Andrew, great review. I’m seriously, considering this. I would be interested in the results of your test in the summer. I would also like to see more reviews of products you use. Great video, well done! I hope NewAir adds a password feature so if the unit is stolen (like from a camp site or out of the boat ) it is useless to the thief. Won't get it back for you but at least the Ahole that stole it won't be able to use it. It should flash "THIS COOLER WAS STOLEN, PASSWORD REQUIRED", in case the thief tries to sell it.

Thanks for all the great content.......We used the identical unit you tested here. It sat in the basement of our motorhome, never unplugged. We traveled over 10k miles/5 months, over some of the roughest roads the US has to offer. I can't tell you how many times it was opened/closed or the exact duration.(LOTS)When we got back from the store to restock, my wife would rotate & repack the freezer with the lids opened for quite awhile. It was used 100% freezer. Never did it stop, never unplugged. EVERYTHING WE LOADED IN IT STAYED FROZEN SOLID! I was very impressed. Just a bit more info. Several days of our trip the temp was 100* plus in the basement of our coach, with high humidity on top of it!

Far better than a Yeti, the Yeti owners care more about their precious ice than they do the food and drinks. Yeti users also have to worry about getting water into the butter and steaks as the ice melts. This system runs 24/7 without having to worry about plugging it in somewhere, plus you don't lose a third of the storage space to the ice/water and you can make some ice for the poor Yeti owner.

Would still love to see how this functions as just a cooler, like I commented about your last video about this cooler. I can see me powering it at home to get it cold and in the car on the way to the beach or camping location but will it keep drinks cold all day without ice and without lugging the solar panels? maybe even with just the battery. Would love to see if it can run all day in the summer on just the battery. Keep up the great work!!

The local gas station where we fill up the work truck sells ice at two dollars for an 8 pound bag. Our $20 igloo cooler goes through 2 to 3 bags of ice per week in the summer and maybe one in the winter Assuming an average of two bags per week that cooler would take nearly 5 years of around the clock Monday through Friday usage. I don’t think based on lithium ion battery discharge cycles that is going to have five years of longevity. Also over the last 15 years I’ve had at least two coolers stolen. It’s pretty easy to stop and pick up a new cooler on the way home it would be a lot harder to swallow the loss of that thing.
@TKCL
@TKCL 2 жыл бұрын
Your also not factoring in convenience, travel time, fuel and the junk you usually buy at the store. I personally hate buying ice from stores for the convenience alone. No this isn't for everyone, but not everyone wants to buy ice every day or has the ability to. This is why I built my own ice maker at home.

It's for some and isn't for others. A $500 yeti and $3 dollar bags of ice eventually will surpase this cost. But the convenience alone of not having to travel to get ice is what things like this are all about for me.

Good evening Andrew. Great review. When you first showed this cooler my very first thought was why is it black and I was going to comment but I didn't. I would never buy a black cooler because your ice would never last in a normal cooler. Midsummer its hard to keep ice in a white,blue,red cooler. If this was white I also would be very interested. Maybe the manufacturer will read your comments and consider it. Would be interested in you revisiting your test in the middle of summer and I would also like to know how hot the outside of the box gets. Keep up the good videos. I would also be interested in a review of your water heater. Cost, temp of water, how long it takes to receive hot water, ect, I have an older one the I bought and used for a little time and un installed it because I moved and have taken it house to house. And haven't reinstalled because the water heaters were I moved were in perfect condition. Anyway interested thx Edward Bodell

A cooler can’t freeze. This (unlike the comment in the video) is a portable deep freezer. Battery pack is just an unregulated battery setup. Easily repairable or replaced. The solar controller is built into the cooler which is why you can’t plug the solar directly into the battery but you can get a power plug and charge it.
