. They broke the mold with NG+. After 240 hours in a very leisurely 1st playthrough, I was ready to set it aside for a while once I completed the main quest line. But when NG+ started, it was so different and cool, with some big decisions to make right at the start, that I had to keep playing.

+ Changed how FormIDs are freed when loading saves. This should improve stability for saves that have visited many locations. As someone who explored the entire galaxy before attempting most of the story content, If this is confirmed to work, a return to Starfield is in my future.

Over 250 hours & still enjoying my time in starfield. The last update noticeably improved the lighting in new Atlantis & how the lighting lands on npc's faces. Glad the form id thing has been/is being addressed.

I really wanted to love Starfield. Morrowind was my starting point for Bethesda. I am just not feeling this game. There are some really cool aspects but I feel like the base game should have down sized with more Bethesda old school love and care. and have had the other star systems as DLC.

I used an FSR mod, that worked for my Nvidia 3060 and doubled the frame rate. Quick tip, activate vsync from Nvidia control panel and cap the framerate.

Runs Great! (IMO) Rig: 6750xt on 550B Plus MB, 5600X CPU, with 32GB 3200Mhz RAM so an AMD rig. Game went from just under 60 FPS (med/high) to 70 ~ 170 FPS at 1440p upscaled to 4k (ultra).

I have the new beta through Steam, but not experiencing any change to either framerates, which weren’t really a problem, or the saved gamed id glitch. Every load screen ,the game wants me to delete saved games to make room, which I did delete more than 2 gigs worth, with no change. I even opted for becoming Starborn, which didn’t stop the glitch. Although it’s annoying, I am still playing, though. I love Starfield! Just got Mantis ship again, for instance…even with several strategic quick saves, to keep the goblins at bay, so to speak. Can’t wait for a patch that fixes quests!

So far I guess I've lucked out, bought it just after the 1.88 patch, 350 hrs/lvl60 in and only about 1/3 way done, just roaming around, not in a hurry. I maybe only had one crash before this last update, 7 or 8 hr play through tho. And one after the update, about 2 or 3 hrs in, not quite sure why. I still do a fair amount of exploring ON the planets so could be the form id bug. I did get the warning I had too many saves so I deleted 90% of them and only hard save when I quit now. I just noticed after this last update that I'm now getting the empty ship bug and haven't had any Pirate, etc, ships either land as I get there or are already there at the "abandoned what evers" when clearing them like they used to be. I'm at the point of starting the "sad part" of the Constellation quest and, other then my companion, I can't get any of the main characters to join my ship. Wasn't ready to start it yet so I don't know if it's a bug or just forcing me to finish it. Since then around 7 out of 10 ships that randomly land when exploring the planets are Starborne ships and half the time they don't even come out, under the 1.88 patch and now. Still really nothing to keep me from still playing it.

I play on Xbox Series X. Am looking forward to them fixing empty ships, non advancing quests because of it like Matters of the heart and the neon ship tech. However I find their last update is causing more bugs on xbox and stability issues. It might be that I have now refused the unity and am also experiancing those issues as well but am expeiacing black screen template overlays and kicked out of game scenarios. The support is so user hostile it makes it not worth the effort.

It won’t have a Cyberpunk 2077 “redemption arc.” Cyberpunk was fundamentally fun at its core, with a great gameplay loop, thoroughly realized universe, it was just unfinished at launch (and the driving STILL sucks shit though even after Phantom Liberty). Starfield is not “great” at anything. It doesn’t play great, it doesn’t look great, the story is just simply BAD, even the soundtrack is unbelievably boring (absolutely no stand-out music track at all). It’s just 3 “okay” games stitched together. If anything, Starfield made me realize that “The Outer Worlds 2” is already going to be a better game by default. Obsidian Entertainment is just a way more passionate and better developer.

Only disappointment I have with the patch is my following npc glitches often now. Little glitch like struggling to follow around a table or if I enter cockpit instead of entering ship the npc will wind up standing in my lap. Otherwise I am loving this game.

When is Bethesda going to fix the Starship Shield BUG!! I do not know what is causing this problem.... My Shield Skill is 4/4 which grants +60% Shield at lvl 3 and sometimes your shield absorbs 100% incoming damage at lvl4... But for some reason, my Shield rating reverts back to the standard ship shield rating, ignoring my Ship Shield skill. I am at level 87... But without my shield skill boost, my ship is destroyed before I can even engage in a star system of similar level and affects the quality of my loot, because in order to compete, I have to lower the difficulty level to at least easy.

