It definitely looks like the team is meshing better now that after a decade, we have a seasoned coach behind the bench

You're Ignoring how good we looked last year any time Larkin wasnt hurt or recovering. Lalonde may have lost the team this year, but you can't take away we were rolling for a lot of last year and even times in his first year
@JusAn.P18 күн бұрын
@@b1ackm4gic we had multiple losing skids last year that cost us the playoffs. Good teams are supposed to still play good when their star players are injured. I'm not sure what I am ignoring here. I am baffled that you cooked up this whole narrative just from me saying that it seems like a better situation that we have a highly experienced coach now.

One thing I've loved about this podcast since the early days in Brad's basement is how little it's changed and what has changed was improvement on things that were already good. It's been consistent, quality content that's become more polished over time and is now one of the best podcasts in my lineup, drunk Ryan edits aside. Keep up the good work, guys and happy New Year! I was one of the very few who was actually kind of upset about Zadina over Hughes. I didn't think either would be bad, but I was SUCH a homer for the U-Mich kid.
@jeremyapache18 күн бұрын
I remember being annoyed that it seemed like the Wings wanted nothing to do with Hughes. Ken Holland and co. sure felt preoccupied with size at this time
@Spear99518 күн бұрын
@jeremyapache man I was too. I really wonder what was going on in their scouting department at the time that they wiffed so damned hard on him. It'd be one thing if he was on their board somewhere and Zadina just mucked all that up, but to flat out tell him no they're not drafting him? What the hell Kenny?

Great video again, unfortunately I don't think we will be bad enough to finally get a crazy good draft pick and if we are good enough to make playoffs I don't think we will be good enough to win much unless some roster moves are made to improve things now. I would of rather been bad this year and got a great pick and start expect more success once Danielson/ASP/Cossa/Augustine etc come in over the next 1-2 years.
@IceNinja200719 күн бұрын
ASP and Augustine could dominate GR next year, only if Augustine leaves MSU...

Being really bad didn’t get us much luck, and making the playoffs for this year means something even if this team isn’t a cup contender. Any positive experience the team can get will serve them well in the future. You don’t punt a season for a draft pick when a toxic culture can soil the young core. I’m excited to watch some good hockey and have the youth develop as opposed to throwing a season for a chance at a good player.

56:10 Nope! No revisionist history needed. I was not a fan of the pick at the time. My choices were Bouchard, Dobson, or Hughes in that order. When they picked Zadina, I looked over his video again and was not happy. Raw numbers - we exist. Statistically speaking, you may be correct.

Lalonde should have been gone towards the end last year. I’m so pleased with how the team is playing under Todd, but he’s obviously got his work cut out. I think the team struggles with conditioning issues. They seem to get gassed really quickly, which is partly Lalonde’s fault. One step at a time though. I never got too excited about prospects over the years, but ASP is the only current player in our prospect pool that I’m confident will be an elite player. The young man reminds me of Makar light.

Why would a wildcard team fire a head coach if they were having success under him?
@casewojo618619 күн бұрын
@ because they had multiple losing streaks, and blown leads down the stretch and blew games against San Jose. Why would you like your own comment?
@Septembersmith963319 күн бұрын
I've got news for ya it's the NHL and even last place teams beat top of the league on occasion and all teams have bad loosing streaks. Everyone was saying buffalo was a probable playoff wild card contender and have gone on a 14 game losing streak. Your complaint is paper thin because it literally happens to multiple 'good teams' every year. Btw that other like isn't mine you presumptuous dummy. You'll probably be yapping in the dark in April about how we should've been a wildcard team if it wasn't for LaLonde even though he got us 13 wins you still won't give him credit and say something stupid like fire Yzerman or blame LaLonde even though he won't be around cuz you don't do your research or have realistic expectations thinking Detroit I'm the wildcard getting swept is somehow a good thing.
@casewojo618619 күн бұрын
@ nice run on paragraph knuckle dragger. there’s no “news” you could give me about hockey lol….. the Wings had too many games where they looked unmotivated last season, and they also had too many games they dropped against bottom feeders. Guess what slob, it’s the coaches job to motivate a team, You’re just one of those obnoxious slobs that looks for a reason to argue, and I don’t value your opinion, so why share it? You can have your own wrong opinion, and I’ll have my correct one. Happy new year skippy lol.
