on the hazing topic: I learned about this in psych!! and one reason it is done is the human instinct to justify our own intelligence and actions. Specifically, we like to believe we make the right choices-if we pay 20 dollars for a concert and it’s bad, we think it’s bad! But if we we pay 200, we might be more inclined to lie to ourselves and convince ourselves it was actually good. Studies show people who are hazed like their frats more, and it can be attributed to the same mentality: if I suffered all this, it MUST be worth it. Very interesting and one of the reasons it generates such allegiance and cohesion!
