Instead just updating the OPR map with more cover which is why bow gets so many complaints, AGS decided to join in on the bow hate. Aside from the constant nerfs, they're basically punishing players who dedicate enough time to actually be good at it. The best argument against the nerfs is a five-minute conversation with the average pro-nerf player.

so i felt this was going to be a thing. thrust was going to be scuffed with armor scaling thurst protection etc. so i decided that im going to make 2 builds. 1 all nature, 350 dex, 150 int. with either the VG arti, or the blundy arti. instead of leaning into thrust on ring pick up a poisoning/nature dmg/hearty ring (tanglevine) throw a 50% amber in your bow and get nature harness on all your gear. now the nature side of your bow is hitting like a truck. foresake the thrust, there is just way to much defense against thrust.

i think people just complain about range players to complain because they dont know how to get better, the truth is a melee player matching into a ranged player is not meant to win that fight, you have to be extremally good and outplay them to win and that is just how ranged vs melee is supposed to be, its not meant to be easy its not meant to be winnable, that's why you need ranged players on both sides.

Been running 400 dex 165 con and eating strength food to get 50 pretty much all of season 3, syncretic bow and lifetaker, empowering explosive arrow, lasting rain of arrows and red hot slag upgraded with void damage, DOT build, always top damage in arenas, good video though! Didn’t even know there was the 14% debuff in pvp. And can I get a big F for most of my time in arenas running away from SS/spear and serenity overheads

I just watch another video that basically said you have to get away from thrust dmg and go full elemental dmg. Have arboreal attunement for nature/void/lightning and basically spec your runeglass gems to all be elemental as well for +2 dmg on each piece. I chose nature because nobody is going to run nature prevention gems so I have arboreal amber runeglass on everything

I'm mainly playing musket, but not because is better, I just like the weapon style more. And it pairs well with the rapier so yeah, some extra mobility. But muskets and bows have in OPR -16%. And the Fire Staff has -5% only. Running over 25% fire resistance and still I get nuked by that. Even if I'm landing all my shots + cannon rune on a healer.... He just " Boop " to 100% hp. I don't mind if he's healing the team for that much, but the healer should also care about positioning in my opinion ..

You are missing some things :( I'm a musket player for the last 2 years, I reroll bow this xpac because damage are insane with more health, more mobility option + larger projectile hit box and it is sooooo better to play Missing things : 50 Strenght : you will have a simple +10% damage on all heavy attack, if you are a bow player you know you will always try to use heavy attack when abilities are on cooldown 25 focus : 5% CDR easy with the attuned pants, you just need to put 10 points here for 5% CRD, it's amazing imo 25 intelligence : (you take it, so nice) Wearing attuned leather pants to help you reach those stats 678 GS I have : 50 strenght 413 Dex (or 461 if you are good at kitting) 26 intell 25 focus 150 con (or 100 if you are good at kitting) WITH 48 FOOD I have a VERY budget gear, most part are tanglevines set (free) so physical aversion + thrust conditionning, I slot ruby gem and moonstone so I have +21% SLASH reduction, +6.5 THRUST reduction ( but + 12 %when I take a thrust shoot) IF YOU STRUGGLE TO READ DISTANCE PATTERN, take 21% resi here and go less on slash reduction (21% base + 12% after taking one hit) +23% FIRE reduction I'm soooo much tankier than when I was a musket it's not even close Running full sighted runegalss on armor + opal runeglass dot for weapon (but IF YOU WANT MORE DIRECT DAMAGE go normal opal, you will have +3% damage) In large scale you slot a ring with bleed timer, in low scale you use thrust damage ring (just for information, without +7% ring damage AND the 50 strenght step, you just lose 17% damage on every heavy attack right now add to that a normal opal +3% damage you will have +10% damage on all abilities and + 20% on all heavy attack related to what you have know. it's big, very big... dot build is good without stuff, but I guaranty you that heavy + penetrating shoot allow me to 2 shoot people in OPR even if I'm not 700 GS) You are playing rapier, so yeah your build is not maxed for range damage but hibryd melee. with the absurd rapier artifact you can't have best distance damage and best melee damage. RUN VOID GAUNTLET ARTIFACT IF YOU WANT TO FOCUS ON BOW DAMAGE. With one heavy attack, with désintegration dot + bleeding from keenly jagged dot + runeglass dot you remove 30% health on a bruiser. You can run explosive shoot with 2nd perk for fire dot + poison arrow AND rain of arrows. just with 2 of those ability landed, you dot ennemy to death at an absurd point In OPR you can even go further in the greed by taking oblivion spell on void, giving you +15% damage for 6s. Dodge until reaching exhaust , put oblivion, switch bow, heavy (it apply the desintegrate stack so -10% armor) + penetrating shoot and tell me you are not one shooting light player ^^ I swear with this build I crush all musket player I know for a long time with less days of practice on the bow

Thank you for sharing this information, I was using VG / Bow and found great success. I made this video to let people know what has changed and ways to remedy it. The thing that is annoying right now id it seems DoT builds are the way to go. Rapid shot just super weak atm and I have yet to find a way to help with that.

