Question ginger: I downloaded the controller mapping you used on steam. I am running into an issue (elite series controller and razer Wolverine) the controllers lose button mapping randomly… I then have to open the map or menu do something (typically add a waypoint and remove) and then the controller works again.. Does anyone have any thoughts?

One video I’d love to see is what kind of improvements new world has had since launch. It could even be a playlist that you could continuously add on to as time progresses. I’m not talking just content, but important features , fixes, gameplay systems etc. One major pain point for me was disconnected stashes between towns. Heard that’s fixed. I also hated running and won’t play till mounts are available. New expansion does that. And so on.

Great video this gave me a great overview. I was really excited to try the expansion but for me I needed to see fundamental changes to pve and pvp endgame and I don't see that. I think unfortunately I'll have to wait until next expansion and see if they can bring more to the table for me. In terms of battlepass I'd love for them to make it not expire like said but I'd like to add it's also one of the easiest passes to progress out of any game I have seen. Can consistently get 5+ tiers and hour of play sometimes even 10 in an hour so it's not asking 100+ hours like some other games which I love about it.

What really bugs me about this update is that it feels less as an expansion and more as an overhaul and is therefor a bit too overpriced in my opinion. I think a 20$ would have been more than sufficiant, but 30 is too much as it's just first light being rereleased. Secondly, and this is something that really pisses me off, is that they put mounts as part of the expansion. Some part of me thinks they did this deliberately, as mounts have been such a highly requested feature since release. Putting something as such a huge, and one would say basic, feature as mounts which literally every single MMO has, behind a pay wall really ticks me off.

30bucks is not much, especially for a game that wasn't pay to play for 2years. And first light had no pop only people taking the fort there, so having a completely new zone not even close to first light is a good thing.

All I hear is people complain about xpac being 30$... Even tho most games have battlepasses or other MMO subs monthly and doesnt add anything really other than cosmetics ect and usually run 15$+. We get it, game lacked at start but they have listened somewhat and so far it has been enjoyable.. Really glad I gave it another chance personally since launch. It always had that allure but felt lacking.. Im just glad they have atleast tried, seems most just damage control/shift funds to other projects and let the game bleed out now days.

Haven’t touched the game since I hit lvl cap which frankly was almost a year and a half ago considering the end game was lackluster to say the least, however looking forward to picking up the expansion.. in the meantime I redownloaded the game and am working on lvl up a new character and having a blast, the same feeling I had at day one 2 years ago... looking forward to following the channel

Ive for sure thought this was a worth while expansion. A lot of people really try minimize the changes by saying "Oh they just reskinned First Light" while ignoring the redesign of Edens Grove, how in depth the mounts and riding systems are, and all of the other improvements and content that has come along. There is a lot to love here.

i Bought this game a while back on steam during a big discount(but somehow i havent played more then 30 hours due to updates everytime im in the mood to play it or atleast it s what it feels like !! Example last night i feelt like doing a few hours n getting to know the game a little again n then a huge update n now again today right in this moment another update on GB size again=so great w updates n stuff,But gets to me when i just cant play it again for the 4th time in a row this hapened for me when im about to game New World!! In december they will add cross server dungeon matchmaking, and all quest in low level dungeons are secondary and you can progress main story... Just level up slowly to level 60 and you will have a blast and you will find more ppl doing expeditions

As a Solo player it will not matter to me. I can get to my Level 35 Expediton and not have a party to play with. Devs don't matter much if you can't complete the Quest lines. Make every Hard Quest a Solo 3-4 part Quest so we can be a part of the Level 60 Crowd with Good Gear.

I like it quite a bit, it's fun, and works with my playstyle. I haven't focused on any builds with it just yet, like level 65 min/max builds... but I feel it's easy to use and I like the healing that goes along with it.

Non subscription is a big plus. However, you mentioned in the video of a 1 hour of playing to $1 benchmark for if the expansion is worth it. For me personally, that equation is more like, 1 hour of content i enjoy to $1. I know I will have to put in a bunch of hours to get my PVP builds in order. No problem. But the lack of matchmaking, new modes, or changes to the war scene, mean that the content I enjoy from this expansion will be 0 hours. So from that perspective, it is not worth it in it's current state.

I bought this game when it came out and I enjoyed it. The only reason I don’t play it is that none of the weapons actually resonated with me. I’m mostly a dual dagger/rogue character and the rapier didn’t hook me up. I will keep an eye on this game and will come back in the blink of an eye if they ever add dual daggers/katars/unarmed combat to it.

