Did Louis name the Warden for himself? "Louise" is the feminine equivalent of "Louis".

If anyone is wondering why young people are picking up guns and committing mass murder ... it's not about the guns, folks, it's about the nihilistic, sadistic books (and video games, and movies, etc.) warped people like this guy write and equally warped school teachers insist become required reading for innocent children, who in turn become warped by the meaningless cruelty Sachar writes and other's promote w/awards, etc.

Let me guess. You recommend the Bible, which features tons of cruelty and violence.

The reason this book is great is because it gave kids the scared straight experience without actually having to be traumatized by seeing juvy or violence in real life. Reading this book gave young me a good idea of what happens if you misbehave, and also showcased how bad the world is at dealing with misbehavior. (Sick saviors, cruel and corrupt teachers, the folly of poor communication and behaviorism etc) It felt to me like the book was pleading kids to someday become better teachers and rehabilitators than the ones we were growing up with, and to value the importance of reading, understanding the background of wayward souls, etc Dont fear books no matter what they depict. Writing books even from the POV of a truly vile deranged character does not promote violence but instead tends to point out to the reader why being a bad person happens and why it sucks to be one. It helps people who are born messed up, understand why they are messed up which can bring healing. Books are always good and important. Even books like Mein Kampf are extremely important reading material. Intimately understanding the evil of this world is crucial lest we be fighting it blind deaf and dumb. Have faith in the readers. Reading books only decreases the chance that they will act upon evil impulses.
