As an infantryman of many firefights in the Vietnam War, knowing that the shock of battle destroys sexual desire and even the want to eat, I wrote the NY Times expressing that I saw lies in their rape article “Screams Without Words…” by Jeffrey Gettleman, Anat Schwartz, and Adam Sella. What civilians don’t know is that rapes do occur in war, but never in the heat of battle, especially of such high intensity. For instance, in WWII, thousands of German women were raped in the Russian capture of Berlin but not by the attacking troops; the following troop waves after the battle were the offenders. In a battle with that many casualties, I am certain that no Hamas fighter pulled his pants down to use the bathroom. That close to death, the only woman a combatant would think about would be his mother!

The fact that they hung Streicher at Nuremberg, did not change much in all three German-speaking countries (Germany, Austria, Switzerland). Today Switzerland's right-wing party SVP (= Swiss People's Party) uses Julius Streicher's "Der Stürmer" and its anti-semitic caricatures as templates for their national or cantonal election posters. (The ad company that is responsible for that is run by a German with close connections to the German far-right and who is married to a Swiss Federal Judge. Both, wife and husband, are members of the far-right SVP.) The only thing that is different, is the fact, that the Jews are replaced by either by leftist "scroungers" and "spongers" or Arab Muslims who allegedly rape Swiss women or since Oct 7th by Hamas and the whole population of Gaza.