I have a non relevant question about the Voidbent armor. I can finally make this set after coming back from my hiatus and getting armor smithing to 200. I have made the Heavy helm and I am so proud of myself XD. My question is, should I craft the rest now or after the Xpansion? Will the armor even be viable? Is it even viable still for endgame stuff like those mutations and PvE stuff...maybe even PvP. I am not a PvP player but always like to think I might be one day.

For me, the game is in it's best state, we need now to push for an all weapons rework. Flail is so better in design than any other, the effect, AoE, impact and sound design. Ever since the beta, fire staff abilities looks like garbage and hitbox for almost all weapons makes no sense

I’m someone who really wanted this game to be great. I’m a huge fan of the gathering/refining/crafting in this game. It’s a great time sink for me. The expansion and everything they are changing/removing were some of the biggest barriers I felt were limiting my experience. The removal of expertise and bane/ward perks is for the me the best thing that could happen to this game. I just had no motivation to farm all those gear sets just for the opportunity of getting into a mid to high tier mutation. The fact that I can now be more flexible in how I want to play and the armour I want to use makes me so excited. To me it’s more than worth it

I love this game (spent 1000’s of hours in it) and they have some very talented and creative staff. Sadly though, I think the staff that are more in the public domain are complete muppets and have zero charisma and very dull. They are very painful to watch when they stream their news. Very cringe worthy!! They really need people in those positions to be a lot more exciting to listen to. I’d love for the expansion to contain more character slots (even 1 would be ok) so we can experience the story again (have 3x level 60s already, as I like to level up again with the season pass) and level up weapons properly instead of a static mob grind.

How do you communicate with the devs? Are gear sets free, fixed, or in some way obsolete in the expansion? Because im not paying 5e for a quality of life improvement that is deliberately designed that way. To max efficiency and lower frustration, pay up. I have no respect for these devs. If new world was as good/popular as Wow or FF, they would have subscription as well. As well as cosmetics. So I tried NW at launch. Felt it was very boring and non-stop running. The levelling experience was just painful. I tried again now after the "expansion". Really dont see that much has changed. The mount is really slow. The engine (movement/combat) still feels sluggish and unresponsive. I love that big companies are still trying to make MMOs, so I'll buy them to support it. But this one is a miss for me. Just doesnt feel like a good game.

ESO is a deceptively pricey mmo. The expansions dont include the dlc content, so you you need to sub for those as well. I make that comparison because they are both basically 1 zone xpacs. The difference being people enjoy the main and side stories of ESO. 2 big things i doht like about NW season pass, it has gear (skins would be better) and you cannot earn the currency to but the next seasonal pass

i dont like the combat in New World thaaaat much. just in terms of responsiveness and feel... to me, Black Desert has the best dynamic combat-system in a MMORPG that i have seen so far. animations are very polished, heavy weapons feel heavy, you get a uncomfortable feeling when you take damage... thats what combat needs to feel, otherwise there is just something missing to the feel of dread and danger. EDIT: i noticed that there are no real special animations for you OR the enemy if you OR they take a hit... thats definately one reason for why the combat feels soooo... half-assed, because taking damage doesnt throw you really out of your rhythm... i dont know, combat isnt just punishing enough for me in this game. sure, here and there its close to hard and some enemies make a great first impression but other than that i would describe the basic combat as "unimpressive"

No, not at all. I havent done a chest run in like 8 months. The only reason you do chest runs is to get the trophy materials. You can get 100x better gear doing 1 OPR than doing a chest run

In the expansion, the gear score will be proportionate to the difficulty of the content. No more grinding expertise and certainly no need for chest runs.

The person saying that the game is turning into a store, isn't entirely wrong though. Of course the devs need to earn money from the game in order to support it, but it feels like they are going down a road where more and more features are locked behind a paywall. It took them 1.5 years to add gear set storage, into a game that was designed around needing multiple gear sets in order to progress. What did they do with that system? Put it behind a paywall. It took them almost 2 years to add transmogging into the game, which is a huge feature in an mmo and something people can spend hundreds of hours doing. And again, put it behind a paywall. Now they are adding mounts, with the vast majority of them being where? That's right. Behind a paywall. Look, I don't have anything against an in-game cosmetic store, with emotes and utility boosters. I don't even have anything against 20 dollar premium battle passes and paid expansions. If the game is good and the content is worth it, of course I'll support the devs. But when games start to create problems and sell us the solution, like in gear set storage. Or when they add important features like transmogs and immediately monetize the sh*t out of it, that's when things are going in the wrong direction. Do you think old players or new players see these things and think to themselves "Damn these are good changes. I think the game might be worth checking out/playing again!"?

