New World Combat Is Evolving And Returning To Some Of Its Roots!

Today, the New World Balance of Power episode for January 2024 came out, in which the devs discussed very significant combat changes coming this year.

With the heavy attack, what they should do is Link it with a special power. Either precede/Lead into or succeed/ finish off with. Ifoe you get a mini buff or boost, debuff or evade depending on how you use it. It could open up a whole new art to fighting.

Stoked about mana regen finally getting addressed! Faster regen with a faster burn seems like the obvious solution for eliminating the 1-click then walk around flamethrower players.

How bad are you at the game that you think thats even an issue. The mana problem is being out of mana mid fight and dying because of it when mana managment in this game was king prior to that. I legit wont come back untill they fix mana bullshit. They fucked it all up just to have the abyss atre...

FINALLY they are changing the life staff tree. I was always confused why orb and other Right-side skills did so much healing and actually OUT HEALED left-side skills. Even though it is AOE healing, i think Left-side should be great at healing and right-side should buff the hell out of the allied players

Hopefully they fix the war hammer tracking. It's a fun weapon, but sometimes it's like fighting with a spoon. I can't even reach someone directly in front of me. Moving while charging might help war hammer feel 10x better.

The biggest issue I had with the game is how awful swapping weapons felt. That’s what made me quit. It made the combat feel so clunky.

I play light melee sns/h mostly. O Half my sword attacks are heavy, not charged heavy, basic heavy. It's fast and you can combo with shield bash without burning shield rush to land it

If they Buff the Dodge from light or nerf the dodge from medium Armor than light is totally Broken cos everyone will play Musket with 80 or 50 con & makes more dmg than now. The Musket dmg is actually ridiculus high. Ive lost some OPRs cos there was a 5Man Musket Team that moved together & killed all.

Hi we are the musket union. The damage is actually really bad when even compared to bow. The bow is better in every aspect. We also just lost a ton of damage and killed int musket builds with this patch. Also when I use 5 con yes I hit hard but I also die to a sneeze from anything.

Armor x5 Enchanted, 10%Elemtal Resist & 5%Phiscal resist on Top my gear has 5% Thrust condition. If i want to evade a Musket shot i need to predict the shot cos the Bullet is too fast. You guys shoot,evade & shoot again cos an evade reloads your Gun. The only way i can kill Musket is on distance with the right evade prediction or you dont see me while im coming from the side & Kill you fast cos 1 Crippling Powder shot is my End & you can shoot from 1124114124miles I will try to block the shots with my staff if thats easy im deleting my comment.

When they say it, translation just means moving. Homing will mean your aim/look moving, translation is the lunge. Or vice versa. They weren't super clear on it but I don't think it matters, they were just talking about the two elements of their lunge mechanic (and I've got to be honest, I really dislike it... you can't "translate" or home any ranged shot, I've still got no idea why we have it for melee - we should still have to aim imo, and if our aim isn't good enough then our character should swing/leap/lunge into fresh air like an idiot - I am somewhat OK with the lunge motion if we're targeting something that's at the upper limit of the weapon's range, or not if the target is close, but the whole auto aim thing really.... _really_ winds me up).

I think this is the begining of the end, kds left nysa for abaton yesterday i anderstand why they do this. It`s what i have been forced to be doing now for 3 years shasing pvp content and it split up companys and brerak serv balance-faction balance am staying for me it's just principle same low popularity every year and then after maj get another content but it cost 15e every time your moving not all can afford this ore like me whant to and most of us are pvp players the other part is pve and they are new players soon to get bored same thing happens every year.

I don't think they are smart enough, also they are casual players (and not gamers), they have little to no background exp with RPGs/MMOs, and last and the saddest they don't play their game. So about balance when it comes to passive persistence after swap, that ain't gonna happen. Their only solution is to do the metagame, when some weapons are better for half a year and the next half the others or some of them. The truth is there are many weapons, many spells/passives, and also wars, invasions, pvp arena, pvp opr, open world pvp, open world pve, mutation pve and also mutation speedruns, so a balance for all of them combined is almost impossible (see boltcaster/elemental conversion pvp bug).

broken houseing system, 20 scrolling titles every time I transition, Broken buff bar (thats been "fixed" half a dozen times but not actually fixed, OPR Q issues (Big issue for me since Ive run it 500 times this season).... etc...etc...etc... game breaking bugs never fixed. I recall like a year ago them syaing there would be a quarter of nothing but bug fixes.... where is it? Why continue to work on more content when half the game is broke.

2,300+ hours into the game, and rebalancing while adding new mechanics for the sake of pvp is still a thing, while pve continues to have broken issues, more of which will come due to catering to pvp....

I expected New Worlds combat system to be better.. I'm level 15.. I've looked over each weapons attacks/abilities.. Not impressed. I think it's great that you can change weapons/builds on the fly.. but I really don't believe they have a good vision for a worthy combat system in 2024. This system is one I would expect from a 2014 video game. A lot has changed in a decade.. Why aren't these developers aware of this?! 🙄

The vast majority of the player base plays New World FOR its combat system. I'm really not sure what you're referring to here. There are plenty of things to criticize about the game, but that one is almost universally agreed upon to be a very good aspect of the game.
