I really appreciate Kevin taking the time to really walk the audience (and his employees) through snake handling, letting them making mistakes but keeping them out of any serious danger. I don't have any retics, but I do have a boa imperator that came from some impressively large parents. While this snake is small I've been using the handling techniques Kevin shows because I know they'll be helpful when the snake is a mature adult.
@BlackLotusxxx4 жыл бұрын
Oooh I couldn't go that big. I adore them but those teeth. But boas have tiny teeth right? Still. Too heavy lol!
@sdlinachu4 жыл бұрын
@@BlackLotusxxx Nonvenomous snakebites as a whole look a whole lot worse than they actually are. Honestly though, excluding when in feeding mode, my boa is the sweetest and most tolerant of all my snakes when handling. The biggest challenge with handling him will definitely be his strength rather than his weight, as at even 2.5 feet he's much stronger than an equally or larger-sized ball python.

Kevin, fascinating class on retics their breeding cycles and personality changes. Recently I watched a segment of Bondi Vet about a green tree python (female) with respiratory issues, and lg. Pinkish blue sores on her belly, she looked so ill even to me. After an ultrasound they decided to open her up and found her entire follicular structure had died, the vet was pulling this necrotic mess out in long pieces, very sad this little python didn't recover. Always feel like I've learned something new so Thank you and Happy New Year!

Amazing information and getting to follow along in the breeding process is so awesome! I love that you stand back, observe and then approach the situation as a whole when something is showing signs of illness. Now are boas that easy to palpate or is it a different process due to being live bearers? I know they just incubate the eggs internally but I wasnt sure if the process was therefore different or if most of the process is equal across most species.
