It's the editing that really sets Leo apart. If he could find an editor he works well with and keep the same raw yet polished style he'd have so much more time. Leo constructs each video really well but as he'd still have to film and narrate sections, with the right guidance each video an editor could pull it off. more money tho.

We never know what good may come from seemingly bad events. The legal troubles in Sequim triggered this change at what now appears to be exactly the right time. The new location, surroundings and combinations of available talent & resources are sure to have amazing effects on the project.

Although its a good move for progress on the boat, it would have been better for the move to have occurred in a natural time-line, rather than the project suffer forced acceleration to meet an arbitrary timeline, and the complete waste of resources on legal crap. Grumpy ass holes need to mind their own damn business. Better they move to a neighborhood with an HOA lead by an angry OCD Hitler like personality.

To be fair, having basically a temporary boat yard next door is not for everyone. I think we tend to forget that we would be happy to have such a project next door but a lot of people would not. Especially people who live in a semi-rural/ rural residential area. I think we should not demonise that person. A solutioin was found that suited everyone in the end. Before you have a go at me, FYI I was one of many who wrote to the council and encouraged them to find a solution without shutting down the project.

I think initial site was needed for all parties involved and benefited all parties involved. All too often, we overlook the benefit of struggling with others toward the same pursuits. This story emphasizes the overwhelming benefits of shared love and passion. the rewards are documented in this series, in full color. The drama involved to derail this only fueled the fire of forward progress and invigorated the community of participants. I commend you for your participation and defense of this project. I do not condemn you statement, I acknowledge it and support it. Change is constant, and forward progress always requires sacrifice and conviction. Pain is always around the corner, so make sure it counts when you take it. This project has proven that the hero's journey is worthwhile in my opinion. As a tradesman myself, I understand the struggles I've watched in this series on a personal level, even tho I've never built a wooden boat. You can't make this shit up, real life is always more amazing. Im willing to put money on the bet, 90% or more of the struggle isn't presented. And still, I find myself deeply emotionally invested in this project. The Pain, the Self Doubt, the Faith and the Connections you discover during such a journey is incalculable in the long run. Most want the stick, until they wield it. This series, to me, has been a documentary of a master who wanted the stick, and came to understand what it is to wield it. You can watch Marvel movies and Star Wars with made up crap and tropes for your kicks, its just fantasy. We all try to bring our dreams into reality. To watch someone else willing to document the struggle in real time and share with us... Priceless!

A friend introduced me to Leo and Tally Ho almost at the very beginning. I started with video 2, I think. I've binge-watched all these videos (when my time has allowed) a full 3 times already. Always superb fun to be reminded of what Leo and the team have overcome and achieved. Another equally marvellous channel, if you don't know it already, is Acorn To Arabella - really impressive work being done there too.. I binge watch their videos when I can. On reflection, I somehow have far too much spare time, so I need another project of my own to pursue... 😊

Having watched you from perhaps 6 months into your project I have to say how consistently impressed I have been with the project and your adaptation to it and the volunteers who arrived to help. I do understand that this is an 'amateur' documentary (as many will remind me no doubt) but being 68 years old and having watched many supposedly 'professional efforts along similar lines; costing one has to assume in the local vernacular, Bucketloadsamoney, I have been mightily impressed with the combined efforts of your assembled crew. Whilst, not all who have participated have been naturals on camera, (Pete, in particular, to begin with) the project has nevertheless produced some distinct Tally Ho 'personalities'. And really it has been such a pleasure to watch the development of the people, their issues, the boat and 'challenges' en route so to speak, the honesty, the humour and yes the integrity is admirable and all in a time in society where these virtues are not always appreciated and most assuredly not expected, having just watched the latest video of the move to Port Townsend, it's so pleasing to see Pete and yourself enthused and confident in the next moves. Sorry this is a tad long winded; but I felt the need to say just how much I, and I am sure many many others look forward to the next post. thanks again john shannon.