Dot build is the way because we are not maxed and bow is one the most insane AOE build right know for long fight, in OPR you rain of arrow + poison arrow + explosive shot (without perk that reduce radius) you will see everybody running mid life/low life AND full dot in the area x') + if you have the void, i don't know if it is a bug or not because long time ago they have fixed it, every arrow your hit reduce cooldown (the refreshing move from void gauntlet apply to bow) + use refreshing x4 + 25 focus for 5% CRD and you will be able to break group of people at an insane rate @@ItzTermx

no your 100 percent correct. I took a long break right after brimstone came out. i just came back. I got to 65, my GS is already 675, i was like yeah better bow. I was like WTF, like it felt like i was shooting silly string at things, not arrows. so i tried a OPR, and was not doing crap for damage. then i hooked up with some of my old buddies who are playing. and they told me bow is crap now. outside of PvE its pretty useless, and its even more useless in new content. SO Great Axe Great Sword it is. put on some trench heals and other heals, and well i almost dont need heals. thats complete trash. This is what WoW started to do for cry babies, nerfing classes into the dust. the only one that survived years without getting touched were retobution paladins.

In most PVP (Especially Wars and OPR) content, bow targets should only be light armor targets. Even when bow slapped, it's wasn't as worth going after a heavy or medium.

with 350-400 Dex and bloodletting or poison (extension ) jewellery you can 3 shot many in OPR as they are still running glass cannon builds. 3 hits (one of each ability) and watch the dots do their thing. Add + nature dmg to that and its actually crazy the amount of dmg dots do at the moment.

So, I'm really not sure where to start with this, but here goes nothing: You're more or less correct here, but the damage formula is wayyy more complicated. 10% thrust resist won't reduce your heavy from 150% to 140%, it reduces it from 150% to 135%. Gems are treated the same way as old fortify was. Thrust conditioning (not popular afaik) is also old fortify. Physical aversion is base damage reduction though, but even then the calculation isn't so simple. It's 1.50*(all your base damage modifiers - .10). Bow has quite a few base damage modifiers, so in reality 10% physical aversion is only reducing your actual damage by around 7%, or less depending on the situation (perhaps even 0% if you are over base dmg cap >:)). When it comes to bow vs other ranged classes though I don't think it's really that bad. FS is by far the most versatile ranged weapon in the game for sure, but I still think the two core bow playstyles are viable. Skirmisher bow builds are actually really good in S3 with the 300 dex change and can opt for a shirking heals setup with tumbler shoes or an enchanted ward setup with attuned pants. The DoT backline bow playstyle definitely works as you have pointed out. I think in order for the single target backline playstyle to work, you have to play towards empower cap on your nature damage (nature dmg ring, nature dmg armor/weapon, poisoning/IP on ring, nature harnessing on armor) and maybe even go 150 int. I haven't been able to test this out or watch someone test it out myself though.

@@ItzTermx Alright I actually had time to lab this a little bit today and go into OPR with it. If you've already gotten a comment like this earlier then my bad, I kinda skimmed them. TL;DR: Bow definitely still does a lot of burst damage with glass cannon (at least for now), you just have to put points into intelligence (150) if that's what you want to do. I am by no means the best player, but my main piece of feedback for the build you show in the video is to commit harder to a playstyle. Skirmisher builds do damage by kiting their enemies to infinity and for that, RoA isn't very good, especially compared to something like explosive arrow which has more burst and is easier to use at close range (plus jagged is all the bleed you need for a skirmish). Featherweight is also really outclassed by attuned leather pants and tumbler shoes for that kind of build imo. There may be exceptions in there for SnS/Bow builds though. I was testing out a rat build (read: backline playstyle) using completely unremarkable gear in OPR on 350 dex 150 int 25 str and it still did a lot of damage. My gear was extremely scuffed, but I did have finisher and the artifact pants. Everything else was under 680 or upscaled in OPR. Opal in my bow with thrust/hearty/RFE on my ring, 30 stat food, the cheapest honing stone, and the same bow I used for maybe the past year with attunement, jagged, and vicious. The biggest explosive arrow hit I got was around 5k. 4k for the fire damage and 1k for attunement, the thrust damage (which did not crit), and the initial DoT procs. The 100 int passive and 150 int passives both apply to the elemental damage you deal with your bow, and they do a LOT of damage on top of all of the base damage boosts bow already has. Now, obviously glass cannon builds this early on will pretty much always do damage, but I hope I've made my point. I would be surprised if there was a single full BiS rat bow player right now considering the perceived strength of bow as a class in organized PvP going into the patch, and the extremely high price of CD mats. There really aren't any farmable BiS pieces for a rat build except arguably the jagged/enchanted bow that drops in Brimstone, and you'll need to build like a rat if you want to burst people. Harnessing perks on your armor, ranged damage runeglasses on your armor, and maybe even empowering toast on your earring if you feel like going full degen (I will try this at some point).

