Tip from a dentist - mouthwash is great, but don't bother after you have brushed your teeth (don't rinse your mouth after brushing make sure the toothpaste is still on your teeth as it will provide protection). Use mouthwash as a refresher or top up maybe after you have eaten or throughout the day.

me and my friends also don't like the whole resolutions thing, last year we started something called "quests" instead, a bit like in a video game, and we set ourselves main quests and side quests and give ourselves XP for each thing we get done, or different types of points depending on the type of thing, like creativity, knowledge, culture points etc. - it really takes the pressure of the "resolutions" thing away, because we don't add things that are unattainable, and it's a nice little treat to be able to give ourselves the XP or points. I'm sure that this wouldn't work for everyone, but I love it.

Isn't it common to leave up the Christmas tree until Epiphany (6th January?). The arrival of the Three Magi on Epiphany concludes the Twelve Days of Christmas and afterwards you take the Christmas tree down. Or at least that's what I learned. Happy New Year btw! :)

Late comment, I know, but Christmas trees can also stay up until the 'old' twelfth night (c.17th Jan) or even until Candlemas at the beginning of Feb (often churches leave Christmas decorations up until then). I must admit that I feel bad about throwing out a perfectly healthy tree before its time ....

For the bookcase may I suggest also starting to fill up with books for your niece and possibly your own kids one day? Maybe books to read to/ with your niece as she grows like hungry caterpillar, Peter rabbit, classic winnie the pooh, the velveteen rabbit etc. That would be a good way to fill the shelves and the books would have a purpose

Buying books to fill space is SO alien to me!😆 I just love reading and buy physical used books to read them. I never know where to store them. I have around 4k books by now and they are stacked everywhere. So hearing you talk about buying books especially to fill up a bookcase is so far from reality to me😆

Now that I live in America, I put the tree up on Black Friday since my husband works and I don’t. It’s really fun for him to come home to a totally Christmas’d house. We always take it down around New Year, either eve or day of, and do a massive house clean on NYD to get the new year rolling in a tidy house.
@Alaskaventureswithbrodie2 жыл бұрын
I have the perfect Christmas tree removal. You wrap a sheet around the whole thing and then drag it out. Then it just has one little stream of needles instead of everything it touches.
@RockPunkBallerina2 жыл бұрын
Because I put up the decorations only around Christmas Eve, the earliest I take them down is the 6th of January. If one feels that’s not enough, they can even be left throughout January. I find it so much better to put the tree up as late as possible because it then feels (and is) fresh for the holidays.
@MadeleineOlivia2 жыл бұрын
Yeah I think this is really common! We had our tree from late November (to shoot content) so it was on its last legs
@wellhello16032 жыл бұрын
Interesting, that explains why others have the tree up for longer! Always wondered. I’m the opposite, so exited to have it in the end of November, because it’s so hard to come to terms with darkness after the summer, feels nice to have festive decor up as soon as it’s acceptable to brighten the mood. But I’m so sick of it by the new years, it comes down almost as soon as clock turns 00.00 😄 new year, new season kinda

My New Years thoughts are to carry on being kind to others but also to try to help as many people as I can this year! I think that’s my purpose! At the same time I intend to be kinder to myself too! I have a long term health condition that makes me tired but I don’t rest enough until a friend,mwho has blood cancer, reminded me to accept the new you and be kinder to yourself that way you’ll be able to carry on helping others! Today (5th) I took my two lovely babies (Jack Russell's) to the beauty parlour this morning and when we came back I took down the tree and packed away all of the decorations. I then cooked my first Hello Fresh! It was great! Xx Tomorrow my husband will cook his first Hello Fresh, what could go wrong! 🤣🤣

Happy new year! It’s so nice to see people were able to enjoy their holidays, especially when people share the joy online! I usually don’t celebrate anyways and stay home alone with my cat, cleaning up all day and then have a nice dinner, but this year I became sick right on the 31.12, so not even that this time. Although I’m glad I didn’t have any plans, it wasn’t disappointing that way 😄 And this years resolution is to let myself come to terms with where I am in life and not ask anything from myself, but live one day at the time and give myself a chance to get my mental state in good shape, only then start building my life back. I’ve spent around 4 years in continuous burnout and lifelong depression on top, but because I was in my early twenties I felt I need to keep pushing, hoping it will get better if I don’t let go of the goals I set for myself. Last year I got ADHD diagnosis that started unraveling my mental health situation and in June my doctor put me on a sick leave due to my bad mental health + to start trying new medication, although she suggested sick leave for 3 years now because of my state. It was only supposed to be 2 months, but later doctor suggested to stay home longer, each month I hoped “next month I’m gonna be able to go back to normal life!”, which never happened, it’s my 7th month on medical leave with no end in sight. I felt like a huge failure for all this time, but only in December started to allow myself to take the time I truly need. Because more time I’ll spend fighting myself and trying to pretend everything is okay for everyone else, I feel longer I will suffer and won’t get better. Trying to make myself believe that since I’m already here, better use the help I’m given and not rush, it didn’t work. Which is really hard, because of guilt that I’m on some sort of vacation doing nothing of value, a vacation that I don’t deserve. I’m not ofc, I didn’t choose to be here in that situation, so learning to love myself and not put myself down anymore just because I don’t have the life I imagined for myself.

Happy New Year! This year I'm gonna continue what I started last year, which is to try out something every month. It's mostly habit oriented, e.g. try to floss your teeth every evening for a month, try to practice a relaxing method every day for a month, have active quality time with someone else x times a week etc.. But I'll also let things like doing a course to try out a new hobby or a new sport count. It's okay to say it didn't serve you and therefore you're not gonna continue doing said thing after that month has passed, but during the month you should really try to stick to it, even if it doesn't seem to do much for you in the meantime. This approach has really helped me to improve my lifestyle to suit me better while not putting too much pressure on myself at the same time!

Happy new year! Here in Portugal we use to let our Christmas tree up until epiphany -> wise man day. It is very strange to us to do it earlier and it is definitely very strange that uk doesn't do that either because you are so fond of the “12 days of christmas” which are indeed the 12 days from Christmas day to epiphany! 😅 but hei ho! Happy New Year! Really enjoyed your Vlogmas content this year, especially your trip to the lake district. It looked truly wonderful! I usually put my tree and Christmas decorations up on December 1st, to help me get into a festive mood early. I leave most of it up through the 12 days of Christmas, then take it all down first thing on Jan 7th, which is my husband's birthday. I like him to feel like it's his own special day, not just a tag on to the holidays. Come the 8th, it's all hands to cleaning, decluttering and organising until I run out of steam. My main problem with the decluttering is what to do with everything I don't want/need any more. It usually just ends up in a tote that gets shoved into the garage, waiting to be taken... somewhere.
