of course, know a couple good players that run hatchet/gs, u just lose out on javelin. makes it much easier to catch people in medium and the 40% rend is one of the biggest reasons I can hit ppl as hard as I do with blooddrinker on. but when I run gs I play crosscut/steadfast/relentless rush. if you steadfast into rush they both heal you if u need a quick burst heal, or rush by itself for a chasedown since it slows them. crosscut just good burst damage and can dodge cancel out after 2nd swipe now if u see a stun coming. my one armor perk spot would switch to relentless freedom, hatchet unchanged

Great video. When NW was released I played hatchet and spear. They nerfed hatchet so much I stopped playing hatchet. Few times I have tried to run hatchet in OPR I been killed to quick to make it fun... guessing I need blooddrinker to make this work.... thanks for sharing

sorry kinda late brother been super sick. blooddrinker definitely isn't mandatory for the build but it definitely helps a lot if you want to be in the clump or 1vX

i play this build as well, its good fun.. one of the things i do differntly tho is, the skill tree.. like u said, this build likes alotta crits, and u use keen on ring and crit retr. etc(instead of say extra damage etc) but u dont use the spear stam on crits point. as we are too tight with these 3 spear skillz to take more points on left side.. i drop the coup de grace,(instead la-cycl) and take the invig crits. simular on hatchet.. (u also metioned bleed builds being a pain) i drop the last point on raging torr., and put it on frenzied purge. which removes all bleeds/burns/poison, when u hit an enemy, while ur health is below 30%. ..which is usually the case when u doing these types of trades. and synergies really well with this whole build consept.. (attacking as defense/lifesteal etc) but other than that, i play basically the same ;). alotta folks dont, most folks looking to get high kills and be a assasin, dont wanna have any damage penalties, but wanna max their damage as much as possible. and even go low con to have more damage. but imo, since S3, thats not usually the optimal approach.. and a build like this can usually have more value and be more fun, with more sustain, also when solo. i wish the war comps wouldnt be so stuck in their ways.. im not allowed to play a build like this, or use blooddrinker in wars ;(

I get what you're saying about the slight perk differences, when I'm not playing scorpion sting I take all the stamina related passives and no coup de grace for my normal perforate spear build. and I wouldn't worry too much about war comps brother, I guess it sucks if that's what you like to play but I personally just can't be asked haha they think you're going to treat it like a job.. ain't no way lol rather just play solo

oh yeah! thats what bothers me the most about war comps.. they make u treat it "like a job".. its at a rediculous lv atm.. with having to enter in constant vods to apply for and keep positions in a roster, to having to always be there to do the comps biddings, deciding when and what content u will play, with times and meetings and other jobs eating most of playtime. starnge forms of competition, with folks thinking they better and deserve ur spot.. i cud go on and on. and then comps disband, and a whole new strinfg of politics beginns.. no fun anbymore. i think im done with war comps. hope we get casual wars, and in general more pvp going on and pvp content. cuz the NW pvp action combat is the funnest.. and rocking it with groups of other decent playas, riding intoblitz attacks n raids.. too much fun eh@@PJsurely

it's the way to go man honestly. every time a company invited me I told them up front don't bother me if I'm not online and don't expect me to do random bot ecr's n stuff because u brought in people that can't figure out pve lol I'm now the governor of "surely solo" so people can't even invite anymore hah but I think NW is definitely headed in the right direction with getting us some more pvp stuff to do, it took a while to get here but it makes sense they wanted to get the game right first before building more on top of it

ay thank you brother glad you enjoyed. if you're just looking for self-sustain you can still get a ton of healing with magnetic gauntlets and void blade, it just feels pretty bad right now swinging thru people but hopefully that's getting fixed next season in the update they described today. same concept with great axe just not quite as much healing. if you want to stick with hatchet build though definitely check out TobyNW on twitch, guy is a menace plays a similar build but he runs shirking heals with ankh and mending stoneform for his sustain. different playstyle but still very good

Been watching your videos and I’m considering trying this build but never really played hatchet. Is there a reason why this secondary weapon is necessary? I'm on maramma, haven't played arenas since they nerfed the rewards since people stopped q'ing for it. have some old vids of arenas with some oddball off meta builds but none with this, guess I could try it again with this hah I kind of use the hatchet as the primary weapon for the build, it's very good damage and berserk + social distance are great utility. most of my builds are one melee and one ranged weapon, but with scorpion's sting people can't as easily get away from me so I don't mind playing double melee with this and it has a strong combo.

depends what weapons you're playing and what you want to prioritize in your build. if you're running an elemental weapon then yeah absolutely run runeglass in armor. for this build you have to decide if the 5% extra melee damage that has an internal cooldown it doesn't mention is worth losing a bit of mitigation. I feel like I can get enough damage in without them so I'd rather have the mitigation for melee builds

if that was all it came down to, it'd be boring as hell because there'd be no skill gap between anybody with good gear, but you very regularly see the same names at the top of the leaderboard. some weapons barely light/heavy at all and are almost exclusively used for their abilities. gear isn't actually very important aside from artifacts which are free for anyone to get, all other gear is auto leveled up in pvp modes to even the playing field and in the open world there is gear and level scaling for pvp specifically. hope that makes sense brother 🤝