I am a returning player and I saw a LOT of bows in comparison to other weapons in pvp and pve content. This probably tells me that it is (or was) the meta(favorite) not so long ago. With that little info you can prob tell why it got nerfed that hard, it happens a lot in competitive games where they just check statistics and see which weapons have more dmg/kills, etc. Lost ark for example, they always nerf the class with the most dmg in the new raid after 3 months. Valorant also does that after checking big tournaments, Lol, csgo, etc. But all those games when trying to balance the meta, fail; cause they just nerf it to the ground. They don't know when a nerf is balanced enough. It might be a little bit different in New World, but my guess is that they are going to buff it a lil bit after checking stats, I hope. Also "Skill ceiling" applys to this but I wouldn't dare to touch a mechanic of the bow cuz it feels pretty smooth imo.

Bow has recieved a 73% Damage nerf since Release. AGS needs to learn the Damage is not the reason the game turned into BowPR, its the Lowered Skill Floor that made it this way, just make the Hitbox harder to hit once again and everyone will be happy (less Bad players throwing matches, more Bow mains chilling with no nerfs).

so i think the bow was and in a good spot when this video came out. i am mainly a bow war and bow opr player and it was fine. the main issue is this build... this is an AOE bow build. of course the damage is lacking. In opr it works cause is abusing the poor solo players that might not have a healer to keep them up. but as soon as a healer is in the picture. you are useless with this build. since it lacks burst damage from explosive and rapid or pen shot.

To be honest, saying that "just bow" has lost so much is wrong. The problem is enchanted ward gives u -20% dmg received on autos for all classes, which is busted. My autos as firestaff deal almost no dmg to that combination aswell, which sucks. also ppl stacks much trust protection, so just go elemental gem and is fine.

@@ItzTermx take into account, fire staff is all fire damage, so its super easy to make it worthless. While bow, can covert 50% damage into elemental, apply poison, nature and bleed, which are things ppl dont protect. Not to say, The Wall blocks 25% elemental damage, and not to say there exist fire elemental absorption pots that grant 15% fire damage reduction. I mean, there are way too many things to reduce damage, and I find it kind of unbalanced. Ofc ppl that doesnt protect well against their counters,are going to explode. My server is full of archers and they chunk me, even with protections, cause as I said, there is no real protection against all diff types of dmg. But elemental weapons have such an easy counter even with pots. Also archers get a 20% free boost just by using ammo, lol

@@scottvaughn6385 yes, but eleemntal gems lose power the more you transform the less int scaling. So its better on other than int weapons for that reason. Also elemntal aversion is more frequent than physival av, cause eleemntal aversion block dmg from bows changing to elemental too

Staff heavies hit medium for ~1.5k with burns at 400 int, will take 12 or more back-to-back heavies to down someone At 400 dex bow heavies WITH bleeds hit medium for for ~4k, 3-4 back-toback heavies to kill

If you go 419 dex your bow gets to 1700. Then run 50 strength and 150 con and the bow hits great. You need 50 strength for heavy attack 10% damage. Not sure why ypu only get the 5% light. I almost never light attack

Yeah man this is true and it sucks. I dont know why they cant just get PvP properly balanced in this game where anyone can run whatever they want and still be viable. I know there will always be metas but like you said its just laughable right now how useless some weapons are in PvP. If I wanted to run a DoT build I wouldnt be playing bow, so cant we atleast get some kind of love? I would just take the stamina back at this point. AGS...guys...what is going on? Ive never played an MMO where you couldnt just go for a crit build but these devs seem to really love their firestaffs and tanks. In any situation thats all it will take, a tank a firestaff and a healer..game over. Its not even just the bow, atleast 30-50 percent of the weapons in the game are useless in any PvP environment. I dont want to just be another firestaff greataxe dude just to win. So boring and frustrating.

Never said the bow is not usable, just not the best. Every server is different, everyone has different gear. BIS vs BIS you will notice a LARGE difference.

Bow is in a bad spot? Meanwhile everyone plays it in OPR and Rain of Arrows smacks hard and has the longest DoT. Definitely not stronger than FS or Musket

No, it's around 8%. Old bow damage value was 67 and in PvP, it got reduced to 62. However in the patch notes, it's stated that bow damage got increased to 72 but that's only for PvE. Explosive arrow with the perk if you want single target. Headshots CLAP light armor players otherwise... that's it. As a piece of shit OPR tank i run 4 thrust damage mitigation perks. Bows hit me for a whopping 1.2k with a heavy to the head and explosive arrow has hit me for 3k to the head.

@@Whatevs886I’m doing okay with bow still with nearly 3k hrs on the weapon, but I will say comparatively bow is in a weak spot. Non-heavy melees can 2-3shot bows, FS absolutely nukes with 0 skill bc every ability is a 4m aoe you barely have to aim, fireballs hitting 6k+ at times. Meanwhile bow is hitting a lot of 2k-3k with heavy attacks, which should be our highest dmg.

lol. Low dmg? I mean if you're shooting ppl with light armor, your dmg is totally fine. If you're shooting med and heavy guys, what the * do you want? Why would you want 3k heavies against ppl that got 4 times as much defense as you do? huh? If this would be the case, I'd say fine. But if I hit you once, you die. I don't see good players complain, only casuals.
