Not saying it's necessarily the right thing to do because it's a huge gamble, but I can see the club hoping Howe gets Europe without significant Jan signings, and then taking advantage of other clubs needing to sell in summer to back Howe going into a CL or UEL campaign.

Let's calm down a bit, folks. I have spent hours all over the web-i-verse, and so many are saying "There is no way they will beat us by 3 at SJP! Look, West Ham beat us 0-2 at SJP not too long ago. If Arteta's ass-children are leading by two at the whistle it goes to penalties. That is possible, so let's not be counting chickens. Also, if I infer correctly from the presser with Burn and Howe, we got some good bounces (decent luck) and with the fatigue and a few bad legs, Toon had little choice but to avoid a wide-open game and bunker in. Yes, it worked, and much of that was due to Arsenal missing chances. Yes, Isak is a beast, and ice-cold magician, and his supporting cast was at it's best, but.... Let's sober up just a bit.

Transfer question: Given how well Botman is covering RCB, we clearly have enough central defenders to be able to rest/rotate etc. Should this mean we focus any budget we do, in fact, have on a RW this January? For example, let's say (exc. the GK situation) Mitchell's got £60m in the coffers, do you think we should we push the boat out and spend it all to try and secure a proven, top RW (an Mbeumo-type), or dilute it across a CB and 'young' RW (e.g. a Tyler Dibbling)?

Amazing run and turnaround- but as we all know expecting this squad to maintain current performance levels over the course of a season is a big ask. As most fans were calling for Tonali to be played as a six since he came back, I'm no t sure Howe deserves the credit for the turnaround. But he is a really solid bloke and I'd love for him to win us a trophy. I do wonder if our less intense start to the season and input from the performance director has helped us to hit peak performance at just the right time

@jrws89 reportedly, we don't have much money left to spare. We are fairly close to our PSR limits. If true, it means that if we want to splash significant money in the summer, then we need to give our revenue a significant boost. The only quick way to do that is player sales. There are only a handful of players we can sell that will fetch in enough money to buy the four or five quality signings you seem to be expecting. Finishing the season in a decent league position, and even winning a cup, isn't going to suddenly give us enough money to go and splurge on five top quality players. Pretty much all clubs have to sell players on to buy new players these days. We are miles behind the big six in terms of the revenue we generate, that's why they appear much less affected by PSR than the rest of us. I'm not sure how you've managed to avoid hearing about PSR, as its been in the news for most of the last two years. I'm afraid that, in reality, your checklist just isn't as simple as you think it is.