what're you talking about? they added gear sets and now that the annoying wards and banes are gone you don't really need them, in the first place they were optional and just extra. transmog isn't locked behind a paywall either, I've been getting tons of transmog tokens just playing the game, a game that does lock transmog behind a paywall though is Guild Wars 2. and yet again, mounts are not locked behind a paywall, that's the mount skins which judging from how the game is going, will clearly be available through season passes as time goes on or just from completing tasks in game. for almost everything in new world that you can buy there's a free way to obtain it besides some cosmetics which even now are becoming obtainable completely free through the season pass. personally I'm all for them monetizing what they can, you don't pay a sub for the game unlike other mmos, you pay once and play as much as you want, I'm guessing you think their income must come out of thin air?

There are good games with sub models, Mortal online 2 for example. But in general you are right, mmo public is aging .. and you just as I dont have as much time as we have to, a sub can feel like a waste of money due to lack of time. Why? You're just purchasing a Battlepass, you've done nothing to earn a "rare" cosmetic. Not to mention certain seasons are a SIGNIFICANTLY better value then others. (Season 1 for example)

It's hard to say if it's worth it. While they are adding things like mounts and artifacts, I just feel like the core issue still exists. An issue that has been there since launch. I'm talking about a true endgame and more social features that actually makes it worth investing time into. This might be an unpopular opinion, but I honestly think Artifacts are pretty boring overall. While probably being game changing, the unique perk they all have are mostly just buffed up percentage perks. Like the Artifact fire staff that deals 20% more dmg to enemies within 5m. Or the flail that deals 20% more damage to stunned enemies. When I first heard about Artifacts, I thought they would come with a new ability or an interesting passive effect that changes your abilities. And then we have the whole mount issue. I don't really feel like spending money on an expansion where the vast majority of a certain feature is locked behind a paywall. If you look at mounts on the PTR, most of them are aquired through the store. 6 out of 9 horses, 6 out of 9 direwolfs and 7 out of 10 lions are locked behind mtx. This, combined with the fact that both gear set storage and transmog tokens were also locked behind mtx, makes me really concerned about the future of this game.

I put 1600 hours into it when it launched, I was going to return to play this expansion, but the battle pass is a no go for me. I won't be playing due to that nonsense. I do not support nonsense like that.

I don't care that the game has a store. What I do care about is: NO MINI-MAP. For the love of everything add a damn mini-map. Healing - Fix healing so that I can target a person I actually want to heal like, oh I don't know...MY SELF.. Grr

You can target heal, just fyi. They added that in a while ago. I think there is also a plug-in for a mini map but I don’t use it.

I am sick of this wining about every new game or expansion, for being expensive and so on... So, most if not all of you gladly spends 30 USD per day for burgers and cola, which only unlock lifetime achievement of diabetes, BUT find a bunch of reasons to cry about some 30 USD for expansion or game for 80 USD ... Great video and very well put. I am excited to play it. New World values your time more than most other MMOs. It's one of the main reasons I recommend it to new comers of New world or first timers of MMOs. Keep up the good work man!

Its a buy once and play game with a store for what i see to be mostly cosmetics, thats perfectly fair and reasonable. Specially this game is awesome so far lol well worth the money i spent, what else is going to give you this much entertainment for a prolonged period of time for $30... Games like Wow you buy, then pay every month just to play even tho you already bought it.. and on top it has a store also so their double dipping your income. On top of that a lot of the gold sellers are literally Owned by blizz so they are triple dipping lol, even worst they sell you the gold n ban your account for third party usage to acquire the gold they themselves sometimes sold you. That way you gotta buy it again.. Ridiculous

not worth it for players like me that will be bored within 3 days. This happens every time I come back to New World - bored within 2 to 3 days. I played 7 hours on PTR and was bored to death. For me 100% not worth $30. If it was free I'd be bored within 3 days just the same.

For current players of New World, the $30 price ticket for entry into the new expansion shouldn't really the basis for determining whether it's "worth it". $30 is NOTHING for most current players. The real value one should consider as the basis for determining whether the new expansion is "worth it" is the continued investment of their time in THIS game as opposed to some other game.
