New Years Drive and Walk with Dogs - Farms, Mountains & Dams

In the suburbs outside of Johnson City, Tennessee is a place so beautiful that you'd think you were in the Smoky Mountain National Park!
The Watauga Dam recreational area is located in Elizabethton, Tennessee on the shoreline of Watauga Lake. The recreational area has many amenities and ample parking for fishing, hiking, boating, or just sitting down and taking in the beautiful lake and mountain views!
My dogs LOVE this place. In fact, it may be their favorite place on Earth. For that reason, we decided to head here on New Years Eve for a bit of easy outdoor recreation. We walked up to the overlook (the roadway is closed December - March) and had it all to ourselves.
The first half of the video is the drive to the recreation area. You drive through beautiful Tennessee farm land with amazing mountain views and up in to the recreation area, which in my mind, is just as beautiful as the National Park two hours west of here!
