The glue is great but what about the refill cases! Let's find a new use :)

I find empty TicTac containers great for storing pins and needles. When travelling I’ve used my empty dental floss container useful for storing a bobbin of thread, hand sewing needles, pins and maybe some safety pins, plus the floss cutter is great for cutting the thread.

I’ve never used a glue pen so refilling it provided new insight❣️Another tip for permanent marker easily rubbed off plastic like those containers is to put a piece of clear transparent or packing tape over the writing once it dries. This keeps writing in place and legible. 👍

I love your ideas! The refill cases are small and convenient to carry beads or drills for my Diamond Painting projects. I use a label maker to note what's inside. TFS Laura!

Old sewing machine needles --- Gently drive them into drywall and use as "nails" to hang rulers and such. The small diameter of the needle leave a small hole that needs a minimal (if any) repair. Especially useful when renting. I wouldn't try to drive these "nails" into hard surface such as walls covered with paneling or knotty pine, for example.

we built a log home. my husband will mot let me put screws into the logs for all things I want to hang, so I use quilting pins. I use pliers to hold close to the top of pin and push into log. been working for many years, for items that hang all the time or decorations I want to put up, and we are both happy. lol

You could use them as a temporary pill container to use when travelling (with label)

I am not acquainted with glue stick refill canisters, but I store old dull sewing machine needles and bent straight pins in an empty pill bottle with a tight fitting lid for appropriate disposal.

You are looking slim and trim today! Great hint! (Especially: taking the broken needles to the pharmacy or doctor's office to add to their sharps box, my film container is getting full-ish). Sending lots of love 💝from sunny ☀Arizona 🌵

I use empty chap stick containers for the same purpose. Just soak them in hot soapy water for a few minutes to make sure they're clean inside. I have a ball of cheap Polymer clay ( dollar store variety ) I stick all old needles into the unbaked clay ball then when it's full I bake it in a low oven and toss in the trash. A ball lasts me about a year. Make sure it's Polymer clay.

I’ve always just thrown my dull needles and pins in the trash or I must admit suck them up in the vacuum. Am I breaking any laws? After giving it some thought it is rather irresponsible. Thanks for the tip and bringing safer needle & pin disposal to mind.
@oldtimerlee8820

There's a risk of someone pickup up / processing trash to get hurt. I keep and empty shaker top spice bottle to dispose of pins. Flip up the top, drop the pins in the holes. Periodically discard. Use a larger plastic jar or butter tub to discard sharps, including rotary cutter blades. BTW, after they become dull from fabric cutting, they can still have a second life for paper cutting. Then, when they are too dull for paper, dispose of them.
@denisemcintosh7568
@denisemcintosh7568 5 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't do that. Too easy for anyone processing trash to get stuck. I put mine inside metal cans my husband takes to the scrap yard. I have him crush the can so that nothing escapes.

I used to work in a hospital years ago, where X-rays were viewed all the time of feet and heels. People would complain of pain and when the X-ray would reveal a needle they wondered how did that get there? With numbing of feet, old age, etc, we don't feel a lot of things that enter our feet, so it takes a lil ounce of prevention to not have to find something in your X-rays. Always better to safely put a needle or pin away then to accidentally step on one that is hiding in your carpet.

I use a large clear vitamin bottle. That will hold the largest rotary blades as well as old machine needles and any other pins and needles that are bent during the sewing process. When it gets half way plus full I tape it closed with duct tape across the top and bring it to a pharmacy or doctors office.

I place them in round, lidded plastic gum containers, labeled: SHARPS; that's the medical term for used needles! Checked with my local refuse company & can tape the containers closed for disposal in regular trash.

I don't use these so I don't know the diameter, but it looks to be like they would be good "posts" for the large spools of thread. Get a box, hot glue those down to make a "post", then put the spool of thread on it. Keeps the thread upright in the storage box. They also seem like they would make good sewing kits. Cut a small piece of card stock strip, and wrap thread around it... maybe black and white, and add a sewing needle to make great little gifts for friends and neighbors. Great in a glove box, computer bag etc.
