The reaosn why Sharvara was the best card in the deck was not only because of extension and seting, but because the destory to summon is a quick effect so it can dodge targeted negation on your other monsters.

Seems like a pretty fun list overall! I do think that the current format is just one big banlist away from being amazing, and this is a start for sure. The one I'd really love to see is actually an errata to Kashtira Orge to have you shuffle after the effect, or you know, just ban it 🤣It's not too powerful or anything, it's just that in a casual meta where you are trying to have back and forth interactions, a card that lets somebody see your next 4 draws and sculpt it a little, that's so depressing. Completely takes away the fun and surprise of the draw phase where the whole dynamic of the game could change.

As a plant andy in master duel. Limiting dryas and healer is really huge cuz usually the plant combo goes through 2 dryas and 2 healers without extenders when you have double jasmine on board. It essentially puts it so you are likely to get only 1 or 2 jasmine searches while spending the sunseed twin revive effect in grave. Instead of getting 4+ searches in the combo. Dunno about the new plant stuff and how its gonna change the combo since I stopped playing for a while.

8:45 The Red Dog is the most important Unchained card, as it does several things: 1) It's a level 6 fiend you get access to multiple times during its standard combo (+ the Blue Dog), so the Unchained Endboard gets to also end on D/D/D Wave High King Caesar to add 2 Special Summon negates to its normal setup. 2) As you can pop your things as a quick effect, it is both handtrap insurance on Tour Guide, your best normal summon since you can pop her in response to imperm and veiler, as well as aditional disruption on the opponent's turn from the hand by quick popping one of your other Unchained monsters to both revive Rage with Soul Lord of Yama for a Superpoly-Link as well as summoning Abominable Unchained Soul from deck or GY with any of the floating effects of your little guys. I can't understate how much Sharvara to 1 is a massive hit to unchained, as now you have to pick between the High Ceasar or the extra handtrap disruption, and that's if you have access to everything, which is no longer guaranteed as some setups required multiple Sharvaras. This is all in adition to setting backrow from deck, which again, smoothed out hands tremendously. Now Unchained has to make extremely hard choices about what it wants to have in its endboard if it can get there.

As someone who had the deck and played it on and off since 2019 this is leaving the deck in terms of genuine competitiveness on life support, it doesnt only reduce the decks consistency but it completely reduces playability past turn one by like 60% and on turn one by like 30% considering as the OP said sometimes combos to set up an actual board required 2 sharvaras. The deck getting a “light hit” is a GRAPHIC understatement, I mean theres a small chance it still floats around on a tier 2 but youre way better off playing any other meta deck at that point. Card lived all of 5 months, rip the only deck I genuinely had fun with since the release of magical musketeers.

This banlist definitely felp like a Junior Journey banlist. Stuff that was questionably hit came off, powercrept stuff came off and hitting or outright banning certain cards to future-proof certain decks. Definitely like the list, looking forward to playing PKBA in a more manageable format next year.

Isolde being banned makes OG Noble Knights literally unplayable. Brothers is too jank now to run even at one without her. Iyvanne becomes the third most useless card in the archetype (Only Round Table and vanilla Arthur himself beats it (Both these being really bad is also why Camelot is bad)). Custennin's errata is now pointless to have done. Borz (or even Pellinore) is now the target over Iyvanne for Mordred to summon, which either does nothing or make the rank 5... which ISN'T what you want on your end board, as the rank 5 is your game ender target, so being forced to summon it on a turn you can't battle and it being a monster with no innate protections... If it wasn't for the sheer amount of restrictions these cards have, Isolde being banned wouldn't do a lot to Noble Knights, but when you have a card that summons a token in an XYZ deck with one link, link banned now, and LOCKING YOU TO NOBLE KNIGHTS FOR DOING SO, you see Konami really doesn't know what they're actually doing. Errata'ing Isolde to either having to have Noble Knights as material or even sending only Noble Arms for her cost would've fixed the issue without killing Noble Knights outright (or reducing Infernobles to a slight limp). Also doesn't help that not one Noble Knight monster has a quick effect... Only one is Merlin, and he can't be searched... like... at all...

I like floodgates. I know they can be kind of toxic, but they can be really key in beating strong combo decks like Kashtira. IMO limiting them only makes decks like that stronger. If you can slow the game down a bit and take back some control it can really help a lot.