Your skills as a shipwright are outstanding , but what I've also noticed is your ability to have a different beautiful woman helping you out in nearly every episode! Like I said, I'm impressed! I would love to see Tally Ho sailing into Wellington harbour one day. Massive Respect from New Zealand. Cheers Brent

What a beautiful set up, doesn’t hurt to smell the sea air too. Looking forward to the engine installation. It makes sense to have that installed before putting down the deck…cheers 😊👍🇬🇧🇨🇦

One theory I like is to complete the hull and deck, then install the systems, tanks, wiring and so on. I built new tanks for my trawler and would love to explain why that’s a good idea

@@vidguy007 yeah people always think it’s best to install everything then build around it. Unless you are building a design you have already built, so you know exactly where everything goes and how much room it will need. It’s best to build then install. That way when it’s time for it to come back out later down the road you know it can actually come out without cutting the boat all up.

Patrick is quite talented. Glad you made it to such a perfect place. The interaction with other boatbuilders and marine trades can do nothing but make Tally Ho even better during the final phases. 2 more years!

So good to see Tally Ho (and Leo!) next to the sea, where they belong. It only struck me today, how little actual sea we've seen over the last 'two' years. Good to see Pancho again too - that should keep the viewing numbers up! The only sad thing is how much Tally Ho has shrunk - all these years she's been such a huge boat, but now she looks so small in that enormous shed...

Yes Tally-Ho gets a bit of a reality check. And smaller still next to all the other boats in that busy yard.

You have been an inspiration! I've gotten off my butt and made some long overdue repairs to my workshop. I've now discovered that I need a dedicated wood working area, so it appears that I'll soon be expanding the existing shop area. Thanks for sharing and reigniting my enthusiasm for tinkering on my various projects!

The new shop looks great, Leo, definitely looks the part. Seeing Pancho just brought a huge smile to my face. Tally Ho might be the lead, but she is definitely a strong supporting actress and, without her, I don’t think the story could be told quite as well.

This is the most wholesome series I watched this year, all 103 episodes of it! Thank you Leo for letting us be a part of it! It will be a long 2 years until we can see Tally Ho on water! Until then: I really hope you made up your mind and you will recast the Ballast keel! It is a huge and difficult task I know, but it will be much more safer, without cracks and air pockets from the original casting heat shrinkage. You will regret later if you don't do it now! It will have the same atoms, just remelted, it will be still 95% old material! Keep up the good work for the next 2 years! Give or take! :D

Just remember that he asked that no one just stop by. Email him first, if you wish to visit, and get permission/make an appointment. People just stopping by/"crashing the party" is a good way to break the flow of work. If you are just trying to see the boat in person, from a safe distance, then I don't see why that would be a problem, unless a bunch of people are doing it too much, causing a traffic problem in the port.

Amazing. Such a vital and authentically nautical area where the new work space is and I'm in awe of everyone involved. Patrick's ceramic pottery work is so elegant and Rowan's NYC library project is also pretty neet. After these videos I always feel inspired or compelled to say something but at the same time I feel like I can't say enough to express just how impressed I am by the whole thing and everyone involved. That leaves me a loss of words more often than not. I'm blown away both by how hard you all work but also by how much enjoyment or gratification you all seem to get from the work. On one hand, I almost feel sympathetic body aches from watching and imagining the physical work load. On the other hand, I confess feeling a bit envious, wishing I could be a part of the project, the crew and the community their. I always look forward to seeing every new biweekly video. Thank you.

And now you’ve got a commercial boat building set up started. Well done Skipper, this is a beautiful dream to live out. The passive yet productive reaction to the very unfortunate situation you just overcame while working with the help of your new family members just gave you a boost in life, beautiful solution. I’m sort of annoyed that you’re doing this in the US as I’d love to get involved.. if I were there now, I’d be using your old boatshed structure to separate Tally Ho work space with polythene sheet from the rented out section to reduce contamination from any fibreglass or steel grinding dust.
