They made beautiful Zenith EP chronomaster Triple Calendar Moonphase in the early 2000s, with stepped bezel and grooves, you can find these around 5000chf, and the finishing is top-notch…

Own it, and hate it. Terrible legibility; had to send it for servicing almost immediately b/c power reserve was 1/2 of what was advertised; minute hand jumps when you try to set it; and I’ll take a 40% punch in the face when I sell it for the Rolex DayDate that I should have bought all along. Watchmaker’s watchmaker, my as$hole.

I tried one in person just to see how right it looked on my wrist. But, for now, it looks so wrong for my bank account. Barring financial hurdles and just looking at the watch, it's expensive, but, pretty good price-wise with all things considered. I can easily see this could be a very nice one and done watch. It covers everything I could conceive of wanting from various watches in one compact package. Certainly one of the few watches I am tempted to sell all my watches for to accomplish just that. Only niggle is the way the lugs are rather straight and will float above the wrist and leave a gap around that area. And I also have a 7" wrist. It's just the nature of the design. But, something worth considering if having a beautiful watch fitting 100% perfectly around the wrist is a must. A larger wrist size might make such a gap and lug overhang less apparent.

I tried both the Triple Calendar and the date only model and found the date only model more comfortable. For a triple calendar the thickness is perfectly fine, yet for comfort…give me a thinner watch.

I'm in love, absolutely spectacular. Oh, the watch is nice too. This El Primero is amazing, the finishing level is spectacular (other than the clasp) and I love the colors chosen for this panda dial. I don't think gold hands was an obvious choice, but it really elevates the overall design and adds that extra pop. I own the black dial chronomaster sport and adore that watch, but same clasp unfortunately. The 3600 movements really are beautifully finished, and while the 1/10 second hand is a bit not so useful, it's fun and showcases the high beat movement. I see this Zenith on your 7 INCH WRIST, how does it feel or visually wear in person? true to the 38mm size or a bit larger? I love the way the chronomaster sport wears on my 7.3" wrist (it's ok to compare wrist sizes if you are a "watch enthusiast") but worry about the wrist presence of this model.

Always so much fun on your channel! Please, sell a watch instead of an eye. You can always buy back a watch you miss, and there is no Chrono24 for second hand eyes (or for second hand hands if you ask). (The main competitor is the standard chrono only El Primero 38mm. The moon is more suited for dress watches, I think.)

Best competition to this thing is a second hand Ebel sports chronograph with the el primero movement with a perpetual calendar. Same size, great bracelets, an even better calendar function and great style

The main competition is going to be vintage. Heuer, for example, has one of the most lovely triple calendar chronographs ever made in solid 18K gold (they retail for around $6K-$8K these days and upwards of $10K-$12K on an 18K bracelet). They are run on the old Valjoux 88c and Heuer called them the "Golden Hours." Gorgeous. I had one and recently sold it for around $7K (picked it up at auction for $5K to sell at retail). Personally? I'd go vintage if it was serviced. However, I do love these as well. Hard choice - new technology or vintage? If I get another Heuer Golden Hours in stock, I'd be more than willing to send to you for a video. They are manual wind as well - so a lot of charm, there.

@@Judah.Rosenthal I’m more worried about buying a fake for 5-6 grand than buying brand new for 10 grand. Buying used is tempting! But even authentication services like on eBay don’t actually open up the watch and inspect the entire movement. It’s too expensive for them to do. Some are buying good cases with defected movements and swapping them. Only the best of the best would know the difference and I’m definitely not one of them. I don’t intend to sell any of my watches so I pick super carefully and just pay retail for peace of mind (and factory warranty). Schmuck? Yes, but a peacefully sleeping schmuck!

This watch is beautiful. I've tried it and... it has a major issue. Surprised that you're not talking about that. Maybe it is due to my wrist. But the bracelet meet the case way too high above the case back. Which means that I had a big empty gap between my wrist and the lug. I really hated that !

JLC does have a chronograph version of the master calendar though. That may be the best comparison, But it’s even more expensive at around 19k. At least new. You can save a ton on the grey with those master controls.

Zenith did sell this type of movement in the 1990's. I own one, Ref 59.6000.410, an elegant two-tone example within the Academy collection. The chronograph seconds hand advances at normal speed, 60 seconds per rotation. It is only 12.3 mm thick. Upon buying it, I had it serviced by Zenith in Switzerland, and I think that I may never sell it.

I was very excited when this watch came out and I was fortunate enough to try one on. The watch was stunning but I felt like it didn't sit well on my 16 cm wrist. I believe it's because of the bracelet but it looked very large. Larger than a Speedmaster. I guess I saved myself $13'900.

Conceptually, I think these 10th of a Second EP movements are great. They are visually exciting and display what makes this movement great. I bet this feature sells a lot of watches because it's a nice point of difference. As a nerd who actually uses has chronograph though, this feature would piss me off. I'd rather have a Tachymeter with 30 minute / 12 hour subdials. If Zenith made this exact watch but without the 10th of a second display. It would be perfect to the point I would seriously consider selling all my watches and making it my one and done. I hope Zenith brings out this upgraded El Primero movement with a more normal display of the chronograph. Thank you for reading about my mental illness.

Did you try advancing the date to midnight, and then going backwards to the 9pm position, and back to midnight to advance the date again? I have to do that with my 2008 Navitimer. It's still a pain, but not as bad as advancing through the whole month.

There is a JLC master control calendar chronograph (priced higher), and there was Zenith El Primero triple calendars from the 90s to early 2000s that are insane bargain compared to this new one and has a normal 10 hz chronograph with minutes and 12 hr totalizer.

Hang on , i've got a 90's chronometer rated Chronomaster with El Primero, triple calendar and moonphase. Zenith sold a lot of these. This is just a rehash of this old movement, identical moonphase disc, straight out of the 90's parts bin, they are just adding the stupidly spinning chrono

Consider how much you’ll really use the Daytona chronograph since you have to unscrew the pushers. I found it annoying so I have stuck with Speedmasters, this Zenith and Sinn 103s.

I returned the salmon dial el primero solely because of how the clasp and the bracelet felt. I’d have to describe it as.. cheap feeling. No hate to zenith, still have and love the zenith shadow