I personally think that if infernity launcher went to 2 it'd be a pretty crazy deck in the current format, though Halq is currently banned (Beetle go BRRRRRRR), it makes it harder for them to build some really nasty boards. This is just my opinion though. I still think they can become pretty crazy if they got one good Xyz and one good Link monster to push them over that threshold as there are already tons of ways to empty your hand.

@@apsamplifier I myself feel the deck was definitely very, very strong. However, it wasn't the most dominating deck like tear or kashtira, had clear counters both in techs and other meta decks (its matchup vs tear was almost unwinnable, you could see in topping breakdowns that any YCS that had significant numbers of good tear players had a far smaller Unchained rep) and once it did its combo played with a gameplan that was on the table that was not negate spam. Something has to be good. And this year was very good for midrange decks playing that super grindy long game to setup for a strong turn 3 play, while the hit to Sharvara is massive to the deck I hope it was just a "hit the top decks to rotate slightly" but keeping the lessons learned from this year of how fun the game is when most decks are playing for that turn three.

@@apsamplifier it became strong after DUNE, but not super crazy. Reason it did so well is because people didn't respect it at first, which is why people didn't know how to play against it. It takes a really good player to grind it out to the top, hence why it didn't dominate YCS Bologna. Before couldn't really do much cause of the fiend lock, now it's kinda the same thing with one line of play that doesn't lock you in the beginning. (shavara)

As a Rikka player in tournament, I can already say that plants are not dead ! Yeah sure it's a big hit especially for the consistency and will block some synergies like Therions cards but overall, we can still play some Loci to make dryas and be able to summon the link 2 Jamin for the tribute/ special summon and the link 4 play. What really interesting is that with this hit, Rikka will not be able to add plants monsters in hand with the engine alone. However I imagine already some plays with Mardel by a tribute with Jasmin for example. Maybe the right hit could have been a limitation of Jasmin (as she's been playing at 2 for another +1 monster) but obviously with the new aromage support that is coming, it's out of the question for Konami I guess. Anyway really sad that the deck was hit, and it's honestly a bit weird that the two are now limited, I mean Dryas alone is enough, Healer doesn't do anything if Dryas is already at 1. I'm looking forward to the new plants cards ! Maybe some good will come to it for my Rikka girls !

im also a rikka player but im struggling to see how we come back from this. i mean hitting dryas to 1 or healer to 1 would already hurt but both to 1 just makes me think loki like would really only be reasonable for 4 free materials and idk what to do from that point. loci on its own gets you to the current end board and the other 4 cards are just for flavor but with 2 big hits whats next. granted i read the new aroma cards once and havent read them since (should probably do that) but theres no way they do as much as 2 dryas 2 healer do right?

I play sunavalon and limiting dryass to one kills the main killer combo entirely. The main line will now be insta going into dance peone in the hopes of hitting enough monsters to do something akin to the old combo. The deck may not even see play untill we get the aromalyths.

I'm surprised to see Circular forbidden. I don't think it should be unlimited and expected it to see it get limited to 1 at some point. I get that a lot of the community are terrified of it, but I feel there are enough hand traps, outs, and counters to deal with a single Circular in the deck. Making it forbidden seems a bit like overkill.

If you can't answer it the combo ended on terrahertz negate with deasavewurm, heatsoul and set trap with like 4+ cards in hand and pog on your turn going first. Going second it was always gonna hit otk and was splashed in other cyberse decks as an engine because of that too

It sucks that Isolde and Circular gets full on banned. I like the Matchmech deck For Matchmech and summoning Final Sigma as a final boss. I built the deck around summoning Final Sigma quick or making sure battle damage occurs with level 8s like Sauge de Fleur for popping an opponent's card at no cost and Yamatoko Orochi to give Final Sigma piercing. If I summoned Final Sigma then this duel is ending soon, one way or the other.

To me, this just highlights how Master Duel is very much it's own unique format. If you look at Master Duel, some of these cards like Harp Horror could've been let out of prison a long time ago. I don't know if Fenrir is unlimited in the TCG, but if it is, it's wild that Pankratops is finally back to 2. Also, There Can Be Only One is some cancer.

Did you play or know anyone who played with the fairies as they were intended in a disruption strategy? I didn't. Even if their was no synergy, without tearlaments I am not sure the Ishizu cards would've had any time in the spotlight.

