Hi all, As I mentioned in my latest Community post I will be re-publishing a handful of videos over the next few weeks, which I originally removed last year as I was not happy with the quality of them. However, there has been such a high demand to have them back on the Channel that I have decided to reinstate them; this video being one of them. Thank you all for your continued support on the Channel, LfE

I guessing KZbin also demonetised this type of content. They don't like high quality videos like this.

@@woodybenjam I'm guessing you're right, and the true sadness is they're trying to remove the privilege of the public to honor both the Cpl & the L/Cpl. Only if they were immediate family of either of these superb soldiers would they perhaps truly begin to understand, to grasp it all.

Something this video doesn't mention: Lance Corporal Smith died a month later on 28 September 2011 whilst assisting the CRU on a high risk arrest operation in Wardak Province. I wish these two warriors didn't die for nothing, given the current state of Afghanistan. That operation was cursed from the start, and we lost two of our best soldiers fighting in a country that had no chance at regaining stability. Rest in peace Corporal Grant & Lance Corporal Smith. We will remember them.

Liked and subscribed. There are no periods or dots in Western acronyms for naval and military units or task forces. It's SAS in Australia and New Zealand, and SBS in allied countries. More formally, in combined operations, for example, it may be HQ (NZ) 1 Bde or 1 Sqn (AS) SAS. In Australia, 4 RAR took over the role of 1 Cdo regiment, although you'll see CDO quite often. 2 Cdo Regiment remains as the premier reserve commando regiment. Years ago it was SASR, but now just SAS, in Oz.

Norwegian special ops managed to get majority of them back to Norway or other countries in Europe, I think mainly Norway. Norway took over the mentoring after new zealand stopped in 2012-2014(cant remember exactly). They left a few weeks before Taliban started their conquering of Afghanistan, and went back when they were near Kabul. It was funny when the media asked if the special ops would ever be deployed if needed in afghanistan again, and he said no. 2 weeks later, they deployed and left the Kabul base from a secret exit/entrance, and drove around kabul to pick up their "weapon brothers" as they called them. I think they got most of them, if not all the cru operators out of Kabul. Believe it or not, but taliban actually worked together with the allies. There is pictures of marines, norwegian special ops and taliban standing beside eachother with weapons.

PM John Key had the SAS babysit aspiring Afghan Special Op's hopefuls. He got a lot of criticism about changing normal operational procedures. 2 SAS warriors lose their lives.

the CRU isnt a huge unit, what can they do when rest of ANA regular soldiers give up?
@MASB29

As far as I know, most did fight till the end. That's why Brittish SAS did an emergency exfill from Afghanistan, they were with the Afghan SF (Presumebly CRU) till the end

The ANA gave up because they had zero support from corrupt politicians. I'm not sure if it is correct but I heard rumours that many were told to hand body armour back, and that ammunition was not being replaced. Once the ANA gave up as they could hardly be expected to fight with zero ammunition in some areas you cant expect the CRU to pick up all the slack and they fought way past the point of it being hopeless.

Great presentation. In the end, without the direct supervision and leadership of competent organizations within the coalition, the afg forces failed, this failure having been aided by the incompetence of leadership at the highest levels in the US. As a former US service member with 2 "hot" deployment to afg., I want to apologize to all members of the coalition who served and sacrificed so much to support the US over 20 years, and for how US leadership totally botched and sabotaged 20 years of effort in such a short time. I hope you can forgive us, and I hope that in the future, if such a need for your support occurs, that you will answer the phone when we call.

4 Taliban fighters killed 8 Afghani Police, 3 Security Guards and an NZSAS operator and their activities also lead to another 22 'others' being wounded in the fighting, including 3 former Gurkhas. Actually quite incredible.
