Looking forward to the results of your baking soda fabric softening experiment. I’d love to give quilter’s cotton better drape.

Lisa, brilliant job on your top and the short boiler suit looks tremendous! No wonder she's a happy girlie! The dress for your friend is gorgeous, the muslin was really pretty in that fabric. I hope you saved the pattern for yourself, as it's really sweet. I'm late to your Vlog. With regards the quilting cotton, stiff Jean fabric I read/heard that coca cola is great to help soften fabrics, either a couple of the giant bottles in a half load wash, or soak then wash...my friends wonder why I don't drink the stuff 🙄 naturally I knew none of that when I first tasted it at 11 didn't like it or other types like it, sickly... yet adore icing on cakes or buns! Taste must have put me off. It's certainly worth a try, it was a seamstress advice, that I do recall, but not who or where. With regards the crotch fit, you may have to measure your body from front waist under crotch to back to give you a better idea of fit for you. I'm short 4'10" always a problem with me, yes, short in height waist to crotch shortest part of my body if that makes sense? 🤔 Your makes are delicious! Look at the colour you are, suits you so well, perfect for all your Summer Makes! 😉 Fabric for Bondi mix is stunning! I do laugh at you and your hobby, look at your plans, I'll maybe add this or do that over and above, lol. Long as your happy Lisa that's important as you'll know if your giving yourself too much to do. 🤗😉

Instead of an elastic waist. Make a shaped back waist band. This may help to make it more tailored. Could take out the bluck of fabric in the center back. Just a thought 🤔

Do you watch Lifting Pins and Needles? She had the same issue with the Pietra shorts and shows how she solved it. I have learned a lot from her channel. Thanks for the Kali top inspiration. I love the high-low hem and your tip to make the front a little longer. I'm sure I will need to adjust there. Yours looked great! The jumper was a winner as well. She looked so cute and happy. It is delightful to see all that sewing happening in your space. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks! Yes, I’ve seen Karina’s video on the Pietra’s- so good! I adjusted my pockets based on her instructions. I think I would have to recut the shorts from scratch, because I can’t adjust them as is- there’s no fabric where I need to add. ;)

A suggestion for a summer dress pattern. Prima Magazine (uk) have a pattern in the July issue. You have to ring a number in the magazine to get it. Its a very simple design but I like it. Take a look maybe you could draft it yourself. xx

I've been able to soften cotton by placing it in diluted white vinegar with salt added. Also helps reds to STOP fading.
@Lisamakes4 жыл бұрын
Yes, that was another one I read about- good to know it works!
@intheyellowcorner4 жыл бұрын
I do this also but just add a cup of white vinegar to the washing machine in the pre-wash. It also takes away bad odours in cheaper fabric too.
@lindafields46324 жыл бұрын
yes the coke really works, it's a great tip to soften denim. But it has to be regular Coca Cola. I usually put a large bottle in my washing machine with the fabric and put it on a 30deg wash for half an hour x

Do you have enough of the blue-green fabric to cut the dress on the bias? That would definitely give it more drape. And thanks for the heads up on the burdastyle.ru sale. I must have seen that in your insta stories. I went into kind of a fugue and made it through 100 pages before snapping out of it! I spent a whole $7.45! ha! Looking forward to seeing your # makes.

Kelley King, my payment was rejected several times. I tried different cards and everything. I finally got a fraud prevention alert call from my bank and after I confirmed it was a legit transaction I tried again and it went through. I’m sorry it didn’t work for you. That was a very time-consuming endeavor.

I’ve heard you can soak material in coke a cola, it doesn’t change the color at all
@cindytalbot20284 жыл бұрын
This will sound funny but washing fabric in Coca-Cola (the regular, not diet coke). You just put in the fabric and a can of coke, no detergent. You want low water. I have a front loader so the water is less. You may have to do this a few times but I have found it does soften the fabric. It is good for denim also. No extra rinsing is needed. Good luck.

Hi Lisa, I have that Meter Meter fabric and made the Loungewear Set top by Common Stitch and it came out lovely. Great to see with and so lovely to wear...your Bondi will look amazing I'm sure 👌💖. Such a shame about your shorts but if you can salvage a skirt out of it, that will be great.. again, lovely fabric 😉. I adore your Kalle and as you know, I'm a big fan of that pattern anyway. Well done for stretching it out from your smaller amount 👌. Your daughters looked fab in their garments...lucky girls 😁💕😘

When your daughter said, "mom I'm starting to dress like you" just tell her how mature or adult-like she looks. What teen doesn't want to look older? To soften fabric wash it with Coke, it works wonders.