Spotlight my ass. That "honor" clearly belonged to tearlaments and it got that by abusing the crap out of the ishizu cards despite being perfectly functional by itself. Plus its treatment on the ban list is better to. Only one banned card(which is a fuion monster) and 3 limited monsters to its line up of 6. Despite having the same number of cards banned, Ishizu is more adversely affected than tearlaments. Why? Because tear is broken meta deck number bajillion and 1. That's why people play it. Take it away and no one will care because they'll move on to the next broken meta deck. As an anime deck, the Ishizu cards have more people that care about them. People will remember Ishizu long after tearlaments, kash, and all of their broken affiliates because people are attached to them through the anime and manga. Tearlaments only have meta players and meta players inherently don't care what cards they abuse because their only concern is winning. If a choice has to be made between who gets the axe, it's pretty darn clear which it should always be.

I could see another deck or two picking them up for activating graveyard effects (perhaps Horus, maybe zombies) but the original intention was as a disruption strategy to go with necrovalley or a necrovalley like effect to disrupt and that wasn't going to work as far I could tell.

They should have hit more tear cards before even thinking about touching Ishizu's cards.Tearlaments did the crime, but Ishizu is getting the time.

I used half Noble knight, half Infernoble knight with 1 gearfreed and now that it's banned I can't get the deck to work anymore.... So many cards lock you into Noble knights so they're due a new link monster or an erata on Isolde, or they'll vanish into obscurity. It feels like my Britishness is under attack here ¬_¬... thankfully theres an OCG for now.

what doesn't make sense: -limiting floodgates but not touching shifter -banning the already limited millers but leaving runick as it is (mills into banished) -leaving red reboot on banned whilst lab can literally turn 0 you (if red reboot was unbanned, there wouldn't be a need for the floodgate limit)

I can agree with you up until runick because runick really isnt that insane. Its annoying sure but its not kelbek/agido insane. The advantage tear got from those cards is better than banishing 1-4 cards from top deck especially with more decks being able to recycle banished now

@@MaliEndz we had different experiences, on my locals there are like 4 runicks and one tear safe to say that runick ruins my day as it banishes quite a hefty amount whilst tear keeps it in the gy oh and I forgot to mention that Called by the grave shoul be unlimited, because handtraps are in every deck and we get only 1 counter, what's up with that?

Runik is fine. It's doing barely anything and the stun builds are hurt more by floodgates going. Runik mills don't net them advantage at all. Reboot hurts more decks than it helps they should just ban d barrier and viruses

Harp Horror is finally free!!!! \o/ I really wanna play Orcust so hopefully someone comes up with a solid, budget friendly build. Trell’s HBO build was nuts but the Horus engine is a bit too pricy for me atm I run 3 Rivalry in my Doomking Eldlich deck so while I’m sad to see it get nerfed I understand why it needed to happen. Looks like I’ll have to put in Anti-Spell and Skill Drain to fill up those spots 😈😈😈

Upstart goblin is probably bigger than people expect. Never underestimate the power of being able to essentially play 37 cards in your main deck. Just remember it can make the most consistent decks even more consistent.

It's bad though now. There's more specific searchers that grab what you need but also if your deck can play prosperity you play that instead as going 6 deep and getting the thing you need is better than a blind draw. The consistency it offers now is nothing to the modern game. You would rather have upstart be ash instead which if you have 3 slots to fill or going second you would rather it be well actually a board breaker that they can't whiff out you trying to draw into

@GG_Nowa If your playing a hyper consistent deck at 40 cards and you trim it to 37 it makes your initial draws more consistent esp when you add the tutors. The 1000LP shouldn't change the game. Though it would only be about a 5% increase in draw consistency its still cycling for no cost. As i said in my initial post you wouldnt replace the tutors you would play both and pot.

@@Drummerdude5342 you can't draw the turn you use pot of prosperity. Both don't work together and prosperity has kinda shown it's better because a more currated 1 for 1 beats blind draw 1. But you're also missing the major factor where you still would rather play ash or another card that does stuff first and second by being interactions

So what if Isolde wasn't being used in the archetypal deck? That's completely irrelevant. What matters is whether the decks were doing something unfair with it or not. By that logic Barrone should be banned because people aren't playing fleurs, Access code should be banned because people aren't using it in code talkers, Savage should be banned because it's not only seeing play in dragonlink. What was Isolde even doing anyways? Dolphin hand rip? They should've banned dolphin then.

Cool to have most problematic floodgates at one without baning them. Balance is good. I know an Exodia player who recently pulled a very awesome display that will be happy to see Upstart Goblin at three. Also, TCG can give some flowers to Master Duel for helping refine their format. The analytics from that game has influenced this banlist.
