This knot is 803 of abok. Which is a wall and diamond knot .if you tie your granny knot the other way round it dose make a crown and diamond knot.
@WhyKnot7 жыл бұрын
Yes this is Abok #803 it is the mirror of #784. You are also correct that if you tie the granny knot the other way you get the crown and diamond #784. Both knots are however a crown followed by a diamond knot. One left handed one right handed.

On page 116 of abok. Knot 671 Ashley writes the wall knot is the exact reverse of the crown. OK. But then he makes a mistake by writing that if either of the knots is turn upside down becomes the other knot .this is a fallacy they rotate in different directions wall clockwise crown anticlockwise. Also knot 1203 is a wall knot not a left handed crown.

Actually ABOK #784 and ABOK #803 are identical - the one different is the direction. They are mirrored. As you tie this left over right instead of right over left as shown in ABOK for the crown and diamond variations of course it is orientated as ABOK #803. Obviously even Ashley didn't see that. Another riddle solved. Thank you for the instruction, Tom. It is not easier or faster, but is quite interesting and the technique bears remblance to the Jug Sling knot.

The crown knot goes anticlocke wise but the wall knot goes clock wise

I've always known a wall knot to be an upside down crown knot. It too being able to be tied both clockwise and anticlockwise.
