Yeah, Radpower QC is not great... they'll send you replacement parts (up to a point), but if it's something worse that you can't fix/replace at home, their service is proprietary, so you must go to a Radpower licensed repair shop. If there isn't one close by, you will have to travel however far the first one is and possibly leave your bike with them for multiple days. If your bike is your main mode of transportation, that's a big problem.

And now my Fiancé has sold HER car, and rides a RadExpand. The bag taper can be a feature, especially if your rear triangle is small. On my racier bike with a small rear triangle (that I converted to a commuter with rack & panniers), I would hit the pannier with my heels while pedaling. The tapered Ortlieb bags work fine, though. I really wish riding to work & groceries didn't feel like I am risking my life.

Oh boy! This experience mirrored my own shockingly closely. I got the 5 Plus High Step and within a few months the rear motor became unresponsive. Rad CS was very prompt and helpful and I had to replace the motor controller as well - only thing is that in my case the swap didn't fix things and the next option was to replace the entire motor :( Since that part was backordered for numerous months instead of one or two I asked if there was anything else they could do and they replaced the entire bike under warranty. Shipping it back was a pain, but I can't complain when the new one has been going strong without showing any signs of slowing down. I wonder if mine was from a similar batch but I doubt it since mine has the Mezzo Microshift instead of the original Shimano components since I purchased during the supply crunch. Though I own a car I've put more miles on my bike than my car since I've gotten it, just hit 500 miles (on the new one) and I couldn't be happier!

I looked on the website to see the specs of the bike and what they ask for it in the Netherlands. It is not a bike for me, but for the price and that you can replace parts yourself, it is very nice. The bike is very easy to maintain, something that us way harder with those mid motors. The battery capacity depends on what battery you got. I must say that even do it has budget parts on it, it aren't bad parts. Battery is a nice size and it uses a torque sensor. Overall, I am impressed with the bike, especially for that price, it is a nice bike. I don't know the quality of the frame, but I think it will be fine. I wouldn't have taken those bags. I would have taken the Ortliebs. I have them and it seems you have them also with an other branding on it. They are very good, expensive, but very good. Only thing that is probably a problem, is that you are stuck with that battery. I prefer to build my own batteries. It is way cheaper, even with A grade cells. You can make them bigger and that gives way more range. A battery has a surten amount of times that you can charge it and the bigger the battery, the less you need to charge it, the bigger range you get and the longer it will give you power. The drop-off is way slower and you can feel that. But other than that, nice bike. I prefer a men's bike and Koga Miyata, but that is because I have now 2 and as you have ever used a Koga, you don't want anything else. It is the best bike there is. It is hard to explain, but you feel it as you ride on it.

If you get the 750 watt motor for use in Canada, then it'll exceed the specs for a Class 2 ebike, and be called an "electric motor-driven cycle" or some such. (Slight variations by province, but the 500 watt motor limit is common.) Then you may have to register it like a scooter and get liability insurance and, I dunno, have to get a driver's license to operate it. It is a stupid regulation though, since there are still 32 km/h speed governors. Some extra hill-climbing power wouldn't hurt anybody.
@LisaMiza

That's a hecking fancy bike alright! I'd lie if i'd say I'd not want something like that 😄 My parents bought me a SCO (Danish brand) e-bike in like 2016 to go 7 km to the train for school every day, nothing fancy, practically a Target bike if they cared at least a little about bikes. Served me awesome for my 3 years of study, and now as a city bike for work - Only problem is the battery casing geometry is really awkward for replacing the cells, driving the price up a bit - Well worth it since it's not much extra for a lot less waste and I was able to get the ranged extended from like 20 km to 40 km! That Radbike of hers look to be more conventionally dimensioned so here's hoping It'll be a cost effective replacement once that time comes! And yes, you're both totally valid about the bikes making you sit in different positions. Sport bikes makes it better for speed and the like, whereas upright is a lot more comfy, and most importantly; quite a bit safer in traffic, especially if cars are getting bigger/taller
