Watching Kevin with the new monitor was show stopping. Granted he was cold, but he showed no sign of wanting to bite or escape. Kevin and my sister share a gift that somehow tells animals (and people) they are a "safe place to land." Love your channel and the knowledge i gain from it.

@houndgirl73652 жыл бұрын
For tegus though if you think about it they are in an incredibly awkward phase. I didn't really experience Guberty with my boy, but I think that's partially because when I took him out I would put him in pockets (of appropriate size). After he outgrew my hoodie pocket though was when I could let him free roam and usually he was always the most chill under covers. I would share his space with him constantly, so he was never territorial with me. My hypothesis on it is once they get to that size point they have more difficulty hiding, so they are going to be a bit more defensive. By giving them more areas to hide and deeper substrate I feel like it negates some of that aggression especially when you put the clothing you wore into the enclosure with them. It really makes a difference and when I felt my boy was starting to feel insecure I actually would start putting my clothes in with him again (something I did when he was a hatchling) and I would frequently find him either in the clothes or buried under it. It kind of became a security thing and he would mellow out. I suggest it for any tegu owner though sharing space is really important and what Kevin states here is such crucial info ^^

Lizards are similar to children, they are always paying attention and learning. It's very easy to cause them unwanted stress. I had reptiles growing up too. My mom taught me how to care for them. She loved nature. I do too. I also had two large Aquariums and two bedrooms for my fish and reptiles. We kept them in separate rooms with temperature controlled environments. One room was for the cold blooded the other for aquatic plants and animals. We grew plants for Aquariums and sold them. I made plastic plants and rocks. We also built Aquariums and fountains. I am autistic and an artist and my mom found out how to help me stay calm and stress free, that's why we started the business. Also, Our lizards were family members they hangout with the family a lot. They would beg to be held and liked watching TV and playing video games. I do miss them. I am handicapped so I can't care for animals anymore, my mom helped me. She passed away in 2016. I did have a giant African bullfrog named Fed, he was my frog child. After he passed I quit the business and never got another animal until I was older and I adopted a cat. I guess it's in my blood to want to be with animals. I suffer a lot if I don't have a companion. They teach us so much too. All life is intelligent and it's us that are ignorant. We humans like to humanise other creatures and that's not okay.

We had a Bosc monitor for years Eddie Izzzard , seeing you unpack the ‘savage beast’ from your mate really reminded how much every vid ( the community at the time was incredibly preachy ) was instructing us that socialising = bad and that we should leave him not handle much ~ however no one ever told Eddie this , he always thought he was the inchish long baby that laid in my palm , he would get so cutched in and ‘ cuddly’ , and then loved to scope around the garden in a very hot day wth a dandellion in his mouth , size of a small dinosaur by now, reminded when people would see him for the first time . ~I’d forgetten how Amazing he was , a lot of work and a literal tonne or two of soilmix but he was always a baby , and would’ve been out with us as much as we could let him . Thanks for these vids , really lovely vibe , AND incredibly healthy looking critters 🦎✨ I caught the vid where Mr Lizard man was bringing the eggs out of the python , they’d calcified and the snake was trying to rein fuse them 😳 , was just amazed at how well he was navigating around inside , just breathtaking 🐍👏🙏

I did something similar with my rescue jungle python. When I brought him home, we set up a nice little climbing frame and let him sit and soak up some natural uv outside. We had him out for about half an hour and we touched, my thought process was, get as much of my scent on him with no pain or towels on his head. I rescued him from a bad spot. When we were done and he was warm and wanting to move I picked him up, trying to be as supportive as possible because I don't think he was handled too much, I put him in his enclosure, left him for two days before I started hook training...just touching with the hook once every couple of days for his two week settling period. It's worth mentioning that he was severely enclosure aggressive. He is now pretty sweet....only with me though. He isn't keen on other people. Doesn't bite but will get really huffy.

Those Madagascan Ground Boas are absolutely stunning! If anyone can socialize that Black Throat, it’s the EvilMorphGod!

Hi Kevin that black throat monitor came to the right place. With your knowledge you will have it tame soon.That large Golden child rainbow boa is so beautiful, and the tan and yellow in with the rainbow boa, had a pretty pattern. Cindy

Hoping the black throated monitor likes Kevin better than his previous human (who was just trying to keep him alive). Maybe you can let us know how he is adjusting in the near future. Beautiful retics, the pied you first took out is really stunning and I was wondering if Brian got Al Machino from NERD. Lastly, I was wondering if the las boa you showed has live babies since it only has a few. Great job, Thanks for the upload.

Brenda I'll keep you posted on it! Unfortunately, Kevin has really gotten somewhere with it quickly.. because its acting like it never had an attitude problem lol

The Golden Child is an oil slick on blacktop; one of my faves. Beautiful ground boas! I LOVE Black-throated Monitors --- he is in good hands and I hope we see him again soon. Brian Barczyk was handling a small one and it bit him--said he felt sick (headache maybe?) for less than a day and didn't make the connection at first, but apparently they have slightly venomous bite? Saliva? I'll have to google it.
