Another way of visiting Boston suburban districts using train and bus routes remains interesting....however the fares are cheaper than other forms of transportation... AK the facilities at the stations are kept basic and functional. Thanks for sharing 👍

I wish they kept the electric wires. They should not have gotten rid of it, batteries will degrade over time.

It's nice to see the upgraded unique Silver Line Bus again. 😎 Good to know they have newer buses that run more efficiently without needing to manually switch from gas to electric. That was quite a bumpy ride, but it's very economical for only $2.40! 😂 Thank you for sharing this informative and fun bus ride, AK! 🤗🚌

Fun fact about the Chelsea side of the SL3 line: the current bus route used to be train tracks that connected from what's now East Boston's Bremen St. Park and Greenway from Maverick Square to get into Everett to continue into the Boston area and further north. I believe the rail was discontinued in the early 1950's.

You're absolutely correct about transferring from the bus to the Blue Line to go downtown: faster (skipping all that street running in the Seaport District), and a smoother ride! And free transfer, too.

The bus looks made by the same company as NYC MTA bus made by the Novas Bus and New Flyer.

So I just need to say the bus you're riding is actually a hybrid bus, not battery electric. Technically, the buses that ran on the line before were more green because they operated as hybrids (the diesel engine would act as a generator for the electric propulsion system, much like the BAE HDS works in this bus) without the wires, but fully electric with them. At points, the engine would shut off to prevent excessive idling on these newer buses, but they never quite operates fully electric for too long like the older ones did.

12:40 Also, the Blue Line is faster if downtown is your end point. But if you (like most riders) are transferring to the RED line, Silver Line routes, or even trying to get to Boston South Station, you better stay your butt on the SL3 because those transfers can be a B***

15:33 SOMETIMES the operator had to get out and fix the wires, but 90% of the time, as long as the operator stopped at the correct point, the wires would go right up and snap perfectly. I actually sat and did video here one day with the old operations and it was usually a piece of cake to get it all working. Rarely did it take any real effort or time to change modes.

Don’t they need to run as electric underground as to not pollute the tunnels?
@DashTransit8 ай бұрын
@@yaush_ they should, but as of right now they run regular buses on all the tunnel lines. There's a few electrics but not all of them are electric

I live in Pittsburgh and we have three busways The oldest, the S. Bus Way was built in 1977 We are currently in the process of building a bus rapid transit system from downtown Pittsburgh to the Oakland section of Pittsburgh, called the university line

The track less trollies( the silver line ones are dual mode) have reached the end of their lifespan and are due to be replaced within the next few years. The ones on the 72 and 73 who ran fully electric, no diesel mode, already retired last year because of construction work requiring the wires to be cut, which the 72 and 73 currently run diesel electric bases but will be battery electric in the near future.

There's a lot to bash about New York, same with Boston too. I'm from Boston and I got all sorts of bad things to say about this city. As much as I love it and I love being there and the restaurants and everything there's a lot of issues with our government. Same thing with New York. The city now caters to the elite and in my opinion it's trending in the worst direction. Our entire country is.

Was there a sudden increase of ridership in Boston after this video was published? AK makes informative public transportation videos to help tourists and even locals. It's good know there are different transportation options, especially if people are foreign to the area.
