Fun (?) fact. The Kennedy Assassination is sort of an Easter Egg. The first episode of Doctor Who in 1963 was delayed to announce his death.

@@MrMetallix I know that it aired with low viewership. My point still stands that it was *not delayed* to announce Kennedy's death or for any other reason connected to JFK, as the OP claims. The episode aired pretty much when it was supposed to. The only affect from the assassination was low viewing figures, that's it. The shooting and the announcement of death had both happened the previous day and, naturally, people were more interested in watching continued news coverage than a new sci-fi show.

As I've seen mentioned before, Christopher Eccleston is a wonderful post-war Doctor. He's capable of portraying such incredible sadness that I've only really come to appreciate on rewatches. Also Rose is a fan favorite for a very good reason. To so many people, she represented the viewer and was someone we could all relate to. A shop girl, a high-school drop out, belonging to a single-parent family. She was great companion.
@pabloc88086 ай бұрын
Eccleston was perfect for the revival series imo, the perfect balance between silliness and seriousness that fans of the original series can appreciate, while also setting the tone of the show for newcomers. His run has bad episodes, sure, but it has some brilliant ones (episodes 6 and 8 come to mind), and his acting is always on point no matter what.

Doctor Who has always had a fairly modest budget, just like most UK shows on the BBC. These shows have always had the story in focus first. So it's awesome to see that the effects can be done up to par also. Luckily the budget is way better today then back in the beginning in 1963. You want to talk about beans on toast. OK, here's how Brits view them… Ah, behold the humble tin of baked beans, a veritable Pandora’s box of comfort and nostalgia! With trembling hands, you seize this metallic chalice, knowing full well the delight it holds within its confines. As you peel back the lid, a heady aroma wafts forth, like memories of childhood picnics and rainy day lunches encapsulated in tomatoey splendor. The saucepan stands ready, a knight awaiting its noble charge. Into this vessel, you pour the beans, a river of amber and ruby flowing forth, promising warmth and sustenance. The hob flickers to life, a dragon breathing its gentle fire, coaxing the beans into a simmering dance. Ah, the sizzle and pop, a symphony of sustenance, each bubble a note in the melody of anticipation. Now, to the bread, that canvas of golden potential! Each slice, a blank page upon which a culinary masterpiece shall be writ. Into the toaster they go, descending into the fiery abyss to emerge reborn, transformed into golden slabs of perfection. Watch closely, for the line between toast and char is as fine as a spider’s silk, shimmering and delicate. The bread springs forth, victorious and golden, the very sun captured in culinary form. With a flourish, you spread a whisper of butter, its creamy luxury melting into the toast’s warm embrace like a lover’s tender kiss. And now, the moment of union, the crescendo of this gastronomic symphony! The beans, now bubbling with fervor, are ladled generously onto the toast, each spoonful an offering to the gods of comfort food. The toast, sturdy and humble, bears its burden with grace, soaking in the savory goodness. A pinch of salt, a dash of pepper, and lo, the transformation is complete! But wait, there is more to this tale. Should you desire, a handful of grated cheese may be strewn atop, a snowy mantle that melts and mingles, adding richness to this already decadent feast. Ah, but the journey does not end here. For those who seek adventure, a splash of Worcestershire sauce or a hint of chilli powder may be added to the beans, infusing them with an exotic flair, a touch of the unknown. Thus, you stand back and admire your creation, this simple yet profound dish. Beans on toast, a testament to the beauty of simplicity, a dish that speaks of home and hearth, of love and care. And as you take that first bite, you are transported, lifted upon the wings of flavour to a place where comfort and contentment reign supreme. Bon appétit, dear friend, bon appétit.

Yayyy! Loved your reaction. Love this episode so so much. It was my start, in 2006, I was 15. Fun times. I still love it just as much. Doctor Who is a life long love 😍 @5:22 I laughed so hard

my favorite theory about this episode is that the doctor left 30:17 and traveled a few years alone after this then one day was like i wish rose was here and came back and mentioned the time travel bit.

Everyone loves 10 but 9 is my Doctor. Series 1 is my favorite season of Doctor Who ever! Eccleston was fantastic in the role.

Love you watching this! I started watching in the ‘70s as a preschooler, & have never looked back. Love something from every era of Doctor Who! Great reaction! 💜💜➕🌈🟦

It was fun to see a reaction of someone who's seen a much later season, and then getting to know Christopher Eccleston's Doctor.

Minor show detail: In the opening credits as well as the show as well, the time vortex color (red or blue) means which direction the TARDIS travels in.
