I couldn’t appreciate enough, the kind gesture of the kiwis. Not just the normal public, but even the cops are way too nice. At the cop stop, the first thing a cop will do is greet you with smile and ask you how your day has been so far. It’s makes us feel so comfortable and sometimes, even that nice gesture can make your day. So much love to NZ and the cops and everyone. Love from #America

Love your work, and thank you for your service. I have a question. My nephew is graduating from the Police soon and I want to know if there’s a traditional gift given on the final day of Police training / or final exam? I did Nursing (NZ) and on the first morning of our final exams we may be given flowers by our family. The general public do not know this and a lot of students miss out when they see other students get flowers. Anyway any traditions or advice on getting him something memorable or traditional on completion of his Police studies & training? Thanking you in advance😊
@mikeg99524 жыл бұрын
Kia ora my nursing sister. I'm afraid I don't I don't have an answer for you. However I can easily feel your pride and respect for your nephew (and his chosen to-be Whanau). Over the years I've worn uniforms of NZ Army, St John, RN, NZFS (FENZ). Our communication skills that we learn as registered nurses are SO similar to police because at the heart of it we know that our language, or patient's language, a victim's language and a suspect's language is all the same thing. Huge difference between hearing and listening! Two-way communication, respect, honesty, and every message we send out should be able to be followed up exactly as the message was sent. I don't know any of you. I wish your nephew has the opportunity to be taught properly post his Graduation. Kind Regards Mike

How do your ranks and insignia work? Why are the Sergeants chevrons pointing up as opposed to Australia for example where they point down?
@doncoleman49386 жыл бұрын
I think NZP just go from Constable to Sergeant (like in the UK). Even though they don't have senior constable, senior sergeant or similar like in Australia, I think they have a similar pay point progression. I have NZP epaulettes in my collection for constable, sergeant and inspector, so think that's the rank progression.

Busy time for you guys this time of year. Thanks for doing what you do. Stopped at a bottle store last night for a Christmas gift and on my way in, saw a guy drinking booze in the driver's seat. They drove off before I could get their rego. Then I checked my dashcam but it missed it. Couldn't believe the amount of people making stupid decisions, unable to keep within their lanes, etc. People, don't drink and drive. The police say this for your own safety as well as everyone else's. With four dead already this weekend though, some still don't listen.

@@newzealandpolice thanks. I would have but my phone was flat. Helped get half a dozen drunks off the road by calling police in just the last five years or so. Always good to see the cavalry arrive with their red and blues flashing. Sad to see some unable to even stand. A family friend, her partner and their dogs were killed by a drunk on the NW motorway before barriers were installed so it is something I find hard to overlook.
@monique10j6 жыл бұрын
That is horrible. Perhaps there is no crime, nor infringement by merely drinking, the category 1 offence would be when having exceeded the legal limit whilst driving a vehicle.
@Smurphenstein6 жыл бұрын
@@monique10j I agree and I hadn't seen them driving. Not the most responsible thing to do though.
@monique10j6 жыл бұрын
People not being able to keep within their lane to me is a bigger concern. I don't agree that being a stupid decision, but more likely from a lack of attention, and a lack of attention can be fatal. A tradesman for an example having one beer as he travels home is not illegal as far as I can tell, and nor should it be. Those barriers on motorways have IMO prevented many lives being lost. I would like to see the legislative, executive, and judicial branches working towards prevention rather than revenue collecting. For example a sentence that includes hearing the stories from victims of crime, and hearing the decisions of Judges regarding different crimes may make some rethink their beliefs their opinion's, behaviours, and having to roll reverse, and play the roll of the victim in a drama class. Right now a system doing the same things, and expecting different results is ludicrous. I want the roads to be safer, for that to happen citizens mindsets have to change, fines don't create that change. This upload was about stolen cars, for change to occur a criminals sense of entitlement would have to change.

I know when you get your restricted in an automatic vehicle you’re only allowed to drive an automatic vehicle during the period of your restricted licence unless accompanied by a fully licensed driver.. BUT Does that mean you also have to sit your full in a manual to be able to drive a manual on your full licence? Or once you have your full does it not matter??
