Thank you, this is the simplest and the best video for beginners. It is true that google makes many things a bit overcomplicated. It is not clear for beginners that the conversion tag won't fire if you do not create a conversion tracking tag first..

13:30 Your screen doesn't show how much of the URL you're copying for the "page path" because that part of the screen is blocked out. But it would appear you didn't use the full URL of the thank you page, correct? This has to be the only place where I could've gone wrong. It's the only place in the video where there would've been room for the slightest ambiguity. Thanks in advance if you'd be willing to specify 🙏

at 9 minutes, I don't have the option to click google tags manager. this whole set up has been ridiculously frustrating. 5 days straight of trying to watch every single KZbin video and spend countless hours just to get to a fork in the road. idk what to do at this point

I am so glad I found this video. I thought I just needed to copy and past a snippet of code, seems like setup is a lot more complex now with Google Tag Manager.

very informative tutorial!! 2 things that i think could improve understanding the content. please be aware that for many of your viewers english may be second language so listening is a bit more difficult when you have music in the background. i would probably keep it but have it at much lower volume. another piece of feedback its sometimes a bit difficult to follow your mouse as you move it a lot, especially when switching back and forth between some areas. it all looks a bit fast so i'd rather try to keep the mouse in one place and move it only to do necessary action. but overall thank you very much for this tut. i personally know its a tough topic, and often find the UI panels of all google services (here google ads) to be somehow clunky, difficult to navigate and complicated.

same. I have found the whole conversion tracking is my idea of hell. literally. I've created google ads account, google merchant, google ad manager, google tag manager, google analytics... I've been around in circles trying different things, adding code to my shopify pages, removing it, clicking "link" "connect" here there and everywhere. I have accepted "suggestions" in google ads to add new conversion actions like "Purchase (Google Analytics event add_payment_info)"... and I still have absolutely ZERO IDEA WHAT THE HELL ANY OF IT MEANS. lol.... seriously there is a huge gap in the youtube market for a video that covers all this and does not use old pages. Google is changing these pages all the time, I don't recognise half of them in the videos I've seen on it, even if they have "2024" in their video title.

yeah and the problem with this is you're going to train the Google AI to find people that fill out the form but don't necessarily hire you. run that for a year and watch what happens. lol. your primary conversion should ONLY BE people that SPEND MONEY or the Google ads AI is going to optimize for people that waste time by filling out the form and "not spend money"

GTM is the bane of my existence. As an example... your guide showed at the end of the conversion setup on AdWords - "USE GTM" along with the conversion ID and labels - that doesn't show in my particular adwords account this doesn't show. Any idea why?

Figured it out... it's a bug when a property is linked to your analytics account - it won't show (even the code output doesn't work). Need to unlink, then redo the process, then you get the Conversion ID. What a PIA.

This particular example is for lead gen, but I can build a conversion event for KZbin ads as well? Right now I'm using click magic for measuring my conversions but I'm considering using GTM

Great video, I'm trying to install the google tag for websites not built using a web builder, would this mean installing the google tag under the head of EVERY page? As an agency owner, I don't own or have easy access to my clients website or web developer...also do I have to install a tag on every new product that gets added to the website?

Hey there! It's easiest if you can get access to their GTM (Google Tag Manager) and corresponding containers for that funnel, so you can just add tracking via GTM without the need to add tags and event snippets on every page. You would need to know the funnel steps and URLs though in order to test the tracking. If you need more in depth consulting - Feel free to book a call with us!

Hi, I have a Qn on the conversion actions optimization (primary and secondary) If I have 2 conversion actions created for Purchase. 1st one is to send the online purchases and 2nd one is to send the offline purchases. If I set both as primary conversion actions, would that be fine? Also, if i have multiple conversion actions as primary, as long as i am not sending a purchase into multiple conversion actions, that should be good, right? Thank you

Great Video, thanks heaps mate, just few quick questions: 1) In Purchase Goal, 2 Conversion Trackings are there, one from GA4 and one from Google Shopping App Channel. I believe that those came automatically. There is no data in those atm i.e. no conversions tracked. I want to implement Purchase via GTM. Shall i delete the former 2 and keep the one only via GTM OR mark them Secondary and keep the one implemented via GTM as Primary ? Which way is the best ? 2) What other conversion tracking's should i setup for Shopify Store e.g. Add to Cart etc? And shall i use them as Primary or Secondary ? 3) I have one Conversion action page_view implemented via GA4 (not sure from where it came) but i had run Campaign for Impression Share/Max Clicks for a new account. Now i want to implement all conversion trackings via GTM. If i delete this page_view and implement via GTM, all previous data will be lost ?

