Willie Carr was vastly underated. Some of his 'touches' were truly sublime, and he had an extremely clever football brain. Should have been a regular for the Scotland national side.

Definitely. On his day, he was better than Messi.

I went to this match, but I am sure the train to Newcastle was almost cancelled because of heavy snow. Maybe it was snowing in Newcastle, but on route to Newcastle.

Im sure Mick Martin ( Newcastle) played for the Baggies at some point classic volley from Kenny Hibbit 😊

I was at this game as a 15 year old. I'm going to look again and try to spot myself in the crowd behind the goal when Hibbitt scores. The disappointment when Wolves scored was awful.

King Kenny! But ex-Wolves Peter Withe and future Wolves manager, Mark McGhee in the Newcastle side

Sudhir Menon , it was weird with Peter Withe , left Forest after league championship and missed out on European cups with them, then went to the Geordies ,won nothing and ended up at Villa and won the European cup and scored the winning goal !

Mark McGhee in his first stint at SJP. Was back a decade later with Micky Quinn making a belting double act. Carved a fairly successful time at Pittodrie with Aberdeen in the middle of that

'Stunned silence' after the Wolves goal. Didn't Newcastle give them any tickets? Surely Wolves would take a larger away following to a Saturday FA cup tie at Newcastle.

I was a student in Newcastle at that time and went to this game. The Wolves fans were packed into the corner at the Leazes End, you can see them at 0.29. I was on the Gallowgate end and can still see the Wolves fans going bananas when Kenny Hibbitt scored that goal. I wished I was amongst them and it inspired me to start going to see my own team (Everton) away from home. Celebrating goals away from home on a packed terrace was one of the great things about football in those days.
