to add to @gkiferonhs comment. The surface of the ground heats up and warms the air around it, and as you know heat rises. A rising column of air forms and due to the Coriolis effect the air that replaces the rising air spins as it is sucked in, causing the dust devils. Glider pilots look for those telltale signs because the rising air will raise their glider back up to altitude.

Also, at a world famous spot just north of that called The Barge Hole. Right on the Sacramento river. It was just down the hill, right behind my house! So awesome to see you go through my home town, as well as where I live now! I live somewhat close to Tahoe, down the highway 50 corridor, in a small town where the US gold rush started. Right up the road from Sutters Mill, the place where gold was so abundant, you could walk down the creek and pick up gold nuggets like they were acorns. Millions of dollars, just strewn about like dirt on the ground. I live in the mining town right by it, called Placerville. Home of Placer gold. You are the best international family on earth!

I’m from the local area and I wish this was true. One of the biggest contributors the the out of control fires is the state is VERY strict about fires, control burning varies region to region, but my family owns a property that does control burns in April and November and we gave up get a permit for it. I could go one about other particulars but I want to focus on the issue that the state has allowed activists who haven’t lived in the area to dictate how to manage the forest that has led to the overgrown brush. We once had mills but most of them were forced to close down, apparently the one closer to where I live that my community used to have their economy based on closed to help a type of owl migrate. Over the next 20-30 years the forests haven’t really been touched unless it’s a private property, and one of the types of plants that got carried away in the forest was manzanita bushes. I don’t know if anyone knows much about manzanita bushes, but they are very different to cut back. Their wood is flexible but sturdy, they don’t break like normal wood. The wood is a very dense material, it can be brittle but very difficult to just break off. On top of that they have a sap that is very prone to be EXTREMELY flammable. The worst part is they might seem harmless as a small bush, but some of these guys can turn into the height of a tree but have the form of a bush, think at least 10 feet high. Now with that description, it becomes beyond difficult for anyone to access anywhere in a scenery of manzanita bushes EVERYWHERE. My two examples is one horrific fire that happened in Santa Rosa that had wind issues to spread the fire up to the mountains. When the firefighters went to the mountain side to the emergency road, the road was invaded by manzanita brush that the fire trucks couldn’t even fit in the road! Keep in mind some fire trucks have the firefights hang on the outside of the vehicle to transport to the location on site. Another instance in the Carr fire where the mountain ridges are covered with manzanita for millions of acres, no firefighter was able to successfully penetrate that wall of manzanita. And unfortunately through the drive of this video it has confirmed there’s a lot of manzanita bushes growing EVERYWHERE, they are small, but it will be another problem to deal with in the next 20-30 years unless someone with brains actually kicks out the wrong people and puts in those who have the understanding of the local area to fix this mess. With that, the manzanita with thwart any forest from growing as they will block any sunlight for the young samplings to grow. So sadly the forest is not going to bond back till competent people listen to the locals and actually understands that this areas needs people to be a part of managing it. Tragically this has costed so much, and now that species of owls don’t have a big forest to migrate to.

The fences are traditional style fencing from the past. Stacked at an angle for stability and to resist wind and snow. Also, they didn’t really have fasteners, so stacking it like that actually held the fence up. They are more common than you would think, especially in Pennsylvania and Ohio.

Your videos are all about the adventure and not just about food and you tslking. It is delightful to go on adventures with your fsmily. I hope your children truly appreciate what you are doing for them. They are getting the education of a lifetime, memories to last them forever and great video to go back to to relive the adventures. When I was 12 my dad took me and my mom on a 6 week trip to Europe ( 1960) at 76 now, I have forgotten a lot about the trip but not the main things, the important things. The one thing I wish I still had are the pictures. Most everything we saw was on slides because we couldn't use flash bulbs on cameras indoors. Those slides eventually faded and deteriorated. No video camrrss . But I have many great memories . Now I can take virtual tours of museums.that I went to.. When I look at video tours of cities and towns I visited, most everything has changed since I was there 64 yrs. ago. Nevertheless, my dad gave me the gift of a lifetime as you are giving to your family. Renting that RV and traveling the country that way.was the best thing you could have done. What an adventure and I'm enjoying going on it with you.!

I'm in Chico. Shasta Lake was the first time I ever saw a bear.

@@vincentmccay1955 I'd been wanting to see one and then when I actually did I totally panicked. Kept asking "But do they eat kids? They eat kids? Do they always kill kids? Or just sometimes?" LOL

If in the future you have windshield crack!!! Stop at the nearest beauty supply store and get the best recommended clear coat. Fill the crack with that and it will keep it from spreading. I learned that lobg ago from a man with a windshield repair company. I love y'all's channel ❤

You're in my neck of the woods in the mountains and valleys of Northern California, beautiful country, glad you're enjoying it, last summer I took my kayak right out into the middle of Lake Tahoe on a sunny day with snow caps all around, it was quite memorable. The reason theyre looking for fruits and vegetables at the inspection stations is to protect California's vast agricultural industry from invasive pests, often times theyll check firewood too if you're in a camper.

Safelite rips off. Safelite wanted $675 to replace mine. I paid $235 from a local repair shop.
