I would have kept Walman and not signed Gustafsson, not signed Tarasenko. Berggren should be in Tarasenko's spot, Johansson should be playing over Gustafsson but Lalonde favours older players and is retarded. Could have traded for Broberg, Holloway, Vasily Podkolzin. Could have traded for Timothy Liljigren mid season, Kappo Kakko, claimed Oliver Wahlstrom. These are all former 1st round picks under 25 who have high potential, could of been had for a 2nd round pick or less, most of them less than a 2nd.

True but I'm a huge Danielson fan, he's the one I wanted when I knew where they were picking. He has had some highlight reel plays in GR and is looking great. I wouldn't have been surprised if they took ASP 9th either getting him at 17 was an absolute steal. He looks like Makar on the blueline deking guys out of their pants. Just a phenomenal skater with great dekes and a wicked shot. I do wish they tanked a little more in the past, for me it's the Kasper draft. Forget about the past though, this year's draft is the one to look forward to when they get a high skill forward or the left hand defenseman Schaefer. Hagens, Martone, Misa, Schaefer, McQueen top 5 is a really good options. At worse though they pick 6th and take Ryabkin who definitely fits their drafting style. 7th they get Frondell and I would happy. If they end up picking 8th and miss out on all of these players I will be disappointed but they will still probably end up with someone good.

The problem with tank is that RW is the worst team in the league to do it. It is also noticeable that the conflict of the business side versus the sports side has taken a big hit this year. The number of visitors per game has steadily declined and those numbers do not include all those like me who follow teams live via the internet. But the decline has been there for several years and is not at all due to bad luck in the draft draw, which is mostly a poor excuse by the staff in the organization. Where Lalonde this year sounds like a repetitive record completely without the presence of reality in his own analyses today. S.Y believed that the team needed Vet's for their leadership and create a winning culture for all the young people to take part in. 6 years of his leadership and the team culture is that the players do not believe in the staff's version at all anymore, it is clearly visible in all the press media for everyone to take part off. How bad the product is on the ice today is that no one can sit safely. So tank, should have been done years ago and should have been done better by the organization's staff. The only thing that can save S.Y today is if he blows up the team and only keeps MO/Raz out and everyone else including Cat & Larks to be available. The problem is that no other team is interested in players from RW as they are former or average at best. 6 years of drafting where the strategy has always been to take the best available player and had never expand with a new version. Merry Christmas

We were supposed to be having the prospect conversation in 2019, and we did, when it was a fresh start it makes sense. here we are… 6 years later, and bottom of the division. who is going to take accountability for this? They actually didn’t play bad defense against Montreal. It was bad goaltending. Averaging out Moneypuck, Natural Stat Trick, and Evolving Hockey expected goal models for both games show good defensive games and bad goaltending. They allowed Cam Talbot to face 2.93 expected goals and he gave up 4 goals for a goals saved above expected of -1.07. Alex Lyon faced 2.37 expected goals and gave up 5 goals. His goals saved above expected was -2.63. In total 5.3 expected goals against and 9 goals given up for a -3.7 goals saved above expected. So, goaltending cost them a 3-3 overtime point with the possibility of a win in the first game and 2-2 overtime point with the possibility of a win in the second game.
@dack4002 күн бұрын
I don’t care what the analytics say- they gave up a shit ton of high danger chances and defensemen were getting walked, especially in the second game. And I think 3 of the goals were deflections if memory serves. Seemed like the high danger chances were saved but then a couple softies.

even despite everything Lalonde has done to him, Kane appeared fully willing and able to rescue him and his awful team if he had just been allowed to keep Cat and Copp full time and get some usage w Seider's d pair. and Lalonde couldn't do it. that deal was not good enough for him. it was still not giving Raymond EVERYTHING. it was still making the wrong guy the star. so he couldn't allow it. after the 1st period of the 1st MTL game, he stopped letting them play w Seider/Chiarot despite dominant analytics together in the 1st period of that game and 1-0 on the scoreboard. it cost them that game. then last game, team up 1-0 and rolling, he out of nowhere decides to swap DeBrincat and Rasmussen for a shift each in the middle of the period. Cat Ray Larkin, Ras Kane Copp. the team immediately collapsed. it was like he'd punched the entire team in the gut. for no reason. and then in response to this collapse - which btw included Lyon simply being horrific in net - he broke up the Copp Kane Cat line altogether for the rest of the game. he broke up ALL the lines, all the pairings of the forwards - except of course for Larkin and Ray. they NEVER get split up. you will rarely find a more self-sabotaging career ruining couple of games by any coach in NHL history. as i say - Pat appeared fully willing to straight up save this guy's job the rest of this year and make this a good team. Lalonde refused it. he's a bum. he has to go.

Can't trade Kane dawg. He has a full No Trade clause, and pulling the New York waive is not an option for this team, since they're not a winning market right now, and the fact that Kane has value. Based on the interview he did, he wants to stay in Detroit because his family really likes it. His and DeBrincat's sons are friends in example. The season is absolutely cooked though for sure.

The thing that drives me genuinely mad is the constant refrain of "We overperformed last year." Throwing up your hands and demanding everyone accept a step back is absurd. I don't care. The team was a tiebreaker away from the playoffs. Yzerman is the GM, it's his bloody job to head off the problem and try and prevent the regression you're expecting. You can't do this to the fans and tell your players you don't have expectations of them. You can't do that at all.

I agree somewhat, I can understand the personnel decisions. Keeping Lalonde is the big issue for me, by keeping him it sends a bad message.