Thank you for this information. In many other tutorials including yours I see that all you need to set up is Conversion Linker and the Conversion Event. Googles instructions say to have the base GAds code on all pages. Do you need to set up a 3rd tag to fire on all pages or is this what the Conversion Linker is for? Appreciate any help here!

That's correct. Conversion linker tags help measure click data so that conversions are measured effectively across pages. You just Deploy a conversion linker tag on any page where visitors may land after they click an ad or promotion.

Thanks for the tutorial! From your experience, does it matter whether the "conversion source" is the website (So that the conversions are set up like in this video from the GTM straight to Ads) or whether the conversions are first created in GTM, for GA4 and then imported from GA4 to Google Ads? It should technically not matter, or does it?

There should be no difference between the conversion of a "button click" on your lead form and the amount of conversions on your "thank you page"?

Hi Andres, I can not solve a important thing on Google Ads and I really don't understand. My tag is fired, it's ok and shows succeded in Google Tag Manager, but is not okay, and not fired on Google Ads at "conversions", it shows unverified in a unbelievable way. This tag is similar another one I'm using right now with the same triggering (history changes), this another one is working well. Do you have ideia what's going on, please?

If both the Conversion Linker and Lead Tag were successful under "tags fired" after the test, but it shows "no recent conversions " in Google Ads what else needs doing?

Hey there! It means the tracking is setup properly, now you would just need conversions. If it would show as 'unverified' then something is off, but if it's 'no recent conversions' it means you need to now launch the campaign and get conversions so that it can start tracking. Hope this helps!

is it also possible to optimize for people that give me a specific answer in a lead form? for example I ask real estate seller leads when/if they are looking to sell and I only want to optimize for those wo tick the option for "as soon as possible" or "6-12 months"

Hey there! You can add purchase event/conversion with dynamic values. Google has some documentation on this that you can follow and setup with GTM Google Tag Manager. Hope this helps!

Really enjoyed the video. If you leave all your conversion actions set to primary but remove the ones you do not want the campaign to optimize for at the campaign creation stage, is that sufficient? Or do you also want to toggle the other ones to "Secondary"?

your only primary action should be one that is directly tied to people who spend money. otherwise you're going to train the Google ads AI to find people that fill out the form and waste your time... so this means you have to send enhanced conversion data back to Google ads AFTER people spend money. otherwise you are training an AI to find "tire kickers" instead of money spenders. you dig?

Hello, I noticed that when were running test from Google Ads “Troubleshoot” button/link then it resulted in error message AW… was not found. Happens to me too. Is it because you use GTM not Google tag?

@@linxdigital I'm pretty sure in my case it's added properly. Problem is probably that when you try to use troubleshoot it doens't expect GTM tag, but direct AW tag. This seems to be happen to other people as well

Hey, I am having an issue when tracking conversions with google tag (not GTM). In my case, I have setup purchase conversion action. whenever i do purchase on my website, and sending additional details like transaction id, value, currency etc... But for some reason they are not getting registered in the conversion actions summary page (that conversion has click id as well). In the status column of that conversion action, its showing No recent conversions, but when i hover on it, its showing me that last activity was 2days ago (which is the exact date when i triggred the conversion), I am trying to understand what does activity defines? is it different from recorded conversions? Someone help me on this, Thanks! Also, when we do purchase from organic search instead of ad click, does that conversion gets recorded as well?

Hey there! If it's showing 'No Recent Conversions' then it seems you did install the conversion tag properly. You just haven't gotten conversions attributed from your campaigns, if it wasn't working it would say 'Unverified' and you would have a link out to 'troubleshoot' the setup. And no, any purchases that come from organic search/traffic source it won't be fired by your google conversion tag, it will only be fired when there's an ad click that the conversion event can attribute it to. Hope this helps!

Question about THANK YOU pages in GOOGLE SEARCH campaigns: If I have 5 campaigns, one for each state, and I am geofencing each campaign to each state, do I still need to setup 5 different landing pages in order to effectively steer my campaign with conversions? e.g. thanks-texas, thanks-alabama, thanks-wyoming, thanks-montana, thanks-california, etc ? Instead, if I just put one thank you page as "thank-you" is that okay in the case where I am geofenced in each campaign? I really don't have time to create 5 separate thank you pages and configure 5 difference conversions in GTM and GA4...do I really have to do that?
