I think the electric motor is a good idea. However I feel the bike still needs a onboard generator to either charge the battery pack or just provide electric current directly to the motor or both. Relying on shore power only for charging the battery is not the way to go.

Hello, thanks for your feedback. The generators are heavy and would take up even more space on electric bikes that are already heavy by default.

@@Datacube the lightest self contained generator available on the market weighs in at 865 grams. That's considerably lighter than the battery packs motorcycle companies are trying to stuff into their current EV'S. People developing these vehicles need to start taking a broader perspective on how to bring these vehicles to market.

​@@user-et5om1ci9uI agree, I'm not convinced nations (even developed, let alone developing or 3rd world nations) are going to be able to keep up with charging infrastructure and power grid requirements as more and more EVs hit the roads. HEVs do make sense for many reasons, but it seems most companies are heavily focused on producing EVs because of the hype. And yes, range anxiety.

@@Datacube Not in the UK where the 125cc licence ('A1 licence') limits you to continuous power output of 11kW on electric motorcycles. Peak power output can be higher. Anything above 11kW continuous, and you need the A2 licence. The Yadea Kemper for example has a power output of 23kW continuous, so you would need an A2 licence for that.
