New World Ultimate Beginner’s Guide

In this New World beginner’s guide, we give tips for fast leveling, making the most of gear in and out of combat, as well as how to make the most of trade skills.
New World is an MMORPG from Amazon Games set on the mythical island of Aeternum. For thousands of years explorers have ventured to the island in search of its mysterious resource known as Azoth. This substance grants power and eternal life but often at a cost and has led to the corruption of the island as well as the island’s former masters to nearly go extinct.
In this video, DeVante talks about all the important things a beginner should know about New World before they start playing. He breaks down ways to maximize XP gain in order to level up faster as well as how to cut down on travel time in games. Later in the video, DeVante details New World’s combat, weapons, damage types and armor sets as well as discussing tips for trade skills like gathering and crafting.
New World released for PC on September 28, 2021 and is now available via Amazon or Steam.

This was a very good and pretty thorough beginner video. One quick tip most people aren't aware of regarding gear equipped weight class thing. Do NOT wear a shield if you're not using sword and shield because it counts as your equipped weight potentially putting you into a higher weight bracket for no actual use. Cheers!

I've been playing this game for 3 weeks and love it so far, what I don't like is how the main story forced me to do an expedition. It took me almost a whole week of just doing side quest, faction bounties and town projects so I can level up higher than 25 so I can complete the 1st expedition. I just wish the main story was a solo player activity and not force players, specially solo players like me to do an expedition. Another tip is, when you arrive at your first settlement, I would recommend getting your mining, skinning, logging and harvesting to level 100 before going to other settlements. There were times where I saw starmetal and blue trees and I couldn't get them cause my level was too low

Intimidating? No, not all. The game does a fantastic job of getting you into the game, showing you how to navigate the world and it's missions, how factions work, how crafting works, and the basic mechanics of them game. I, an obsessive MMORPGer just needed to make sure I'm optimizing my time from the get go, So, thanks for the video!

not a quest guy, can u lvl up killing monsters instead? does this game has boss hunting, grand exchange like runescape, and rare drops are tradable or soulbound like in WOW?

Slowly but I guess it would be possible. The quests are really simple. Go here kill x amount of enemies or kill this boss, skin this animal, craft this, gather this resource etc. That said they are definitely the fast way to level. Killing mobs will take a very long time when you could be grabbing quests that involve killing said mobs anyway

Tbh this game isn’t really that deep, but damn I’m addicted. Idk if it’s because it’s the first mmo I’ve been able to start playing on launch (I was years late to wow) but dang I love it. I worry about long term though as it seems pretty much pvp oriented and I’m more of a pve player. I hope more dungeons and raids are added in the future.

So, I see that I can repair a weapon or piece of clothing but how do I know if the item is damaged and needs repair? If I hover over my iron sword it may say “repair or option to repair” but I don’t see a dialogue box or anything showing how damaged it is.

There is a solid white bar below the gear icon that will show current durability. The gear icon will also start to flash red when the gear is low on durability.

I agree the xp territory buff is a trap! Ok you lvl faster but once you are max lvl this buff is wasted. I rather opt for storage or gathering speed, since both are still very valuable at max lvl.

The reviews are mostly complaints about queue times more than anything. I'm only a couple hours into the game so I can't answer your other question but this one does seem a little grindy, in that you'll be spending a lot of time working on crafting skills. But that was one of my favorite parts of WoW so I don't mind.
