I'm sure they were trying to get the white car out of the road. You have to think about the fact that the cars could be totalled enough til it can't be moved. So what choice would you have?

The white car is very obviously immobilized by the damage. I agree that the truck could have moved immediately on the assumption that there wasn't a serious injury or death in the incident. The default law in the US is don't move the vehicles until and unless ordered to do so by law enforcement, unless doing so is imminently necessary to preserve life or safety. Some states have passed override laws stating that accidents not involving injury should pull to the side or proceed to an accident investigation area if possible, but if any vehicle is immobilized or anyone is injured it's best simply to leave everything where it lies unless some other result is required to keep someone alive. The fact that one of the drivers apparently required medical attention means this was at least apparently an accident involving injury, which means moving the vehicles would have been inppropriate.

23+ years of this, and people always say, we have to stop where it happened to show who was at fault or how it happened. NOPE! Get if off the road. I know you are not in the right frame of mind after a crash, but that's why you always plan ahead and think through daily scenarios.

The newer light systems they are selling now will auto sync with other nearby emergency vehicles with the same systems. It's either that, or its just chance.

This is the unfortunate mindset of many American drivers. Fender bender can easily clear the roadway. Take a pic or video and clear the roadway. This makes absolutely no sense to sit on a highway to create unnecessary carnage

Seven or more police vehicles and a firetruck, and nobody had the sense to push those idiot driver's cars off of the road. However, after 45 minutes, someone told the pickdriver to move it because it was seen moving out of traffic. Amazingly, nobody crashed into that ridiculous gaggle.

cops generally won't move a privately owned vehicle due to liability concerns. the tow drivers have insurance against that; police departments do not

Your reasoning is tantamount to saying if a cop encounters a refrigerator sitting in the middle of a busy roadway that is putting hundreds of lives at risk, he must sit still and look at it until a salvage or towing contractor comes out to remove it instead of just pushing it out of the way with his car because of a worry about liability from damaging the appliance. Absurd. State and local officials have enormous leeway to clear a right of way. Just ask the E. Palestine, Ohio residents about their local officials' actions when they cleared the Norfolk Southern railway line running through that town.

That's I-90 NYS Thruway somewhere near Buffalo NY. Exit 49. New York drivers do not know what "Limit" means when it comes to driving speed. They average 5-15 mph over the limit all the time. Even during a snow emergency! They have to make their destination YESTERDAY! Then you have the habitual "Rubber Necker" that has to slow abruptly and ogle the scene. Some sections of the Thruway have lit signs warning of collision up ahead, but not throughout the entire route. Emergency personnel are pretty quick to respond, but crazy, speeding, and distracted drivers complicated the scene. All the time. I've driven that stretch from Rochester to Buffalo for almost 50 years, That's absolutely not a major incident!

Also a good example as to why you have a button with a red triangle in your vehicle that make your blinkers flash until you click it again. It is there for a reason, whether it works as intended or not.

I think every one should go back to driving school the roads are wet and people are driving way to fast and people are still driving way to fast wean you see flashing lights slow down and move over and I can see that people are not paying attention to that the way people drive is ridiculous they think it is a race track people need to get there heads out of there ass and pay attention
