Why do you act like maintaining roads for cars is cheap? If you look into the true cost of road infrastructure, you'd find that city-dwellers subsidize the cost of roads for the benefit of suburbanites. If you're so against illegal immigrants, you should be able to understand the frustration that Manhattanites feel when outsiders bring cars into downtown and don't pay their fair share.

@@blackbacon08 True... City dwellers do pay higher taxes on the property that is 3.5m vs the the people who live on 500k suburban homes. I am not talking about penalizing the people who lives in Manhattan. Many years ago, I purchased the property on east village and live there few months out of the year. I am against criminal illegal immigrants. I have cars and trucks in other states but do not keep the car in Manhattan. I am for enforcing the entry fee to Manhattan to create the revenue and ease the congestion and it will reduce the noise and improve the air quality.

Nobody drives through Manhattan because they WANT to. They do it because they HAVE to. This has always just been an extra tax on ppl who live on the other side of the East River, who have no other option but to cross Manhattan if they want to leave NYC. I may be wrong, but every route off the physical body of Long Island (which includes Brooklyn and Queens) now has to pay a toll to travel outside of those 4 counties. It won't divert cars away from Manhattan, it will just charge everyone who lives there more money to leave.

So they are forcing drivers to use the already congested transportation system? Imagine if our grandparents in the 1930s would had the same solutions? There would be no George Washington Bridge, no Lincoln Tunnel, no Holland Tunnel, no Westside Highway, no Brooklyn Bridge, etc. Am glad politicians back then didn't had the same mindset as today when the population was booming. Nowadays, the population keeps booming and they stop creating bridges, tunnels and roads. How about if they connect NJ-495 Lincoln Tunnel with Long Island Expressway with a tunnel or bridge, like they did with the GWB? Or I-78 Holland Tunnel with Brooklyn? No wonder Midtown and Lower Manhattan is so congested, because car traveling from NJ to Queens or to Brooklyn have to pass thru the already congested roads of Manhattan.
