I actually flew many hours with one of the gentlemen in this video on an aircraft in the Air Force. We were in the same squadron. He is an absolute professional. You can imagine my surprise when I saw him watching your video and recognized him immediately. I haven’t seen him in over 10 years. I sent him the link and let him know I saw him, a very neat experience. I’m proud of him. It’s got to be an awesome experience to cross over from the Air Force to a brand new military branch in its infancy like that. There’s no telling what it could be in the future, and he’s on the ground floor of it! Great video and reaction!

The space force actually have full control of every satellite that belongs to the US. They also train for the day battles happen in zero gravity. It’s a completely different environment than you expect as the object is not to kill but to puncture the enemy’s spacesuit as it’s an immediate death once oxygen leaves the suit. They also would be the ones to set up space bases or stations that military use. They have a huge presence at Kennedy space center launching new satellites almost every week. They also train under zero gravity conditions using the Kennedy space center simulators and the underwater testing grounds.

It started as Aerospace Defence Command, then everything went to Strategic Air Command, then Space Command, then they became their own "Space Force". Alice Springs NT AU is an integral part of the satellite tracking system. You can also look up BMWS, DEW Line for North America.

During the time when it all went to SAC, they just called us “satcom”, but we were rapidly transitioning all the stuff into Space Command. We had a few guys from Buckley n Peterson in training us at the time. I punched the early-out ticket though, so I don’t get the cool uniform patch.

Patrick SFB/AFB is close to both my house near Disney and Kennedy Space Center. One of the main Space Force bases. It is responsible for launches at Cape Canaveral Space Force Base.

What you might not understand Courtney, the Air Force was already doing these operations. It is an extension of the Air Force. It's just a new command separate but adjacent to the Air Force. I currently work at a Space Force Base.

Man, as a retired Army SGT, I always appreciated my service however their were times where I wish I did go back and see that Air Force Recruiter instead. I'd signed up to transition over to The Space Force fast as hell if I did.

Prior to the creation of Space Force the Army, Air Force, Marines and Navy had units to desine and build rockets, missiles and satellites. Each branch did their own research and kept their results to themselves. Nobody wanted to share their secrets. What Space Force did was move all those units under one command. No more doubling or tripling R&D costs. It just makes since to put all these folks together and working with each other. As someone who spent 20 years in the USAF I can't wait to see our new baby branch get off the ground and LAUNCH. Good luck folks. Just my $0.02

Take a good look at the Space Force insignia. It looks a lot like the same insignia that was used in Star Trek.

The SF insignia is the same delta used in the Space Command insignia. Star Trek copied it and flattened it, cranked one of the points, and added a shooting star. I believe there is a story about it.

The Space Force goes through the same bootcamp as the Air Force at Lackland AFB, TX. Then their tech school is the same as it was when the command was under the Air Force. Pretty much the only thing that has changed is the Command structure and stationary letterhead.

Nope, they are Spaceman Basic, Spaceman, and Spaceman 1st Class. Think modified Airman ranking.

@@heywoodjablowme8120 in the USAF, the ranks for enlisted begin with Airman Basic (no insignia)- a recruit in Basic Training, Airman (single wing/stripe) usually @ 6months, Airman 1st Class (double wing/stripe) usually @ 16 months, sometimes awarded to college grads who chose not to go to OTS, and Senior Airman (triple wing/stripe) usually @ 36 months. In the Space Force, they obviously avoided the jokes by not using the comparable nomenclature of Airman, Spaceman. Instead these ranks are Specialist beginning with 1 and running to 4. Then they revert to the usual ranks associated with NCOs and Senior NCOs of the USAF.

I'm in no way trying to diminish what the people in the Space Force do, but all the duties they undertake were already behind handled by other branches of the military. A new branch was not necessary. It was just Trump watching too many science fiction shows.

I'm sorry but I still can't get used to it don't know even today still if it's really worth the money and time because we had NASA and AF doing all this anyways but hay guess if it takes the load off of them and let them move on to better things we need to get done let SF do this know and whatever is in space may come later to watch over us then I guess it's all good. I think the whole space force is a waste of money and man power. The Air Force could have easily maintain this "space" department including cyber security, satellite protection etc etc. It may change 20 or 50 years from now but it just doesn't make any sense right now.

You do realize that there is no real added expense caused by Space Force because the commands that make it up already existed. The separation makes it easier to budget its growing needs apart from the Air Force. Basically most of the Space Force bases are shared property on a USAF base.