I got bored with using auto turrets so was using my other weapons instead. Didn't realize I saved my game with the "auto turrets not working" bug til 20 levels later. I loaded a save from a month before so they'd work again because I don't think the patches fix bugs on already saved games & I wanted them to work. I hope yours gets fixed

We're not talking about a multiplayer online game...once you have completed the main quest, all factions and you have explored enough is obvious you are going to play something else... same happens with all single player rpg games, in time new content will be added and like other similar games community will go back to play it. I haven’t played Starfield for months (I play on Xbox), and I probably won’t come back until they fix some of the major things like less loading screens and at least add mod tools for console so I can get land rovers in my play-through (which will honestly probably happen long before they add official land rovers if they keep going at the extremely slow rate they’re currently adding stuff to Xbox). Then if they do that, the fact that the game is just a dialogue box simulator might be a bit more tolerable (I went in to this day one thinking there was something for everyone based on their marketing that made it seem that way, and I prefer FPS focused deep story games, which has not been the case at all from my experience. Even on high difficulty all the firefights, which rarely happen in the quests I’ve done, are extremely easy to me, and the weapon selection gets pretty stale after a while) If anyone has any quest recommendations that feature longer, more challenging firefights please tell me their name. I’ll happily change my opinion about how often firefights happen if I find more, but so far (in the 200 hours I played during the month after launch before I quit) I’ve had maybe two or three extended firefights that were at least fun, though maybe not challenging

I wanted to believe in this game so bad. I pinched Pennies for the collectors edition and was obsessed with any scraps of details or Information before release. I’ve never been so let down before. Bethesda did everything they could to make this nothing like outer worlds. The game has absolutely no soul. It is woke, sterile and just sad. I don’t see how they could possibly fix it. Neither BGS nor Microsoft are anywhere close to "broke". This game was certainly a financial disappointment, but it was also a money-maker. As for "wokeness" being the cause of that disappointment, I think most normal folk would blame it on shallow content and flawed mechanics. I'm pretty sure that representation of assorted ethnicities, genders, and non-standard preferences was only a problem for an unhinged minority.

History is telling. This game will not be fixed much. It was released in a sad state and since release barely anything has been done. They "embrace" modders because they create a base game and let others make something out of it. Their business model is moving forward to charging for mods. Loading screens. Boring story. No quirky interesting side quests. Cities feel lifeless and full of retarded NPCs with ridiculous eyes. No splash in water. No glass physics. Space flight is pointless. 1000s of planets but majority of them not worth visiting. Base building is broken, ridiculously time consuming and ultimately pointless. The writing is so awful that it is impossible to follow a coherent story line with multiple character names being dropped in who are immediately forgettable. It’s not a good game. Bethesdas heyday was Skyrim, which was and still is one of the greatest video games of all time. They reached their peak back then but are in a decline now. I’m not even going to bother buying the next elder scrolls because I guarantee it will be another major disappointment. The team is too big and comprised mostly of people who are not gamers or passionate about gaming. The creative spark has gone and I don’t know what they have to do to get it back.

Id-form issues is preventing people from playing the game unless they start over, or go into new game plus and lose everything they've collected and built, which really sucks when you have spent hundreds of hours and don't want to lose everything.. (they should just add a way to go into new game plus without having to lose anything, and this is easily done and explained story wise because you can move around any story or thematic issue with multiverse babble) Anyway, I'd say it's fair to say that this update IS desperately needed.. So personally I'll be playing other stuff until I see this is properly fixed.. And still waiting for a fix for ships being empty when you board them.. In space or on planets.. Which is seemingly also affecting at least one mission I know of, that I can't complete because of it as there's no enemies that leaves the ships, and you're supposed to kill them in order to proceed.

Among the biggest disappointments of this console generation. I can’t help but wonder what the hell Sony and Microsoft were thinking when they were both trying to get this game locked down as an exclusive. It’s not “bad” just unbelievably average and often boring. With this out of the way, I’m looking to Obsidian to show Bethesda how it’s done with The Outer Worlds 2.
