Hey man great layout. Just wanted to say you inspired me to play spear/rapier about a half a year ago and it's cool to see where our setups are similar. The funny thing is my setup is such a pain in the ass to use vs ranged players(im using bleed sweep over vault kick) and then you come out in yours and say it's perfect vs them so I am giving it a shot. Great video and thanks for the tips.

Personally, I would put a weapon perk as 3rd perk with lifering spear. Skewer, perforate, or leeching cyclone are all decent options depending on what your playstyle is. Yes, it is worth it to upgrade if you don't want to craft your own

As a spear primary, I’ve ran this build and switched to spear/GS. here are my conclusions regarding Rapier vs GS as a secondary weapon: - Calamity counter>Repose: Pretty same tool, while repose is easier to avoid IMO, and activating calamity restores 50 stamina upon use (perk on wep) - Steadstrike has so much to offer - It stagger, heal, bleed, reduce cooldowns, restore a lot of stamina, and has pretty decent damage (especially after activating onslaught stance with Relentless). Also, the leaping range isn’t bad (same as Flourish and finish). - Relentless rush is weaker than Fleche in terms of mobility, but has higher dmg potential, allows to escape root and slow, and applying slow on multiple targets easily. - As for the passive perks, GS has so much better to offer than rapier as a secondary, as it provides many fortify buffs(defiance stance included), and incoming heals (works great with Ankh) - Attributes: IMO 100STR is mandatory for primary spear. Unlike rapier, it works well with GS as it scales with both STR and DEX. In terms of mobility, I’d use the rapier, mainly because of Fleche. better against ranged enemies. In terms of overall defense, stamina management, heals, and clumps fight, I’d go with the GS (take into consideration that using Serenity isn’t good for this case, therefore it allows to use any perks we want for defensive and mobility purposes). P.S I’m not a big fan of Evade :)

Solid take - Rapier provides a lot more survivability with evade, fleche, riposte. I've tried calamity and when fighting 4 people it doesn't do much as expected.

how are you adjusting post SH nerf? also what are your main use cases for evade i cant seem to get a good grip on it, but loving the build

I'll be running my same gear shown in the video :) For survivability, evade backwards when in trouble, you travel farther vs other directions. Otherwise in general I use evade as a free dodge to avoid cc

Have you done extensive testing with heavy armor? If the dodge distance and cost is equal now, I find it harder to justify running medium.

Personal preference - you can run this build in heavy. I personally like tumbler artifact with medium equip load. Heavy seems to be more meta atm

If you're broke, use the pvp gear from the pvp track. It has health, shirk heals, and some form of refreshing. Sweep is perfectly fine and very useful in killing healers. You can farm the spear artifact as well or the "lifering spear"

What bleed perk exactly, blood letting on ring? or are you talking about the Finisher rapier % dmg increase off of bleeds. Spear bleeds do work on the finisher for % dmg increase

Do you find that you can kill range with cyclone or is it better to run the vault kick?

@digytl I can most likely kill any ranged player with cyclone when there is literally any kind of LOS object (tree, tent, pillar etc) It becomes a lot harder to kill a good ranged player with cyclone when you are in an open area, vault kick makes it easier. Keep in mind that any exceptionally solid ranged pvp player should be able to beat this spear / rapier build when there is ZERO line of sight objects even when running Vault kick. A ranged player can simply kite in light armor infinitely if they know what they're doing. If you know you're fighting a high skill ranged player, play around LOS and don't get baited into an open area.

Struggling against range, didn’t venture into the vault kick version as losing burst of cyclone feels bad. Is stopwatch mandatory for it? I didn’t grab it yet.

So lost stopwatch got a big stun duration nerf and damage loss nerf, I don't ever use that artifact now. I just use vault with ankh atm

Thoughts on Freedom? Medium loadout is enough or just play better and not get stunned? :) Edit: Just heard the comment on 300 dex as workaround, is the cooldown on that problematic at times?

Freedom isn't bad, but if you have the 300 dex perk, try and make that work. If you don't run 300 dex then running 3+ freedom has a lot more value. Yes it is problematic sometimes but I'd rather have my shirk fort, shirk heal, health perks.

I haven't tried blood drinker, but the reason I dont like blood drinker is cause it loses a ton of value against a ranged player kiting. Its reasonable to go blood drinker if you're front lining often though

Would you say you technically could play Sweep and Cyclone in one Build? Or does that not make sense? I feel like the Cyclone Heal is super nice and Sweep is a great CC with juicy Dmg. But i have never seen anybody run these 2 together. Kinda.

You know I was think I'd still use 3 peices of freedom on my build since when I play spear hatchet I go 200 200 200 without the escape. Hey man, thanks a lot for your video. Why dont you use the Featherweight chest armor which enables you to run light with 2 heavy armor pieces? This will increase your overall armor.
