Oh to add to this video....finding places that don’t charge taxes is HUGE! That’s right, screw sales tax on money that’s already been taxed. If you’re from Texas there are lots of places that do not charge sales tax to Texas residents. AZ, IN, KY just to name a few I’m not sure where Omnia is but they don’t charge tax either. You buy an NRX+ nit paying taxes will save you 52 bucks...now do the 8.25% math on 3300 dollar HDS live 12s, livescope, ultrex and so on if you ever want to rig a boat....lots of money saved BEFORE you find a discount.

1) The Court Purples are cleeeeaaannn. 2) Creating relationships with shops is the best thing you can do as an angler. It may require you to spend some chunks of money, but shops will take care of you after you take care of them for a bit.

I’m going to be buying some high end lews reels and diawa reels just because I can get good deals on them. I once had the opportunity to buy a lews pro ti for 230$ on Amazon . I really liked the new custom pro and the slp..I also think I’m going to get some diawa sv103’s to be my first diawa reels all from your code on omnia. I usually only fish shimano but it’s time to branch out and support other companies.

Just a heads-up, I own Daiwa reels and their customer service is by far the worst I've ever had to deal with. They're the smoothest damn things I've ever used but boy-oh-boy, Shimano is heads and shoulders above them.

One thing about shopping reels from Japan, they are not the same as in USA, the handle is shorter, (for small japanese hands), cranking power is diminished.

I like how tactical bassin says there are no sales, like through Labor Day and black Friday, with megabass. I literally was able to buy. A megabass Triza ageha for 15% with the Labor Day sale. Btw the ageha weighs only 110 grams or 3.9 ounces for a 7’2 medium travel rod! Only problem is the rod is rather tip heavy and having a lightweight, 6oz range, spinning reel doesn’t work to well with the balance.

I got into high end gear a couple of years ago. And it's a rabbit hole lol. Once you go down you don't come back. My cheapest rod now is a expride. A light crisp responsive rod in my hands means more fishing time. And I enjoy it more. It's like eating a great meal instead of drive thru. I will go to the local Bass Pro for baits that I run out of. But most times I wait for a sale like TW's Labor day sale and load up then. How are you liking the new Zillion?

American Legacy is “fair” on used gear, but definitely won’t get a steal on their items. Also, every time I’ve asked for even $10 off multiple times I’ve been shot down on any used or even new gear. Always answered with “items are priced to sell”… that being said I’ve still bought a couple used items from them, just had to pay top market value for them, but I trust em and they do a good job of letting consumers know about any deficiencies on used gear.

I think I’ll only import reels now. Steez A’s go for around $370 shipped and the little CT70s are around $450. They actually retail in Japan less than the SV TW but for some reason Daiwa marked them up an extra $200 here. Also a local shop in the Houston area I’d recommend is Fishing Tackle Unlimited. There are 3 locations across Houston but they’re not a big box retailer like Bass Pro Shops or Academy. My biggest purchase from them was the bantam when no one had inventory but they have plenty of Shimano and Loomis stuff now so I wouldn’t be afraid to ask.

I'm in Canada, so a lot of our prices are inflated on top of simple currency conversion. Typically if I'm going to get a reel, I'll just import from Japan. There are differences though. The JDM 20 Metanium has a lighter spool and smaller handle. 21 Scorpion DC is IDC5 versus Curado DC which is IDC4, but by and large I save a hundred dollars or more versus buying domestic, and usually the differences aren't bad. Lighter spool on the 20 Metanium means better control on the casting for example. Plus there's the whole Jackhammer thing. Zman tax is about 5 USD for everywhere in North America. You can find Japanese retailers that will ship them to North America, even though they're not supposed to and if Zman finds out, they'll put a stop to it. I picked up a dozen Jackhammer's at the beginning of the year for 10 USD a piece. Domestically they're 18 USD converted a piece.

@twiggsherman36413 жыл бұрын
@@buzzjet1914 you *can* get a similar one from AliExpress. It's a pretty close knockoff called a Lthtug Jacky Hammar. The problem is with covid, e-packet is a nightmare, so it could take 4 or 5 months to get your order, but they're 4 USD. I'll probably order a few over the winter to see how well they compare. I suspect the hooks are a lot cheaper and probably get dull pretty quick.
