Thanks Chris for a real great video. Why I say this is because I am just shy of 80 and I did many things that you are doing at your age now. Straps, chains and binders and loading and unloading, when working on the CN railway here in Ontario Canada. Jumping up and down off flat beds and trucks it was a great life but now things have gotten much slower as it will with you. Love your videos. Keep your health and enjoy life.

That cupped tire wear pattern is indicative of a toe-in or toe-out condition. The axle may have been bent at some point.
@corpnut29065 жыл бұрын
My experience with that cupping is tire drag on too tight of turn my trailer I pull is a 48’ conastoga with the tandems set all the way to the rear happens a lot along with a light trailer and having to use brakes hard makes it bounce along with the other issues others have said

I had a tire wear out like that on my RGN. Replaced it, and it’s replacement wore like that again. Had the entire axle taken apart and found the axle bushings were worn down. I had done all the standard checks and adjustments made before taking the axle apart, such as pressure checks, alignment, balancing, checking of suspension components, etc.

I don't usually comment because I watch on my TV but had to comment on this one. I thoroughly enjoy all your videos but particularly the ones when you're driving through that beautiful NC country-side. I had to move from NC here to the Dallas Texas area over 30 years ago for my job and have missed it every single day since. I do get back once a year for a couple of weeks to visit my daughter in Cary but cry all the way home when we leave. Keep up the good work.

I tell all the kids in our volunteer FD who wanna be"driver's" you'd have to drive better in reverse using the mirrors ONLY & no sticking your head out the driver's side window in order to "pass" my driving class ! And 99% of them fail miserably. Go set up traffic cones in a parking lot and practice until you can back up and not hit any cones !!! That's how I learned when I got my articulated license before it was a CDL

It's not an axle alignment issue like others are saying, as the inside tire and the tires on the opposite side would look the same. Likely a bent wheel.

Where are possible and legal a fitting is made called a “push to connect” There are a number of different types obviously metric and SAE and you want the ones if legal in your state that have DOT on them. Instead of fooling around with ferrules and nuts, just wipe the tubing off and stick it in the fitting and the O-ring seals it and the fingers grip it. A little lubrication in the form of petroleum jelly, dish soap or oil in a very slight amount of either on the tubing and it pushes in perfect. The tubing is removable follow the directions. Fast and easy. And assortment of sizes that you use for your tubing for air brakes will get you rolling quickly. If the tubing allows you could cut the bad section out and put a repair connector in between and it probably would take two minutes. I have considered that you may know about this already but if you don’t it’s just something to help you. 60% of all hose and tubing failures are from rubbing.

David's duck have gotten big! So how much do you charge for a job ? ......minus the repairs on equipment. Payments on trucks, equipment and trailers, fuel, time to move equipment, travel time, wear on equipment, insurance, permits, salaries, oil and lube, let's not forget about taxes ...alot of folks say wow 100,000 or 200,000 for one job. While that sounds like alot of money and it is but most fail to remember all the expenses that are paid OUT for what is brought IN.

Install valve extenders and you won't have any more problems airing up those inside tires. Just sayin'. ;-) edit: I know you and John like to save money where you can, not unlike any of us really. But I'm warning you now. If you keep lifting up those heavy ass'd ramps like you do, you're gonna be all stove up like I am when you're 55; like I am. For the love of God man get a trailer with a ramp (or ramps) that fold themselves up. You'll thank me when you're older.

@larryehrlich87025 жыл бұрын
If you are going to be off by 5 pounds on your air pressure...then always be off 5 pounds high...never low. Why? With low air pressure the side walls are flexing alot. Flexing causes heat and heat leads to blowouts. If you are 5 pounds over pressure, then the center tread will slightly more. Always be at or overinflated!
