As a swedish subscriber one thing that I'm constantly wondering about is: here I Europe all of our excavators have quick detach systems on them which means we have one machine to do several different jobs. As well ass in the forest we have machines like ponsee and rottne to do the felling/cutting to length. Why is it that something you guys don't use in the US? Not trying to offend anyone, just always wondered why that is.
@keegsmusic57465 жыл бұрын
We have quick couplers too but I imagine it's because they just don't want too pay the extra to get it when they bought the machine. And going from a digging setup to a logging setup is a bit more work than just swapping attachments there's hydraulic lines to get set up and pins to change possibly, etc, etc.........
@cathiwim4 жыл бұрын
Expense. Most people here start logging on a shoestring budget, many use equipment decades old. So thats probably what it is. Only the biggest outfits can afford that new stuff.
@deconteesawyer57583 жыл бұрын
Ha ha ha. Why do Americans not follow Sweden ? Americans value their freedom. You are sentenced to labor for the commie elite as slaves to the State with no pay for more than 20 years for the crime of being born in Sweden. 53% of a worker's wages straight to the State. We value our family more than the State commie party elite. We will not give up our right to defend them with our guns much less a simple knife, in order that the State sponsor and control the timber industry. Much better to live in a free world and allow free men to purchase and use the equipment they choose and work for themselves instead of the commie party elite.

@mfk123405 жыл бұрын
I believe they are comparable in price if you're looking at the same two sizes. The volvo may be a smidge more expensive. But all in all it doesn't really matter if it's a Cat or Volvo, as long as it doesn't have JCB written on the side then it's not a bad piece of equipment.
@toddreynolds88755 жыл бұрын
Lol why is jcb bad. Owned them before backhoe and excavator. Both were good. Just keep in mind jcb is the onlyyyyy. Heavy equipment company in the world with absolutely zero debt. 100% owned outright company. So ole john c branford must have done something right.
@toddreynolds88755 жыл бұрын
Im not gonna knock. Volvo. But. Wowww want to talk about a mixed breed. Until they got it together a few years ago. Man o man. They use to have poclain finals and jo blows pumps and totally junk. Then Akerman at least got them somewhere on the right track. You ever work on volvo stuff ohhh i have. Talk about. Out to lunch design they surely had it in the past.
@mfk123405 жыл бұрын
@@toddreynolds8875 Bear in my mind, most of my experience has been with CAT. So for the winter season we rented a couple JCB loaders, and they were garbage. The small loaders were supposed to have the universal skid steer attach, and that didn't work right and you weren't able to grease the pins, and because of that they'd freeze in place or just wouldn't work. And they just weren't as reliable as the caterpillar loaders. And we had a couple of the compact wheel loaders, I think they were 409s, and then we had a couple of the small wheel loaders, the 427s, and they all just felt sloppy and underpowered. And the controls weren't as smooth as the equivalent caterpillar models, and they didn't feel quite right. Granted I've only ever used their wheeled loaders, so they're backhoes and excavators may not be all that bad. But their loaders are absolute garbage.
@toddreynolds88755 жыл бұрын
I agree on Caterpillar they have there shit together for sure. To get 20 and 30 thousand hours from there loaders. And i agree there parts department is un touchable. But. I have had bad experience with my 430 cat backhoe. Almost new. And sucked a turbo down it. Like a month out of warranty and they would even take time of day to address anything about it. Out of all the machines ive ever owned. I would put Hitachi at the top of my list anyhow. Maby not everyone else

Is that lub or hydraulic oil he pours at the start there? Three gallons seems a lot if it is lubrication, because it implies it will be lost spread around the job site. Come to think of it, it doesn't matter if is lub or hydraulic oil. If it needs topping up that much then it means it is using it. It's not like the old total loss from eons ago, except even that still happens with two stroke engines. I think I'd better quit while I am behind. ;-)

What is the life expectancy of this machine using it for this Application ?
@13eckerlosmuerte5 жыл бұрын
A machine can last a lifetime if you take care of it, that's the problem with most operators these days is they run equipment into the ground by damaging it by not oiling, maintenance and being aware of their surroundings. What will go before the trackhoe is the cutter/grabber. Next would be your boom from hitting trees or have falling limbs. All depends on the company and how they utilize their equipment to the fullest but to the safest route
@clydeacor19115 жыл бұрын
It'll last longer as a cutter than it would as a digger because this kind of work doesn't really work the machine. But the undercarriage will wear faster because of all the traveling it does.
